You've got the right idea, life is too short to be boring! For me, flying a drone (any drone) brings me back to being a kid again and exploring. Thanks for the post!

The neo is also the best indoor flyer I've experienced. I understand the Zen. I have no interest in selfies or anything cinematic. The view from the air and the feeling of flight got me hooked. I never tire of it.

Yes I agree, flying a drone is great therapy. I fly as often as I can, love it. Great video Rick 👍

I feel the most at peace / stress-free then I can possibly describe when I put the goggles on and fly! It has literally saved my life!!

Thanks for sharing your feelings. I too, feel the same way. I always wanted to get my private pilot's license, but now at 62, I've found that flying the drone puts me in the pilot's seat safely, and cheaply. Plus, I get to share my videos on YT. Thanks for the video!

I definitely identify with the "zen" aspect. I'm recently retired from a high-pressure job in narcotics law enforcement. I have a lot of hobbies, but drone building and flying are near the top of stress relievers. I'm also a guitar player. Music gives me zen moments very much like drone flying, too. I think it's about concentration for me. You really can't think about too many distractions while flying if you want to stay airborne 😆. There's also a creative outlet aspect to flying that is like music making. I'm always filming while I'm flying. I enjoy editing those videos together with music and creating mini music videos. Drone building and flying are very good for your mental health. It's worrisome that there are so many people bent on destroying this wonderful hobby. Thanks for creating content that I find interesting, informative, and entertaining. Happy flying amigo. 🫡 🍻

I love flying my drone, especially now that I am getting better at it. Listening to your video, the presentation and your soothing voice really added a lot as to how I feel when I am in the air. Thanks.

I’m 56. I lost my wife five years ago and moved out of the state of California to Arkansas to get away from the bull crap. that aside I recently got back into drones and just purchased this thing a couple days ago and I bought the DJI mini two that I used to have and got rid of and regretted it. I had some of the bigger drones but too many regulations but yeah they’re a lot of fun. Call me crazy but I bought the RC2 controller just to fly the Neo. I wish it was compatible with more drones.

I'm sorry for your loss 🙏. I am happy that you escaped Commifornia, though. I made my escape almost six years ago after over twenty years stationed there with my job. Leaving there was a bigger zen moment than drone flying 😆. Happy flying amigo. 🫡 🍻

Exactly, it's the same thing that happened to me, although it's my first drone, Neo always goes out with me for any eventual opportunity to fly and capture places that I haven't explored from above yet. Congratulations on your energy and motivation!

agree, it is one of the best, most amazing feelings ever. More fun than almost anything else I have done. 98% of the time I wasn't even recording, I was just flying.

Mike, I agree and forget to hit the record button a lot too. I just get transported in the sky with the drone and love exploring new areas that I can't get to easily. It's the best experience I've had.

I just received mine on 19th Oct 2024 here in South Africa, an awesome little drone, and yes one needs a passion that allows one to escape our daily pressures, I fly drones for that purpose, so I know where you coming from Rick, thanks for this video.

This was a perfect (weather) day in NJ to make this video. I wouldn't have thought to make a video like this, but it was a great idea. Flying drones is definitely something that evokes the emotions you described. I hope this will influence a few people to give it a try. Thanks.

Quick question, can you fly the NEO with just the hand controller without the goggles?

Rick: Is there anywhere that a DJI NEO "fly more package" can be purchased with an RC-2 controller. They seem to come with the non-screen controller. Do I have to purchase everything separate? Thanks for the uplifting video. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

Just got my Neo the other day. Using the phone as controller is quite limiting… so Air 3s will be here in a few days and will try again using the RC2. Cheers

Although this Neo is a good drone, but I can’t fly it to follow me walking down the street on sidewalk. I can’t fly it in the city parks that I usually go to. I can’t fly it at the beach that I go to. I’m not sure how far do I have to travel out of my hometown just to fly a 15 minute drone.

  • @mssippijim
    @mssippijim 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I kind of wish DJI would have come out with a $299 package with Neo and a basic controller. Some folks get one and are limited to just the auto modes or cell phone control. To fully experience flight you need a real controller.

NEO needs ND filter mount !!!!!! Why no ability to put on ND filters ??? Are there ND filters for the NEO ??? See at about 17:22 you are using an absolutely ridiculous shutter speed of 1/1250 to get a proper exposure. ISO should be 100 in daylight to lessen noise but these unavoidable high shutter speeds are terrible. Sort this out and I will buy a Neo immediately. These high shutter speeds make video look like a 1980s news cast. Way to crisp and unnatural. Fix this please or is there a hack to get a ND filter on the NEO? Seems to me to be an easy thing to build to accommodate an ND filter.
