    Omg ! It is so delicious. I came home very late at night daily after job, and at that moment all family members keep sleeping, tonight I decided to make some quick and easy recipe at home, and all ingredients can be easily available in my fridge. So I have started searching on youtube, finally I decided to try this yee mee noodle soup, and I get one egg, peas, cabbage, and made noodle soup. Now I am enjoying the meal as well as typing this comment. Thank you so much for this,,,, Because Now I am feeling like a Kitchen King, that I can also make food for me myself.

    My suggestion. Pre cooked the fish ball before you put in the soup or you fry the ball together with garlic before add in the water. The green vegetables is overly cooked, just cooked them 1 to 2 minutes before you serve. The noodles need a deep hot water soaked before your pour the soup.

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit
      @HomeCookingwithSomjit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Natasha Bong, thank you for the question 😄 Yes, the noodles do not need to be washed if you like the yee mee to be crispy. Alternatively, they can be blanched in hot water for 1 minute to remove the colouring if preferred before consuming the noodles. Hope this helps 😄

    Hmm... I cook this often, using prawns mostly. But what is shocking is, you don't have to cook the noodles??? Will it get soft from the soup? Or is it supposed to be crunchy? Well the noodles do look soft at the end, lol.

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit
      @HomeCookingwithSomjit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi eggie011, Yes, I like it crunchy so I didn't cook the noodle. Yee Mee can be cooked by just pouring the hot soup over, it will be crunchy at the beginning and eventually it will be soft before you can finish the whole bowl. If cook the yee mee before pouring the hot soup over it, yee mee will end up too soft. Anyway it's totally optional for those who like to cook it before pouring the soup over. Thanks for the comment and I really appreciate it. Stay safe!

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit

      Hi OrishiraNHY. Yes, you can cook the egg noodles separately before adding in the soup. Soak the egg noodles in hot boiling water for 1 minutes, then remove the noodles from the hot water and into the serving bowl. Lastly pour in the hot soup and enjoy!😀

      Hi OrishiraNHY, thank you for the question 😀 It depends on the amount of hot oil and water. For this recipe, the deep saucepan and small amount of oil with a large amount of water is ok. But if the amount of oil for deep frying, pouring water or wet paste would definitely cause a big oil splash and could be dangerous. Hope it helps 😀

      @lildevil872 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing yes cause that's the base of the soup. Or else it would just be garlic water with ingredients in it. You could also use anchovies or Asian stock cube to make your soup base instead of oyster sauce

      Hi The Sea Angel, My apologies for the late reply. Yes, both are necessary as we don't use chicken stock/broth hence these two seasonings are important for the taste.

      Hi OrishiraNHY. Yes, sure you can make without garlic. If you skip the garlic, you don't need the oil. Can start with boiling the soup and add in the other ingredients as per the steps in the video. Happy cooking 😀

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit

      Sorry for replying late. Yes, it's possible. The noodles will turn out softer (some may prefer it to be softer) as it has the chance to absorb the gravy for a longer time. I personally prefer slightly firm noodles, so I chose to pour the gravy over it. Hope it helps 😀

      Hi Jazt Meh, thank you for the question 😀 Yes, it's cooked, although it's on the firmer side. I prefer my noodles like that. However, if softer noodles are preferred, they can be first blanched in hot water for 1-2 minutes to soften, before draining the water. Hope it helps 😀

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit

      Hi OrishiraNHY, I don't recommend as potato will take longer time to cook. Also we Asian don't really use potato in our noodle soup. However, if you wish it's possible, just add in the cooked potatoes and in small amount it should be ok. Thanks for the question. 😀

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit
      @HomeCookingwithSomjit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Iris Tan, Intentionally to cook it that way as I wanted yee mee to be a bit crispy just like eating it at the hawker stall. After a while, it will be cooked & softer because of the soak in super hot soup.
      Alternatively, can pre-boil yee mee first before pouring in the soup. Thank you for the comment.
