  • Hey guys! This video is meant as a demonstration and a tutorial on how to use the new Markpoint system in conjunction with the Harm Targeting System (HTS) Pod to provide Real time BDA when engaging SAM Sites in the DCS F-16C Block 50 Viper!
    The HTS Pod on the F-16C is a game changer and will make the Viper capable of finding, pinpointing and engaging SAM Sites in unknown locations in all weather day or night! I expect DCS public servers to be swept clean of SAM Sites in no time!
    I hope you enjoy the video!

    Having come to the F-16 via Falcon 4.0--->BMS 4.35, I feel most comfortable learning the DCS version of this particular aircraft, and must say the diversity of weapons it can handle is amazing. MOST amazing I think is the astronomical power behind its single engine!?!?!? There's a documentary about a USAF pilot who'd saved the day for our besieged troops using sonic boom and the ridiculous on-demand power of this beast.
    I clearly recall its official release to the US arsenal, and that there were two points that set it so apart from the others:
    1. the helmet-mounted targeting was like a real-life debut of the system in the helicopter in 1987's movie "Firefox", starring Clint Eastwood. When I saw the film in theater (a place packed with auditorium seating where films are projected onto a vast screen, popcorn costs about $10/oz, and soft drinks are more expensive than champagne), the idea of such a device seemed decades before its time........ then whattaya know, the F-16 Fighting Falcon appears :)
    2. the deliberate flight INSTABILITY of the F-16 was one of its ultimate features; it is this instability that provided unprecedented maneuverability AND reduction in pilot fatigue due to the location of center-of-gravity. My (not-so-expert-but-fascinated) understanding is that the F-16 is second only to the F-22 in terms of turn-on-a-dime finesse.
    HARM is something I've shuffled my feet with so this is (typically, Spudknocker) the right place :)

    Thanks for the video clearing up how to two new features work with each other so well! I was having the issue in my own game where the SAM sites were packed in so close together that I was having difficulty locking the one I wanted. In Wags video around the 5:42 mark, he talks about TMS Right handing off between emitters. Have you been able to get this to work? I also had an issue where after getting repaired, the HTS pod wouldn't lock anything. I don't know if you've experienced that or have any further insight on target handoff. Really enjoy the content, keep up the great work & congrats on 40k!

    Nice video. Noticed that the HARM hitting looked different in Wags video. I wonder if this is an update that will later be coming with the AH-64 with ED trying to work on things closer to the ground for it, or if it's because your HARM maybe exploded early. • @mvidkjaer
      @mvidkjaer 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The first markpoint (26) was created to be able to slew the TGP to that point. He then moved the TGP for a more precise location (27). I guess he wanted to see the target get hit with this, but he fired the missile with the HAD system which targets the location of where the system triangulates the position (which is the location at 26). He should have used EOM or PB mode (on the right MFCD) to fire it towards 27 for higher precision.
      The HAD system would then just be used for finding the location of the SAM site.

    I'm new to learning the Viper and I have a question maybe someone can help clarify. When using the HAD and HARM in POS - EOM mode, do you still have to select the Active ALIC threat table 1/2/3 (WPN page button 2 on top row)? Nobody mentions it in their tutorials so maybe it's a non issue. Maybe the handoff takes care of it?
    In my practice mission, I setup a SA-3 so that would be table 3 which is not the default when powering up the HARM.

    • @Spudknocker
      @Spudknocker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have a AN/ASQ-213 HTS Pod mounted on your aircraft you do not need to worry about your tables or anything like that! Your HTS pod does all the targeting and tell the HARM missile what radar to go after when you launch it!

      He fired the missile using the HAD system which targets where the system thinks the SAM is. For higher precision he should have used EOM or PB mode on the right MFCD on steerpoint 27.
      In theory you could use the HAD system to roughly locate the SAM site. Then slew the TGP to that location. Fin tune TGP for the precise location and fire the missile at that location using EOM or PB mode. But if you can slew the TGP to be roughly at point this would be precision enough with the HAD system.
