Some tips as someone who had to learn this jet on their own. 1. Do NOT turn off your radar, switch to IRST. Enemies won’t get an RWR ping if you spot them with IRST and you can still slave the missiles with it. 2. Before actually getting to the battle field, only go 0.94 mach as that is the cruise speed at lower altitude. Only start after burning again after you spot someone within 8-10km. You have to conserve fuel. 3. Only ever flare once with each missile. It’s generally enough since they are large caliber and do NOT pre flare. Maybe do it once or twice if your in a fur ball just in case. 4. All of your missiles are on the bottom, so roll and move your aircraft to help your missiles. They will perform insanely well at 0.7-0.4km if you lock and roll your aircraft to have them launch straight. Completely unflareable. 5. Don’t go high, trust me, just don’t. F-4S’s are a pain as well as any radar missile since you don’t have an RWR. 6. Only run flares.
Fun tip on this plane - carry 2 dumbfire rocked pods, that you can carry with 6 RB24. Them have a lot of usage 1. You can youse them as flares sometimes. Turn of your afterburner and fire one roket, than change direction just a little, and watch enemy's aam falls for it 2. You have CCIP on them, so you can dubm-fire them at base before going for rearm or ground pound artillery and AA 3. You can use them as cind of guns with trasers, just spam them at someone who running away and pray for hit. One direct hit will be more than enough 4. Them can be used as missle decoy, provoking your opponent drop a flare, increasing chance of run out of them, or ignoring real RB24. It works best on F-111, because this rokets triggers the MAW Overall, it's an amazing attachment to your plane, that doesn't interrupt your flight performance a lot, you still destroy everything in dogfight, but increasing capabilities and thing you can do A LOT. And if you find yourself turning with another J35 - just jettiosn roket pod and fight with same preformance
The one thing I hate about the XS right now is the fact that everyone has decided to spam it and apparently completely ignore its great characteristics as a fighter whilst rocket spamming bases. I love having full teams of XS players but all of them unable to fight.
Agreed, I never bought the j35xs but had flown the j35d, even without flares you can kinda comfortably dodge aim 9L's and r60s (if you have speed in it).

i just bought the j35xs like 2 days ago and im really starting to feel myself into this plane i was (i am) a china main and started grinding china with the a5c bc the j7D didnt exist then but im glad that i played the a5c because i have over 750 matches in this jet and with my new j35xs im really used to not have that many flares
I also take 2 rocket pods (you can still get 6 missiles since it's on an empty hardpoint). It effectively makes you immune to front missiles (su25s, a10s etc) and in certain angles it can spoof missiles from the back too.
I’ve wanted to buy this plane for so long. I see the XS pilots literally using this plane so wrong it painful. And they complain about low flare count I’m like dude, you can RP an F104, you can pull insane aoa and G’s if you want to, you have 6 radar slaved missiles. It’s one of the best premiums at its BR, and I see people complain and fly it like shit. It’s truly a WarThunder moment
@@tobi2233 actually yes it is, because the 24J is based on the P-1, and the P-1 is literally just a renamed 9J for export. They're the same missile, except for the P and 24J having the ability to radar slave. Thats the ONLY difference. They are otherwise identical in absolutely every single aspect.
All Aspect R-3R's are a godsend because you know how few countermeasures these things are packing.......you know what in general at this BR people are inept at countering radar missiles the Mig 21S is my all time favourite plane at this BR you don't really need any countermeasures as long as your fast.
I always carry two rocket pods and 6 RB24J's. The IRST is quite handy for slaving indeed. As a British/French main this plane feels like a dream to fly, easy to get multiple kills each game. The only sad thing is the high amount of teammates that die because of 2/3rd of your team being new to jets sometimes. I think this plane could be 11.0 i it had RWR, but idk if that's warranted in the current matchmaker. Nice vid!
Unless the Draken player actually knows what they're doing, yeah. That won't be the case most times since the vast majority of players that play this are shitters, but you won't ever get me locked into that fight. You can try but you'll fail, its not as hard to counter as you think.

But then if the j35 misses that shot and sticks the fight, there's basically nothing they can do from there other than maybe run, but then they'll be so low on energy that the F5E can just catch them

One of my first premium jets was the J35A. I always found it interesting that people think it's OP, yet every tactics guide starts with, focus on ground attackers and players who are too distracted to notice you. It's advice that any plane can use, but it is the only option for the J35A, because in reality its weapon systems are so poor compared to other fighter jets at its BR. The J35XS may be an upgrade over the J35A, with better missiles and a few flares, but it's placed at a BR where it's as obsolete as the J35A. In the end, it is relegated to using the same ambush tactics. The missiles are outdated, it has very limited countermeasures, and you have to guess at where your guns (oops, I meant "gun") is aiming. The sad truth is, the only way it gets kills is by preying on non-combat aircraft, or those that are pinned down by your teammates already.
J35A is cancer to play against though. UFO flight performance relative to its BR. It’s only drawback is it’s weaponry, but it that doesn’t make it any more pleasant to be on the receiving end of it
What are you talking about? I have 164 matches and 295 kills in the 35XS the thing absolutely SLAPS at its BR. In full downtiers it isn’t fair and and if you play your cards right you get 2-5 kills even in full uptiers. 90% of my deaths in the 35xs have been because of my mistakes not the plane

I'm not sure it has anything to recommend it over the AIM-9E, which is also uncaged with 20g pull. Sitting at 10.7, the XS also has few opponents at its BR. There are more, and popular, jets at 11.0/11.3, so it's going to be low tier often - more 9L's. All of the J35's are ambush jets, that rely primarily on opponents being too slow, or too unaware, to defend against a surprise missile out of the blue. In a 1v1 situation, they are relatively easy to counter. Don't take it from me, watch any review on the jet and you're going to hear the same things.
@kilozulu2413 10.0-11.0 are very common so no. And even then aim9j is still a good missiles and u get 6. The most missiles on a jet until 11.0(beside the f111 but it's just aim9bs so breh). And every jet has its weakness in a 1v1. J35 not being an expecting doesn't make it a a bad jet
Some very straight forward and simple tips: -Radar isn't necessarily the best, but it's a decent addition, with the right keybind, you can slave missiles using IRST mode. -Always go for maximum fuel, the engine drinks faster than a Spitfire LF Mk.IX, I suggest you to just get up to 1000kph and then stop afterburning there after until visual contact is achieved with the opposition -DO NOT DOGFIGHT, unless it's a 1v1 or you're certain that no one is gonna come to crash the duel. -Turning hard is not recommended, blacks you pilot out very quickly and you lose a lot of speed than other jets which makes you an easy target, it's better to slowly turn whilst using your maneuvrebility as a last resort either to dodge missile to initiate an overshoot, -you better ditch your first 2 missiles, those are dead weight, just pop them off at some target so you can regain your maneuvrebility, don't be wasteful still. -try barrel rolling to dodge missiles, it actually works, unless you're facing AIM-9Ls and R-60Ms, then use your precious flares. -Lead your missiles, standard procedure y'all probably know this already but the AIM-9Js are uncaged with a massive guidance arc, so just lead your missiles accordingly just like your guns, it'll save the missile some trouble pulling. -Never try flying at high alt,you have 12 pops of CMs which tops up to 6 triggers, using Mixed CMs also reduced your triggers to 3 times so it's recommended that you just stay on deck because F-4S and MiG-23MLs will be hounding you up there using AIM-7s and R-24Rs with the latter being quite deadly coz it has IOG -And also keep in mind you can only flare 6 times, and usually a single flare is enough since it's large caliber, just use it sparingly -Running away was and will never be the option, you got a good engine but acceleration wise it's not the greatest, so it's best for you to turn hard and roll, engaging in evasive maneuvres to evade missile and get the enemy to overshoot, then quickly dip your nose on them and launch the missile whilst they're still 400 metres apart from you.
little tip from personal experience, change your radar to irst mode and use the irst to slave your missles at high attitude and in dogfights. I can't confirm this part but I think the irst helps to improve flear resistant as I've gotten alot more kills with the irst then I have without when someone flears
That thing is one of the only Jets I fear (main harrier GR7) it's one of the few that can get a shot on me before I thrust vector and out turn, I would much rather fight 2 F-16s honestly
Would be worthwhile to mention the IRST the XS has and the other way you can play the plane of being a sneaky little shithead and flanking low and fast.
Seek would you mind if we had a 1v1 dogfight in custom battles? I’d prefer Jets if yes since I’m more established in those but I won’t say no going to props and learn something new

I just started playing planes about two months ago as I started playing the game in general I’m already to rank seven on tanks and a lot of different countries but planes. I bought a couple packs like I got the mega 23 pack but I just can’t get the controller I’m on PS five to set up to play planes and fire like misses my controller.
You don’t “learn the guns” on this jet. You actually just learn “the gun”. But no for real you learn this particular gun on stuff like harriers, British, French Jets that have the 30 mm defa. I got ace crew on av8 with experience alone and the gun on this jet was no problem to learn. Just a bit off center but that’s ok
I appreciate this, since I couldn't stand using the JA37C to grind the D and eventual Grippen (copium this winter) anymore. So I bought the J35XS to make my life a little easier.
It is almost impossible to teach a noob how to fly these top tier jet premiums. They have all the advantages with all the upgrades unlocked already and still suck because so much pre-requisite knowledge goes into flying these planes. I commend your effort in this video but it is all for naught as those of us who can actually utilize this information to any degree have already "been there and done that"... This entire could have been 9:24 and it would be more accurate in respect to teaching noobs. The whole point of being a noob is that you need to experience it all and struggle and suffer just to get decent and the learning curve is immense. I get people don't mind the help but war thunder really is a game where you need someone to do 1 on 1 coaching for the best teaching experience. Videos like these only go so far.
Damn bro, should've told me this before I bought this off the summer sale. Although I've played Swedish and German air trees both up to around 6br but the jump up in difficulty was still pretty rough. Most annoying thing has been trying to get all the keybinds in working order.
Think it's worth buying instead of a talisman for either Viggen? I play mostly in sim and the radar on those two is extremely useful, but the matchmaker puts you against top tier most days whereas the 35XS gets to always be near the top of it's bracket
if you got a viggen id say talisman it. way better off money wise and you play a diffrent jet than others so you got the advantage of people not knowing what you are/do. the only real reason you wanna play this is to grind out the viggens or you are a seal clubber at 10.3/10.7 for premium noobs.
don't be the first one in and stay near the majority of your team at all times. (usually means go left at the start). Staying with the team is important throughout the entire match though. Top tier kills come from distracted enemies. If you have no teammates in your area, the enemy has no distractions. You'll be dead very quickly and not able to land any missiles on them. So yeah pretty much just bait your teammates and learn how to do it as efficiently and strategically as possible - sad state of the game but it is what it is
I’ve had the game for 7 or 8 years and decided to buy the xs half off (alr owning the j35 a from long ago) and flying the new j35s is a horrible experience. Yeah they hold more speed but why would I play a delta wing for energy retention? Also before the update you could just press ur w key to energy fight and not pull like a mad man at low speed (flat spin) but the noobs ruined that. I can get plenty of kills with 6 aim9js and that grenade launcher of a cannon but it’s just not fun. Doesn’t pull like a delta until ur at like 400mph ias (convert it urself) it’s decent and fun sometimes but I wouldn’t have bought it knowing about the new compression first hand. I’m the video you said it can still pull pretty good and that’s true but you CANNOT bleed speed to get on someone’s 6 like a delta wing should be able to. I like delta wings cause you can stay fast and pick people off OR bleed all of your speed in one turn and shoot ‘em in the back of the head but that’s gone. Ok rant over I feel better ik y’all don’t care

It's not very good but it does work, I used to use it all the time back in 2015. And it's not a scam like everyone says either, the app makers do actually work with and have permission from Gaijin, otherwise it simply just wouldn't work.

I was headed back to base in my 104g, red-lining without ordinance and one of these ran me down like I was standing still. Couldn't believe it...

pretty sure the hardpoints those rockets go on should also have drop tanks, would be nice to not have to RTB two or three times in a match.

Small correction: the RB24J is a redesignated version of the AIM-9P, not the AIM-9J.

Thr aim9j is still good at 10.7? And. U have 6 them while most fighters carry 2 or at most 4... so it has one of better kits

Would be worthwhile to mention the IRST the XS has and the other way you can play the plane of being a sneaky little shithead and flanking low and fast.

You forgot to mention you cant see where you're shooting your guns. No tracer rounds makes it hard for noobs to learn where to shoot.

I will say this about the J35XS if you go too slow it turns like a brick, if you got too fast it turns like a brick.
I would prefer the J35A over it.

I just started playing planes about two months ago as I started playing the game in general I’m already to rank seven on tanks and a lot of different countries but planes. I bought a couple packs like I got the mega 23 pack but I just can’t get the controller I’m on PS five to set up to play planes and fire like misses my controller.

You don’t “learn the guns” on this jet. You actually just learn “the gun”. But no for real you learn this particular gun on stuff like harriers, British, French Jets that have the 30 mm defa. I got ace crew on av8 with experience alone and the gun on this jet was no problem to learn. Just a bit off center but that’s ok
Yeah the mounting position can completely change how you aim a particular plane, despite the actual ballistics being identical
I think J35XS is not a good plane for unexperinced jet pilot for many reasons

I appreciate this, since I couldn't stand using the JA37C to grind the D and eventual Grippen (copium this winter) anymore. So I bought the J35XS to make my life a little easier.
This i currently (october 2024) the worst premium aircraft you can get.
It is almost impossible to teach a noob how to fly these top tier jet premiums. They have all the advantages with all the upgrades unlocked already and still suck because so much pre-requisite knowledge goes into flying these planes. I commend your effort in this video but it is all for naught as those of us who can actually utilize this information to any degree have already "been there and done that"... This entire could have been 9:24 and it would be more accurate in respect to teaching noobs. The whole point of being a noob is that you need to experience it all and struggle and suffer just to get decent and the learning curve is immense. I get people don't mind the help but war thunder really is a game where you need someone to do 1 on 1 coaching for the best teaching experience. Videos like these only go so far.

Although I've played Swedish and German air trees both up to around 6br but the jump up in difficulty was still pretty rough.

It does help that at 10.7, you can decoy most IR missiles with only one pop aside from a couple exceptions
Radar missles only ever seem to be an issue at high altitudes. I always seem to dodge them in head-ons

Think it's worth buying instead of a talisman for either Viggen? I play mostly in sim and the radar on those two is extremely useful, but the matchmaker puts you against top tier most days whereas the 35XS gets to always be near the top of it's bracket
XS has a much better MM that’s for sure, but i would recommend waiting until it’s on sale again
if you got a viggen id say talisman it. way better off money wise and you play a diffrent jet than others so you got the advantage of people not knowing what you are/do. the only real reason you wanna play this is to grind out the viggens or you are a seal clubber at 10.3/10.7 for premium noobs.

don't be the first one in and stay near the majority of your team at all times. (usually means go left at the start). Staying with the team is important throughout the entire match though. Top tier kills come from distracted enemies. If you have no teammates in your area, the enemy has no distractions. You'll be dead very quickly and not able to land any missiles on them. So yeah pretty much just bait your teammates and learn how to do it as efficiently and strategically as possible - sad state of the game but it is what it is

I’ve had the game for 7 or 8 years and decided to buy the xs half off (alr owning the j35 a from long ago) and flying the new j35s is a horrible experience. Yeah they hold more speed but why would I play a delta wing for energy retention? Also before the update you could just press ur w key to energy fight and not pull like a mad man at low speed (flat spin) but the noobs ruined that. I can get plenty of kills with 6 aim9js and that grenade launcher of a cannon but it’s just not fun. Doesn’t pull like a delta until ur at like 400mph ias (convert it urself) it’s decent and fun sometimes but I wouldn’t have bought it knowing about the new compression first hand. I’m the video you said it can still pull pretty good and that’s true but you CANNOT bleed speed to get on someone’s 6 like a delta wing should be able to. I like delta wings cause you can stay fast and pick people off OR bleed all of your speed in one turn and shoot ‘em in the back of the head but that’s gone. Ok rant over I feel better ik y’all don’t care

it does, but it is far less efficient GE/hours spent than just working a job.
It’s basically one of those sites we’re they advertise other games/products in exchange for a very little amount of GE. Basically install this game and get this far in to claim 10ge or buy this product for 100 ge.
It's not very good but it does work, I used to use it all the time back in 2015. And it's not a scam like everyone says either, the app makers do actually work with and have permission from Gaijin, otherwise it simply just wouldn't work.
Got I think 8k from it but you spend half the time just sorting out good options.
