    Had mine for about a month and love it. I have compared this to our GC Hawk and there is only a slight difference in the numbers with woods and the drivers on most shots. On almost all iron shots the difference is only 1-2 yards. Comparing a $800 unit to a $25,000 unit and seeing those results, I have ZERO regrets buying the R10!

    • @sub_second_life3174
      @sub_second_life3174 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I highly doubt that your numbers are that close. Why would anyone even spend the extra money if they weren’t more accurate? My buddy has one and the numbers are decent but I promise you it isn’t giving you nearly as accurate of numbers as a GC Quad would.

    • @stevejackmon
      @stevejackmon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sub_second_life3174 Not sure what to tell you pal, go buy a Garmin R10 and then take it to somewhere with a different golf sim and do a comparison. I always bring my r10 to work and set it up while we are playing on our GC Hawk. I agree, it’s crazy to think about seeing the price point difference but that’s exactly why I’m so happy with it. The test for me will be when I can actually get this unit out on the driving range or the course and actually see real life ball flight compared to the r10 numbers.

      @@sub_second_life3174 you know things get exponentially cheaper and soon all of those products that they were charging for tens of thousands of dollars will be available to us for a couple thousand if not hundreds once the technology gets better. I’ve had an R10 since September and love it. I only used home tee hero for a few months as I go between that and e6. I’d like to try the Awesome Golf app that I see some of the other youtubers using with it. I have noticed that the numbers are more accurate when I spend a little extra time on setup and confirming that the alignment is correct. I 3D printed a stand to help make sure it’s not only aligned correctly, but perfectly level as well.

I’m just on my second year golfing and am certainly not willing to spend 20+K for a trackman, nor am I going to ever become a professional golfer🤣 The R10 is a perfect fit for me! I've had my R10 for almost 2months now. I've tested it at a indoor sim with a Uneekor EyeXO and its almost bang on with yardages. Although when using in my basement with low unfinished ceilings it always reads short 20ish yards. Several have complained about this on the Garmin forums. Once it gets warmer out i'll move to my garage and outdoor range. So far its pretty decent!

    Great review. I got one when they first came out last year, I had two gripes…1. The portrait only mode; and 2. Outdoors, the setup is a PITA unless you buy some after market aiming assistance devices…that little red line on top is too short to get it as accurate as it needs to be…I would usually set it up as good as I could, hit an intential draw or fade, and see if it read it correctly. Most of the times it was and you have to re-adjust. If you’re hitting to different targets that are in different directions, it winds up chewing up a lot of your range time…other than that, I loved the unit. I wound up going with the Mevo…I don’t get the fancy sim stuff (don’t use it anyway), or curvature of the ball, but it works great and since it doesn’t do curvature, you just plop it down behind you 6 feet and start whacking balls…

    portability is probably the least important factor in my opinion. You're usually carrying a huge golf bag with it anyways. And most people will get it for indoors.
    I got the Mevo+ and I'm glad I paid a bit extra because the precision is higher and the built-in "simulator" is pretty basic. And I can't stand subscription based stuff. (Mevo+ doesn't have any. But E6 and others do sadly) But I applaud the value for the price as it help make it available for normal joes like us. great review and I like that you highlight the limitations unlike some other channel that just read the pamphlet..

    This thing should be marketed more as an at home game. Something fun to do with your friends but not as a serious tool. Had one for a few months. I can say that with wedges and lower irons, it's fairly accurate. For higher swing speeds, it's much less reliable. Especially when it comes to the shape of the shot. the carry numbers are pretty good but the shape gets real crazy for something like a 2 iron or driver. I've tested it on the range. Not a bad option for the money but there's a reason the price difference between this and the serious units is so great.

    I just bought a used Garmin R10 after waiting for over 5 months for a new one. I find that the distances for my Driver/3 wood/hybrid are 10-20 yards shorter than I normally hit both on the range and inside. However, my iron shots are pretty accurate. I have a low trajectory, so that might be the issue with distances on my woods. I recommend it (if you can find one) due to the low cost and the fun of playing basically any course you want with home town hero I enjoyed your video keep up the good work.

    The R10 is best bang for buck - I’ve had mine since Nov and use in a 3m x 3.6m golf cage with net and a short throw projector onto a 1.6m X 1m screen mounted high above the impact zone - works great after dusk and accurate…yes spin reads a little high and overall distances seem a tad under to real world but no launch monitor is bang on. My only ask would to be able to connect the R10 directly to my laptop rather than use my iPhone. E6 is great but I get much higher graphic resolution On my laptop. It’s A pain to have to use the R10 to iPhone to laptop to projector set up…BTW I spoke with a pro who uses Trackman in coaching and he says even the high end units struggle with high club swing speeds

    I ordered and paid for a R10 on December 1. I'm still waiting for it. The latest projection is sometime in April, but they've already moved the delivery date back twice, so it won't surprise me to get another notice that it will be delayed further. I had built a large tent, with a golf net and a propane heater, so that when the unit arrived I could play simulated golf and hit balls with some idea as to ball direction over the winter. Too late for that now. I recommend to your subscribers that, if they're considering a Garmin R10, they wait until they're back in stock or look at other options. Otherwise, it may be several months or longer before they receive their unit.

      The Garmin Golf app is available for both Android and iOS. All of our tests were with traditional golf balls, no reflectors, etc.

    The biggest fail I've seen on it is clubhead/ball speed. The clubface angle and path seem to be pretty close, but it's not giving me anything close to an accurate ball flight when it shows my driver club head speed at 30 mph. I understand that I'm not going to get GC Quad level accuracy from a $600 monitor, but it's not giving me any useable data. I've tried setting it up indoors and outdoors in the parameters (distance from the ball/net) and kept it level, so I can't find any user error that I can chalk it up to. I took it to the range to see how the real world ball flight compared to what the monitor showed, and it wasn't even close. I'd hit a good, straight 160 yard 7 iron and the monitor would show a 90 yard duck hook. Anyone have any advice? I've made sure the firmware is updated. I got better results from one of those electronic Optishot pads.

    I think the new update will make the app work in landscape mode

      The global chip shortage that has been hitting cars and PC components and tablets and phones also affect units like these since they need pretty advanced tech to keep track of the balls :) So when this happens everyone who wants to make quick money buys them up at a retailer and puts them up for sale 50-100% more expensive than MSRP.
      So yeah... basically scalping... and it sucks, bigtime!

      Top golf has that type of balls with a chip built in. But you can tell it is not a real golf ball anymore. Lol

    • @NonnyStrikes
      @NonnyStrikes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duyushui1 100% know what you mean. It's where I got the idea from. It stems from the outer shell. They might have to create a softer outer and harder inner shell. It's got me studying physics and geometry like never before haha.
      What are your thoughts on this? I know there is a way to do it, without losing the feel or distance of a real ball. What baffles me is why it hasn't been done yet. More money to be made on trackmans? Cause you'd still scuff or crack the ball eventually... leading to more purchases.
      Not only would it save time on the course, but it would really help people that truly want to improve. If I could analyze my swing after, by what was happening to the ball, it would save me hours upon hours of swings. No more losing golf balls either, so while the group behind me is about to tee off, I'm already at my ball ready to hit...instead of wandering around some bushes or trees (lol) trying to find mine and making them wait, or hit at me. We all know that guy. We were there at some point and time. It's just examples.
