Low key I've always wanted a knee capper double barrel shotgun, just for the feel, though the ultimate prize is a lucky double barrel. Next legendary shotgun I get I plan to loot lock for it, with 1 critical boost tank and 1 critical banker rank you can 3 shot swan without any rifleman levels on normal difficulty, 2 crits in his head from as close as you can get without rising him and one normal body shot will kill him with a sawed off shotgun with a calibrated receiver, can't remember if it was powerful or not but still. Imagine boosting that damage further, plus full crit perks to ensure that you basically never run out of crits, max scrounger so every other shot won't consume amo and full quick hands for no reload ap cost... Never tried this build full on but always wanted to, combined with a non silenced deliverer to build crit meter at range and a switch blade for a practically free teleport into the effective sawed off shotgun range.... God why do I never try to work twords this build....
Texas Dice yes, because you need to adapt yourself to the wasteland, and not basing your build all in a stat... Making yourself unpractical cause issues like this

I did this on console and it worked perfectly got the spawn after my third attempt already had trade routes going to the castle so i sent him there rang the bell i had placed and he showed up thanks man
Finally got this weopon on PS4, it was a pain I kept forcing the random encounters until I found Smiling Larry, I sent him to my settlement and when I got there he was nowhere to be found, tried like 3 more times and still nowhere to be found. So I instead decided to follow him, his mercenaries, and his stupid cow. Over the long travel both his mercenaries and his Brahim died because of mines, luckly enough he was still alive but had a crippled leg so it took twice as long to get from that place near Polymer Labs to my settlement that was in Red Rocket Truck Stop. What a long and stupid journey and in the end I did not use Reckoning that much.
The level 4 vendors are super bugged, I can't get a single one to work. For example Vault salesman just keeps asking if I'll visit, and the lancer just talks like a normal lancer.
+Jack Duripper I send the vault-tec guy in the Sanctuary Hills, but I had to send him again to assign him to a job. He has one legendary armor piece in his inventory if assign him to an armor emporium.

I had no idea that I could unlock the Reckoning until I asked Larry to move to the castle, I asked him to work at the Minutemen Fort Arms Emporium and I accidentally bought this weapon on a whim! What a real case of Serendipity! But that's what happens when you're an idiot savant!
Personally, I'm still searching for a 38 cal pipe rifle with explosive rounds. Ammo is very cheap and abundant, so you can literally tear though anything with one. Ghouls fall to pieces fast.
Way too much work for a shyte mellee weapon. (PS, you can get it from killing any random legendary as long as you're playing on Normal or Hard difficulty)
I have the curved ripper that I got from Arturo after reaching level 30, and it has 4 x more damage than the reckoning. You might as well just get the perk and use the curved or extended ripper.
I got Larry ( I farmed him at that location )he would not work for me at sanctuary but did work at red rocket ( sanctuary had a weapon imperium and over 30 settlers I don't think I had any supply lines set up ) I recommend using lots of saves before and after interactions and yo may have to actually follow him in game from where u meet him to your settlement
As a note to people saying "I sent Smiling Larry to my settlement but he just doesn't appear." If you are on pc open your console with tilde and type "player.moveto 2f2a7" (without quotation marks around it) and it will teleport you to him. For some reason if you tell him to go somewhere and then leave the chunk he is loaded on he can just disappear to an NPC testing room and be stuck there for all eternity. If you port to him and tell him to go to your settlement again it usually works.
with all the levels of unarmed and big leagues as well as the other buffs you can gain this weapon can be quite fun especially if you get the bloodied varient
You should check vault 81, near the clinic. Thats her default "home" location that she goes to when you dismiss her but dont actually tell her a settlement go to. At least thats where i always find when I tell her to go somewhere and she never actually goes there.
I have a legendary ripper that has the furious thing. it after each hit of which it does like 5 a sec, does more damage after each and every hit. This grinds tough enemies down fast
You don't have to go all the way to the Polymer Labs and turn around to force the encounters, you can just go to the police station, exit out the back gate, follow the road towards the billboard, and there ya go, random encounter should come around the corner near the building closest to the billboard. Not being rude just trying to make things a little easier. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I did get smiling Larry and the scribe to show up to sanctuary, just to sell there items and vanish after I walk so far away from sanctuary. Every one thinks they disappear because of a timer. Not at all. It has something to do with traveling so far away from them. Sanctuary and green top nursery is the shorts amount of distance I've noticed that makes the merchants disappear. Now the other 2 are just like the doc Anderson you showed. They don't give an option.

I got a ripper from a legendary gunner that has a chance to stagger people, once you hold right trigger, you're basically holding the person against their will, eventually killing him, I named my ripper Dr. Spam.
I JUST GOT TWO RIPPERS, I got it from the military guy in Diamond city Notes: Level 34, just finished the castle, was going to talk to piper(interview), no store perks/persuasion for a lower price, and Travis is confident,plus i had the flaming sword,pickmans knife, the sword from grasshopper, and the tooth sword (sorry not precise)
And if you want a ripper and the possibility of as legendary ripper, just farm Gunners Plaza. It's a frequent drop there and I personally find named weapons to be unappealing. They are locked versions of drop legendary weapons but you can't import mods to them. The Deliverer for example, is a Vats enhanced 10 mm with a unique skin. In theory you could get a Vats enhanced 10mm legendary and its identical in stats but if you have an advanced 10 mm as well, you can pull the mod and put it on your legendary. That's not the case with the Deliverer. For that you need to either have the PERK's or butter up Tinker Tom and be over leveled through the roof to have the Deliverer Advanced Receiver. The Overseers Guardian, same thing. It's a Legendary Double shot rifle with mod locks. tl;dr don't fret if you can't get it because there are better versions available by farming the legendary system.

Good thing that all Level 4 vendors are working well now without any bugs except with Trader Rylee where if you talk to her and recruit her she will join your settlement but if you do the Mystery Meat quest she just dissapears because she is somehow part of the quest for some reason for Smiling larry i was able to get him in ps4 what i did was i farmed a random encounter spot for ness and the preston garvey impersonator and killed them both so that they'd disappear so there will be a room for smiling larry to spawn in but they all work really well except for trader rylee i'm playing on ps4 btw
The ripper is basically a hand held chain saw but the chain is a bike chain not a real chainsaw chain with teeth to do substantial damage... I guess there is always the shishkabab...
if you need a vf melee weapon and have far harbour, just get the harvester, the staggering on it is a lot better than the sentinel on this. though if you get sentinel on all armour pieces you get to take no damage.
I haven't tried to get Smiling Larry but I got this bug with another mpc though, I think her name is Amanda if I remember I think she was a general store vender well, she never showed up even though the game said she was there....oh well. hope the bug gets fixed. Thanks for the guide, I may try & get this weapon at some point.
The way to fix the NPC not showing up at settlement: Send him to the closest nearby settlement, follow him until he gets there, once he is registered as a settler; send him to the settlement you want, then fast travel to said settlement.
put curved blade on a ripper because if you target the hands the target will drop their weapon. i made a raider drop a quad barrel missle launcher with this
yeah 7 damage per hit doesn't seem like much, but that is before you max the Big Leagues perk, get rank 2 of Rooted and get rank 3 of Bloody Mess.this will increase the base damage by 165% to a total of 18 damage per hit with bleeding for 25 points per second for each hit and hitting as fast as you can count and this thing will chew anything to shreds in seconds. And since this effect stacks with Rooted's defense buff its like the tree is holding the chainsaw instead of being cut down by it. I would probably prefer a different legendary effect on such a short weapon but then again with this I would probably be walking towards them to make sure they don't get out of range. I want to get a legendary Ripper and give it the name Jack. EDIT: Furious Ripper anyone? A stunning Ripper could be fun too.

That's because Reckoning doesn't spawn with modifications. You need to craft them to get the maximun damage output.

i think that having more shops help because settlers can get automatically assigned, so the shop is taken and counts like not having one.

yeah 7 damage per hit doesn't seem like much, but that is before you max the Big Leagues perk, get rank 2 of Rooted and get rank 3 of Bloody Mess.this will increase the base damage by 165% to a total of 18 damage per hit with bleeding for 25 points per second for each hit and hitting as fast as you can count and this thing will chew anything to shreds in seconds. And since this effect stacks with Rooted's defense buff its like the tree is holding the chainsaw instead of being cut down by it. I would probably prefer a different legendary effect on such a short weapon but then again with this I would probably be walking towards them to make sure they don't get out of range.
I want to get a legendary Ripper and give it the name Jack.
EDIT: Furious Ripper anyone? A stunning Ripper could be fun too.
