In case nobody noticed, the tesla shots don't just bounce from enemy to enemy, but also from surface to enemy. This means that you have to be half decent with your aim and you will almost ALWAYS hit due to the shot practically homing in on the target.

Now this is what I was hoping for when they announced the weapon customization system; multiple interesting and viable options. All the other weapons really only have one or two "best" ways to run it where as this weapon has multiple very unique and equally effective options. That's what I was hoping for when I heard that I could build my own weapons in the game, that I really could make my weapon the way I wanted it instead of just upgrading it in a fairly linear fashion.
The charging shotgun mod version of this gun is my favorite mainly because I hate feral gouls and this thing pretty much destroys all of them at once. Plus I always have a trusty laser pistol with an auto barrel that I use as a mid-long range weapon (I always make sure it has a good effect so it’s useful even for a sidearm)
Fun Fact: The devs were so lazy that the explosion data for the Orb projectile uses MIRELURK EGG SHELL EXPLOSION data. What baffled me was why they didn't use electrical explosion data that was already in the BASE GAME.

fun fact, you don't have to actually hit a target with the rifle, if an enemy is around a corner, it'll arc off the floor/wall and hit the target for a little less damage but it'll still usually take whatever it is down.
I had high sneak, just walked up behind her and took the fusion core to her power armor, fight was easy then lol and if you have time you can loot extra stuff not available after killing her.
I'd just like to point out that the actual power armor FRAME itself that Ivey wears is unique, as well. It is designated as Tesla Power Armor, rather than simply Power Armor. I'm unsure if the frame bestows any unique effects beyond that of a normal frame, but at the very least it has a unique name.
Also a tip for getting the tesla armor, if you kill her then attack the body parts with the tesla modifiers until they're broken, the armor will have a weight of 0.

They should add an expansion to the map, I know DLC is coming which will add a new area but the map really should get a huge addition, I was slightly disappointed when I had completed the game and started to explore the map and came to the realisation that the Mao is actually pretty small.

The Shotgun version reminds me a lot of the Holorifle from New Vegas, except with lesser range. Anyone agree with me? They both do insane amounts of damage, they have VERY unique effects to them, and they both fire a unique type of energy that hasn't really been seen in each of their respective games. There have been Tesla weapons in other Fallout games (Tesla - Beaton Prototype from NV and the Tesla Cannon from Broken Steel) but none have been able to do this amount of damage with such few cells used. With my old Fallout 3 character, the cannon only did about 100 damage or so and I had maxed out my energy weapon skill. Now, my character in 4 can do about 240 damage per SHOT with it. Granted, it factors in my Tesla power armor and 3 ranks of rifleman, but it's still an incredible amount. In New Vegas, the Holorifle replaced my Gauss Rifle, just because my Gauss used 4 Microfusion cells per shot and it used one cell, yet it did almost as much damage.
i have this thing where i like to shoot the fusion core on bandit power armor. they get out, i kill them, i get in. it does however label the suit as stolen and attachments as stolen.
Charging Barrel is the only good version of this rifle. If you're a VATS user, it works like a nerfed Gauss Rifle, and you don't really need scoping. Problem is, it's AP consumption is atrocious. Laser pistols are 1/2 as damaging but give you up to 4x as many shots in VATS.

This weapon reminds me of the Blitz Gun from Ratchet & Clank: Gone Commando. Works like a semi-auto weak shot gun and when you full charge it, it will fire a long thick beam I just realized that the Rustys getting blasted must be tanking about 1000s of degrees of electricity before going down

I use the shotgun variant to backup my plasma sniper. That plus my new heavy escort robot I'm having a really great time. But now we have to wait for the next dlc...which i understand is a really small settlement one. I want the big one already!!

I play on hard difficulty and I use the shotgun mod of Tesla rifle! It says it does 200+ damage but I'm not seeing it actually. it cant even one-shot a feral ghoul. i think as a shotgun modification Tesla rifle is inferior to combat shotgun.
watched the show and made a build for this and making robots, with all bobble heads and special book into luck my build is, 4 strength for armorer and black smith so i can make any robot parts, 5 perception for riflemen and some vats hit chance, 3 endurance just to get life giver, 6 charisma for local leader, 10 int but i max it before bobble head for 11 total for max xp but i took science and nuclear physicist for power armor, 5 agility for action boy, 3 luck for scrounger and bloody mess, i side with brother hood for the unique power armor parts so i have a full unique set with the tesla power armor parts, use the charging barrels on the tesla rifle and vats and it runs pretty good, but this build can clear the game easy build all robot parts, run supply lines, level up fast there is room for extra perks into base special stats lock picking and hacking can also go into a chem build easy for higher stats or inspiration to super buff the robots
so far the only use i got from the tesla rifle its for collecting porpurses, same for all automatron weapons for that matter, only the assaultron sword its fairly good and im not even a melle main user

I’d say that the shotgun is the most fitting mod, it just fits with the Tesla effect of the power armour, complimenting one another.
