    I bought it in 2016 and still in love. The last ones with proper sound. Congratulations. 😊

      I bought a 2016 981 GTS w PDK, Guards Red with 15.5k on the clock. I have 38k on the clock now, no issues what so ever and I absolutely LOVE IT !

    I experienced ownership of both PDK & manual 981 GTS’s, Totally agree with you, this car might be the best sport car of the modern era.

      Ah wow to own both varients must have been great. Which did you prefer? I was thinking about the 981 GTS yesterday and watched a few old TH-cam videos on it! Such a special car 😊

    Awesome cars 👌🏻
    I have a 2014 981 GTS with the manual transmission, PTV and the factory optional X73 chassis suspension package…10mm lower.
    I believe there are only around 130 Cayman 981 GTS’s in the U.K. and not 540 as mentioned in the video.
    These are becoming extremely rare and will be a great future classic and investment.

      Many congrats on your 981 GTS. I have heard there are 540 total with 130 being manuals although I could be mistaken. For sure they are wonderful cars to enjoy and their values always hold strong 👍

    The accelerator 'button' is a kickdown switch, basically drops gearbox to the lowest gear to give maximum power. I've a 981 S with GTS spec basically (including front and rear GTS bumper/diffuser) and love the car! So much fun, noise etc! a Cayman S with PDK and good spec is 98% of a GTS but quite bit cheaper and only 15 HP less. So look into one of those if you plan on buying one!

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment and I also see the benefits of a Cayman S, particularly a high specified one with retrofitted GTS items, as you are getting very much a great sounding 3.4 flat 6 along with a great driving car. I would love to compare the S to the GTS if you would be happy to perhaps share yours with me for the channel? I am in good contact with the GTS owner so possibly a back to back comparison would be great. No pressure if not and I am happy you are enjoying your Cayman S. I am on Instagram DM or over email with my information in my bio 👍

    Boxster 981 GTS owner here, absolutely love it! Never fancied a convertible but it goes up another level with the noise of the engine/exhaust with the top down, the crack on the upshifts and pops/crackles on downshift and overrun are just intoxicating, I thought my previous F-Tyoe V6 was loud but the GTS is so much more, subjective of course 😊. So glad I purchased this very special little sports car and great seeing your reaction driving the Cayman GTS 👍🏻

      Many congrats on your Boxster 981 GTS! Another very special car and you get to hear that sound track even better. You have another car on my bucket list as they have a large amount of the same benefits as the Cayman GTS too just with the roof down🙂

    Great video mate. About to pull a trigger on one here in Australia with the exact same spec and colour! How are you finding the power build up without the turbo? I’ve always ever owned turbo charged cars and I’m coming from an F87 BMW M2.

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the positive feedback. The power build up is wonderful! I love the linear nature of the naturally aspirated engine and it sings too! A turbo car is more spikey once it hits a certain RPM for the turbo to kick in. They are likely faster and offer more torque delivery but this is one of the last old school sports cars. I love it! I can only recommend the car and many congrats should you go ahead with the GTS 981 🎉

    And there's my issue, brilliant car looks the part sounds and feels great on the road, but 10 years old which in all the examples i looked at 60 70k miles.
    Anything Cayman GTS under 10 years old with reasonably low miles is just big money

    • @SamAustin
      @SamAustin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes very hard to find the right one but they do appear. Those cars seem to edge around the £50,000 mark but it is still a great car even at that price in my opinion. There's an orange GTS Cayman which sometimes appears on Autotrader which just looks immaculate...often the owners care for the cars very well so even with a few miles it is still a car potentially worth taking the plunge on and purchasing 👍

    • @markrhoden68
      @markrhoden68 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SamAustin then there's the issue of financing a car of that value. Even with a 10k deposit you'd still be looking at financing a good 35-40k, with current interest rates its a car I'd simply not be able to justify regardless of how nice it is

    • @luciussander8217
      @luciussander8217 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends what you think is 'big money'. I had a 2021 718 GTS, which was £80k when ordered, so more or less the same price as my Audi RS4 that I got around the same time. These days £80k isn't a lot of money, but then I guess for some it is. I now have a 718 GT4, but it's not so easy to live with as the GTS was and as my new company is doing so well, I've literally just ordered the new 911 Carrera GTS in Shade Green with Aero Kit, can't wait!

    Caymans only come alive when going quickly ime..i reckon a GR86 or an M2 would be more fun and less clinical as a daily. Track no question mid engine Cayman is less compromised..

    • @MrRoyck10
      @MrRoyck10 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We get this argument all the time about Miata or MX5 being better, a sports car is not about speed, speed is only one part of the equation, a sports car evokes emotions, that is certainly missing in GR86 and even M2. Cayman is a chassis car and not an outright speed car, those who know love the BoxEngine flat six with split personality when activated.

      oh wow that’s totally wrong. I’ve had M5/4/2 and those only show their true colours at speed. The 718 platform is a delight at any speed. The poster clearly hasn’t driven one
