Had to look at the decibel meter to make sure I wasnt crazy. Normally the volume is at 90-100 but this felt like proper punch to the chest with the mix but sitting
The Lion sounds so good it's unreal- as good or better than many tube amps I've played through. UAFX really jumped ahead when they came out with it- imo. That said- technology tends to spread once it's available so- I look for there to be more great options from other makers available soon. They'll reverse engineer the Lion and figure out why/how it sounds as good as it does- then they'll either license the use of that tech or create something similar they can call their own- it always happens. And that's when the pricing starts being what separates them- so you end up with affordable versions.
There's a rumour that Rob's intro was done without any editing, and that he learned that glitching vocal technique from a strange man living in a cave in the Dingli cliffs who has spent 40 years beatboxing on his own, just waiting for a protegé to teach his techniques to.... Of course, this is just a rumour...
Much earlier than Tight Fit, The Karl Denver trio did The Lion Sleeps tonight, under the title Wimoweh (1962) and another version by the Tokens was also in the charts then.
Its always good to see Rob the shred master on Andertons channel. Such a great musician and i was turned on to Rob 10 plus years ago and i really want a signature Rob Chapman guitar. Amazing fiddles.
I don’t watch Rob or Andertons much anymore but when they’re together I watch them all. They are the same now as 4-5 years ago. In a good way. Just need Rabea and Matt to complete the dream team.
Indeed. I recently bought the new epiphone inspired by Gibson Korina V. Man, that guitar is so good. Finish is flawless and plays like a dream.nothing cheap about it.
For $997 I'd go with Kraken V4 Preamp Pedal, Strymon Cloudburst, and Yamaha Pacifica 112V Violin Sunburst (The ESP LTD EC-256FM in Lemon Drop is still pre-order and would have blown the budget by $17)
I see the problem, the numbers I have listed are all in £ from the Anderton's website, I've just never used the symbol before. (I also had to assume I was in store since I couldn't get the Pacifica shipped to the US).
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was released by The Tokens (originally the Linctones (Name taken from Lincoln Highschool in Brooklyn where they all met/first band)), -then they became "Darrel and the Oxfords" (they had one hit... "Picture in My Wallet"), and then, they formed "The Tokens" (a name which Neil Sedaka helped originate)... so yeah... I grew up with that family legacy...met all the industry dudes, but i was just a kid at the time. Jay Siegel still performs to this day,, and he must be around 80 at this point...
Dangit, when I edited the above, i left out the part where my stepfather was in the Tokens from the start... they were all friends in Lincoln High... and kept going till around mid 70's...(Then Jay Siegel and a couple others formed "Cross Country"), and the Tokens were no more. Jay continued producing music for several artists... Years Later though, Jay revived the legacy, and still tours with "Jay Siegel and the Tokens" to this day... wow.... thats a loooong career in music. Go Jay!!
As a lifelong lead vocalist who also plays guitar, i prefer wedge monitors as well. We found, once those plexiglass drum panels came into use, it made a huge difference in hearing myself. Also, i only put vocals through the floor wedges. I use a straight cab for guitar, and at about 5-10 feet out, they really carry your tone enough to hear what you’re playing just fine if you aim right at your bum… cheers, fellas, and as always, super jealous you live in Malta!!
Limited to £1k, I'd prioritise the amp and choose a Vox AC15C1. To get two channels, EQ, master volume, good cleans and good classic low to mid gain trashy drive. For pedal, just a TC Magus Pro. For three different Rat voicings, classic, fat and turbo. That can do boost/drive, distortion and all the way up to fuzz. For guitar, a Larry Carlton S3, the red HSS. I would miss a delay though. The Behringer SF300 super fuzz, with boost, and VD400 delay might be an option instead of the Magus. But I'd rehouse them.
It kind of sounds like the amp is in a room down the hall with the doors open. I'd prefer a presence knob on this "amp" pedal that would let me bring the sound a bit further forward
The version "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" that MOST people remember is by the do-wop group The Tokens in 1961. It was written by Solomon Linda a South African as "Mbube" . It was recorded as "Wimoweh" by the Weavers in November 1951. It has been covered many many times.
I kind of wish they remembered the pull knobs on the Stratosonic. In the middle position the volume pulled out puts the pickups in series and the tone knob puts the pickups out of phase. I love the sounds out of that guitar.
Dont know if anyone will see or answer, but 22:05. What riff is Rob Playing. Been hearing him play it for years and love the riff, but I don't know what song it's from, or if it's just a Rob Chapman thing. Thanks to anyone who can answer.
Lee is a similar age as me and I guarantee if you were my age, growing up in the UK, it is Tight Fit that you think of. The Tokens didn't break the top 10 in the UK and it was over 60 years ago... Tight Fit? Sold a million and UK no.1 when we were kids.
i feel like the room effect is a bit over the top on the live setting but otherwise what a sound! i have ruby and i run it at the end of my stereo chain and it really has been life changing at home, studio and specially on stage. i never enjoyed my guitar sound as much as i do now!
My tour/session rig is the same theme. I use a Squier Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified, an Amp Tweaker Tight Metal Pro II going direct-out to front of house, and a tuner. There you go. ONE guitar and a pedalboard in the back seat of my car, that is THE ONLY way to tour.
I have every piece of gear in this video except the Heavenly lol. The G&L MFD pickups are overpowered. Roll the guitar volume back to about 8 and they sound like regular singles. That would have cleaned up the fuzz. The G&L S500 comes with the bass contour so you can roll off bass. It’s a sleeper killer guitar. You should have also switched Lion IR cabs until you found a better match. Also roll down vol 2 that’s the woofier of the two channels.
I know this is a long shot. But I have to try. Around 3 years ago the captain and Pete were showing the sire guitar. The captain was using the green ls7. Anyway my question is Pete was using two pedals. If anybody would know what the name of the white one is. I'd be amazed. 🙏
@@victoralesi8025 In between the White and Purple pedals is a Black one which is the Walrus Audio 385 MkII Dynamic Overdrive Black. That digital stuff is getting out of control!. Great Squier too, just bought a Squier VM 70's bass because I could not afford Fender. The feeling of the neck is just as good as the Fenders I played.
What's funny about single pickup guitars. Is that the most famous player of a single pickup guitar and the guy who likely inspired people like Phil X to use single pickup guitars, Eddie Van Halen, his most famous guitar didn't have one pickup(technically). He had one humbucker wired and then a single coil unwired. The large majority of VH albums weren't recorded with a single pickup guitar.

The vibe between El Chappo and the Captain is just magical.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens, released circa 1960s.
The plate reverb makes it sound like the guitar was recorded with the mic from the camera which sounds great!

There's a "presence" knob on the pedal. When you flick the switch to ALT-Mode you can edit the amount of prescence by turning the Middle knob.
