I think its gaijins way to prevent from pay to win. Buyers get acces to other tiers because theyre playing completely different from another. You buy access and a mid tiered plane with a lot of work to master and decent performance so you still evolve and grind for the top models. I think its a pretty good way for skipping the meh props and playing what you like. I bought the f4s two weeks ago and had a lot of fun researching, testing, playing and grinding. Dont regret any euro and now im near my beloved f14. I like the way they place the premiums, and i also think the „buyer hater“ should be happy for the thrill of: is it a free frag or is this guy blasting me away with its mid tiered but mastered plane
On the flip-side I got the 23ML today and I'm having a blast. Watched a couple radar and missile videos and I average 1 to 3 kills with the occasional 'chaff and notching while on the deck doing nothing' 0 kills, deaths.
The J35 is known for being the first jet to be able to perform a Cobra, if you want to buy it for the Cobra maneuver then be prepared to be disappointed because no varient of the Draken in War Thunder can perform a Cobra anymore because of the flight model changes, you can get close to performing a Cobra, but it will never truly be a Cobra maneuver

@@Badwolf3378 I agree, but at the same time it is next to impossible because everything can out-turn you and get behind you and just sit there. If you try to outrun them you get a missile in the ass. If you try to turn to dodge (which you can't) they catch you can gun you down. You can't win. All you can do is hope to third-party one or two people before you inevitably die.
It an okay plane. I'm glad you enjoy it. If it was a tech tree (aka free) vehicle I wouldn't have been as negative as I am about this plane. My issue is that for 70 USD, you can get your hands on better, more fun aircraft.
Gonna be honest, when I see this thing in the f-5E I see a pretty easy kill. It's very rare I see anyone who actually knows how to fly it and even when they do it just struggles to keep up with the Tiger II's energy retention.
Yeah pretty much the same thing here when i see it. While im flying the F8E since its lacking a lot of chaff and flares its pretty much an easy kill for me.
Yeah, though I do hate versing this thing with my Daimler Mk ii because I can't do anything against the Daimler's "Grand Slam" 50 kg bombs. They always pilot snipe my engine :(
j35xs performs better late game when there is not much people around and you can just fly straight without worrying about dodging 100 missiles and bleed all your speed. Thereafter you can just run trains on people going at 1430kmh on the deck ensuring absolutely nobody can catch you up
The thing about Drakens is they should be played as ambush hunters - they have decent speed and a lot of missles, so you fly to the side low, engage enemies from the back (A-10s or Su-25s) make as many kills as you can. Then you fly back to base (because you have only 20 minutes of fuel), reload and dominate the end game with maneuverabilty and guns.
@@WalvisYT Until the end game like described at the end of the comment, the draken can maneuver. It def has a large learning curve, but it is my fav jet credit grinder hands down. You get used to the gun after some time
for me, I agree with some points, like how the gun is hard to use and flares are limited. I find it really overpowered at its br. I have not gotten a lot of uptiers for me so it helps the plane do better. I also like its flight model because at speeds of mach .85-.9, it holds it energy fairly well due to it compressing and it still turns super good at low speeds. I also like how it's fast enough to outrun a good amount of enemy's you face. also since it gets a lot of missile that are decent, I can use them at closer range if I cant hit my shots with my gun. this plane also suits my play style of flanking from the left or orbital striking people who are unaware. you definitely need to pick your fights with it and check your 6 a lot and put yourself into a good poistion. this is not as beginner friendly as the f5c is. my main issue is the low fuel it gets, forcing you to come back to base. though I do like how it can take a good amount of damage. my kdr with it as been 2.4 overall from all matches with it
This was in the initial edit, but I decided to cut it out after doing some testing. Due to the relatively slow fuel burn with the afterburner turned on, it does actually last for quite a while compared to some other jets around this BR. More fuel would be better, but I wouldn't call this a shortcoming either.
My Suggestion : Pray for down-tier which you will get a lot , stay high in down tier and low in uptier , stay fast , don’t engage with Dogfight unless absolutely necessary , Remember you are one of the fastest jet in this BR, in up tier try to get into the rear of Hottest afterburner jets like F4 and Tornado , they can’t flare you missile and they can’t cut their afterburner easily (takes time) , take rocket pod for extra flare but it’s gets heavy ! remember you are not the main character with J35XS so pick your target carefully

I find it to be quite a fun aircraft, imo all it’s short comings make it all the more fun when you really curb stomp the enemy, which this this is more than capable, however, you really need to know what your getting into before buying it in my opinion
I bought it a while back and play with full controls in VR. The plane was absolutely hilarious with full controls and a HOTAS. Sure I crashed sometimes by flat spinning it, but overall it was a plane that could get on anyone's tail and stay there. Now it flies like a brick on rails. It's not that it can't turn, it just doesn't have any nose authority. No more cobras, no more crazy speed dumps, it's utterly boring to fly. It flies a lot like bombers did 10 years ago when they had placeholder flight models. No character at all. Currently my favorite is the Kfir Canard for premiums, it's a lot like the old J35XS but with only 2 missiles in exchange for a guaranteed base kill.
I have both the j35A and the xs I feel both planes are great if used correctly and the xs has been a great help in grinding through the Swedish tech tree and I personally love it it’s exactly my play style but I get where you come from. But I don’t regret it at all I got top tier Sweden in 3 weeks flat starting at rank 5 mid way, it has a great modifier more on rp and it’s awesome. Thanks for the vid keep going!!
Instead of learning flare management learn missile management. Know what you can outpull and what you can’t to preserve your CM amount. The gun is a great gun it is just wonkily-placed which is something to get used to. Perfect premium where it’s not brain dead but not absolute garbage either. But also not the perfect premium as it is Finland’s most powerful fighter before the Hornet.
Honestly I love the j35xs. I’m having lots of fun and the gun is not an issue anymore as I got used to it. As well the flares are more than enough as I barley use then and survive almost all the time and get at least 3 air kills.
Great to hear you are enjoying this jet. That is what is most important at the end of the day. That said, I HIGHLY doubt you get atleast 3 kills per battle (if you are playing RB).
@@WalvisYT i still don't know why people throw this statistic around like it means anything, im getting LITERALLY about 70% of matches with about 3-5 kills a match with the mig-21smt firing r60's from space at braindead f5c players and then boom and zooming. that doesnt make me the best player in the world. im like an octuple ace in the smt at this point, and it doesnt feel like im doing anything different, their are just more idiots around right now.
Huh? This thing is great. Because the J35 can pull so much you can really get those missiles on point, and they are decently flare resistant. Even tho you only get 12 flares, you only need one pop to flare a missile. And Yes, the gun has no traces, but after a while, you get used to aim them. And finally, its so easy to get behind targets, and 10.7 matchmaker is absolutely lovely.
bro the j35xs is easily the best tier for tier 10.7 in this game together with the f5e. 10.7 always gets full downtiers, in which many jets at that br have 2 missiles, missiles that do not pull many g's and are very prone to flares. the j35 is made for flying high, diving on already engaged targets, popping a missile from 3km going downhill, then rinsing and repeating until it's incredible load of 6 aim9j's are depleted. After that, with the state of f5c and su25k mains, it has at least 3-4 kills and rtb's, or decides to dogfight something, and out turns it instantly then has all day to hit its shot with it's difficult to use 30mm. then it rtb's. the thing is very solid walvis u just dont comprehend how to use it.
I actually Dog fought 2 of them at the same time in an F-5E at low ground and they both lost / got killed because they both missed 7 missles in total and both ran out of ammo. Its just a very niche aircraft that requires TONS of skill.
This piece of art is a money printer! If you're not able to fly it properly don't blame it. You can out out maneuver nearly everything with it. And the point with the flares, you can use them one by one.
as a person who just did 4 days of non stop grinding with the j35xs you need the load out with 6 missiles and with the extra pilons carry 2 rocket pods to act as flares and to go against ground targets
The pre-nerf flight performance was amazing I loved it but now it doesn’t turn as much and feels like a normal delta and a bit worthless to fly rather than all the other deltas unless you’re grinding. I have the J35A so it’s just a watered down XS and I felt the fix/nerf hard man it honestly made me want to stop playing Sweden it was boring to just play another just another delta.
I think the j35xs is a really good jet in comparison to other premium jets within the same kind of br range. You get 6 good missiles, you get some counters, gun, and rockets. You also get tons of hardpoints, which the majority of premium jets do not have. The f5c get low G missiles, the av8 is barely an attacker, the A10 is slow, the mig 21 sks-k only gets 3 hardpoints and 1 being used only for either a gun OR countermeasures.
Finally someone that calls out the shortcomings of the overhyped aircraft. Really enjoyed your differing opinion on the german sea hawk too. And to be honest I don´t think the rb 24 are that good either, just "ok". Underrated channel.
The last thing about the aircraft not being good for beginners is honestly what i think about the swedish tech tree as a whole, it has some good things like the J35D and the CV90s but alot of its vehicles have quirks and shortfalls that you need to be well aware of.
I can't agree too much with this video for the fundamental reason that I believe the J35XS is actually good. - You made no mention of the IRST and the plane's insane ability to sneak up on those unsuspecting. - The energy retention of the aircraft, when you know how to manage your turn, is very good as far as deltas go and much better than the Viggen, comes close to rivaling that of the Mirage 2000C series. - Gun placement can just be mitigated with practice. - Stop panic popping your flares whenever you see a missile coming. This J35 runs pretty cool. Pop one and hide your afterburner. - Don't worry about RWR if you're after situational awareness. Fly low and mitigate an potential axis of attack. If you suspect a plane is locking you with SARH missile, learn how to fly the notch and force them to overshoot. - Don't charge into unwinnable situations (duh). This plane is excellent at dealing with individuals who try to flank and go wide. Forcing yourself into unwinnable situations (like several F-5s at once) WILL get you killed, no matter what plane you fly. Learn to use your radar, its pretty decent and will give you an idea of what you're up against.
recently opened 2 cases and got a coupon and sold it, meaning i suddenly had 220GJN, so i bought this thing. havent played much yet so its a shame to see its not that good of a plane. as a (dedicated, fuck you sweden's awesome...) sweden player who wouldn't make the most of premium account time, this is really the only option i had for a worthwhile purchase.
This plane is some of the most fun ive had in this game in years this and the finish mig 21 bis, the low flares can be limiting if you dont play right, do put yourself in a position to get missiled, normally it only takes one flare pop per missile, keep your speed up, come from above, missile and climb again, i normally get 3-6 kills per game in that jer, it is really really fun if you play smart
with the summer sale(meaning my F-15A at 12.3 gets downteired to 11.3 often) and the new update pushing 12.0-12.7 into 13.0 as well, somehow I've versed the J-35XS in a few games(12.3 F-15 with 7Ms and 9Ms against a 10.7 Dorito with RB24Js) (god they need to fix the matchmaker)
Generally agreed to this video, one thing u ddint mention its that this plane is a very very good trainer for the ja37c and the ja37d. Ive basially grinded whole air sweden with only this thing.
Its perfect for ambushes where you drop behind your victim, nimble enough to dictate the dogfight and powerful enough to boost away ehen overwhelmed. The flares are great for short engagements, they are high caliber flares after all. The flight model change happened not only to the XS, it happened to all delta shaped aircrafts. Maybe its just my particular playstyle but it works really well and i love the XS to bits. The gun really is garbage, tho.
Well about the gun: it should get the radar lead indicator soon. About the fuel: it still lacks its drop tank. The flight model change really sucks and destroys the Draken's speciality in unstable flying. You forgor one thing though: it has an IRST which you can use to sling missiles more effectively.
First reason not to get, is it’s £70! Ridiculous prices per top tier planes from Gaijin, when they age & date verily poorly with now they want aaa game price per prem plane ! gaijin are high on there own smoke in this world. Soon £100 is coming - they got so greedy many are leaving in droves if they keep them all £30 max they sell many more more but gaijin keep up screwing your player base in most things. I like coming across this jet in the F-5E. A lot of the time I swoop in from above players just below contrail height with radar off, so they never see me coming. They're pretty scary if they get right behind you tho, bc they can maneuver better than you at low speeds, at the cost of bleeding a lot of speed. In my experience, most players in this jet are the equivalent of most F-5C players. Generally unaware and struggle in a dogfight. It is always fun when you get a skilled pilot in one tho. Good dogfights are why I play the game. Sidenote: I feel like a lot of people see 6 missiles and go "OOH MISSILES" when they buy this jet. I get it, but whenever I get a new jet I look up reviews and such to get a good idea of it's strengths and weaknesses, and I feel like a lot of people just don't do that. I'll even look at videos of jets I normally fight to get a good idea of what they're best and worst at too.
Honestly having played the J35A a lot recently, there was plenty of times I thought that if I had just a few flares and I could win a match even in full uptiers. I'm definetaly set on buying the J35XS, but I'm not shelving out $70 on any pixel plane, I'm gonna wait until it goes on sale and then buy it.
buy it, its the most fun Ive had playing war thunder in a while, climb to 20-30k feet, then drop down behind enemies, once ur behind them, they can't really do much.

i recently got the j35XS and i totally love it, im really eager to finish the swedish tree and ive found it to really work on flanks and using the rockets to get some more rp from bases also helps
As a Sweden main I have over 300+ hours in the J35XS and I see people using this aircraft wrong. You are meant to be dogfighting people. You should use only one pop of flares for a missle, if you can doge a ir missle do it. In up-tiers hug the ground.
I have the Su22M3 squadron and is kinda like this, 12 flares, 6 R60s but... is an atack aircraft, so is nice to go for bases but even with the variable swept wings is not very agile, still, at 10.7 you can climb to the exosphere and drop the missiles to get easy kills (and the 300 shots from the 30mm cannons are quite good)
Aidens are some of the worst guns in the game at that BR, especially if you cant see the damn rounds. Played a large number of games in this thing after getting it for 30 days and the gun was a nightmare to use. Sometimes did damage sometimes did nothing. That and missiles are so easy to flare.
I didn't feel like talking about it in this video. In the future I will make a more ramble style video where I just talking over / about one specific match.

Honestly it seems like the j35 could be a really good ground attacker put some guided missiles or some guided bombs on it and I bet that thing would devastate anything
i still enjoy the J35A even after the nerf in flight model. in the drakens its all about positioning and i believe that all of the "shortcomings" mentioned in this video can be overcome with situational awareness and positioning. im not opposed to the video but i just feel that you bullied the xs draken a little too much for what it is. granted no pixle plane should cost 70 usd lol
Tbh when using my J35A (cant buy it anymore sadly) the guns feel super good if you can get used to the lack of tracers. They don't feel that affected by realshatter and hit hard, super reliable guns from my experience. I haven't played the J35XS though but the fact that it gets only 1 of them probably is a huge throwoff, just like when I unlocked my strike viggen (10.3 one), the single wing mounted pod is horrible, unless you wanna sacrifice having no flares for 2 pods :).
It's pretty overpowered to be brutally honest. Considering all other planes have some weakness, just cause this has a weakness doesn't mean it sucks, it just has a weakness ( like all other premiums ) and that weakness is kind of strong sure but it's definitely not unusable. I can't tell you how many times I've been killed by this thing and there was literally nothing I could've done about it. 😊
First things first, I never said the XS sucks. The TLDR of this video is simply; the XS is an okay plane, and it can do quite well in ARB. But it isn’t exactly the easiest to use while also not being the best at anything, other than the quantity of missiles that it carries. At the same time, the XS also doesn’t feel very fun or rewarding to fly. Thus, although it is an okay fighter, it’s not exactly a great value premium either. Second, the XS is not overpowered. Again, the only thing truly impressive about the XS is the amount of (very easily countered) missiles that it carries. There are other jets at 10.7 which are far more potent than the XS in terms of flight performance. Can you do well in the XS? Sure! Can you win dogfights in the XS? Yes! Are there worse planes than the XS? Absolutely. Does all of this mean the XS is overpowered? Absolutely not. The XS is good, just not great. Just to re-iterate; the XS is fine. Eventhough flying the XS can be a bit of handful, it’s a good plane and can be competitive in the context of ARB. That said, its manoeuvrability is not on par with the likes of the F-5E for example. So, although the XS is decent, is just not special or good enough to warrant being worth 70 USD. I hope this clears things up.

Can you revisit the A5-C? It's definitely experinced a meta shift, but I'd argue it's still one of the best 10.0's out there, a more refined missile bus than the A-10 and SU-25 :3, especially considering the underwhelming J-7D that china gets as an rank 7 prem
I disagree... this aircraft got me through the Swedish tree pretty easily after a little trial and error. It has IRST lock giving its missiles a pretty sweet platform to smack which no streamer ever mentions it. Its not easy to survive if you bring 6 missles. Bring 4 and dip to reload early. Get it and learn it while you grind the entire tree no problem.
I have racked up about 700 games in the J35D and I absolutley love it! It has its flaws and the biggest one beeing no countermeasures. Ever since the flight model update i have basically stopped playing it because like you said: it feels kinda sluggish. The missiles are in my opinion very suitable for the aircraft (and they are even better now that they moved it down to 10.3 BR) and you quickly learn how to use them to your advantage, however the guns are not the same story. I could basically not aim the guns for the first 200-300 matches and it in many situations got me killed becasue I ran out of ammo. After 700 matches my K/D-ratio sits at around about 2.7 and I still like to bring it out sometimes. In conclusion: the Draken requires quite a lot of skill to play but when you learn to use it effectivley you can easily outplay basically any other aircraft with a few exceptions like the f-5E.
My man. Give full real (sim controls) a shot. Itll become anything but sluggish. -from someone who spent 1500h in the A/D sim controls. Itll easily compete with f14s and alikes. Hell even f16s and mig29s if you know what youre doing.
@@thomaspowell8519 Basically just boom and zoom everything. Don’t make sharp turns, avoid dogfights. Fly left, resist to urge to enter the furball etc. I fly it by going pretty far left and climbing up to just below contrails (around 5500m) then flying all the way to their rear and picking off A-10s, AV-8s etc. If I don’t get a kill on my first pass, I generally keep flying away and reset. Almost nothing can catch you, especially if you put it in a slight climb. It’s an absolute beast, when flown correctly, and like Defyn says in his video, it’s literally a pay-to-win jet. More so than any other jet in the game I think.
Except you need single flare to avoid misile with it if you use them properly. This aircraft is amazing but require some learning, especialy its cannon.
As someone who's played the J35D for years, I couldn't care less about the XS. It really is just an excuse to add a copy paste viggen to have people buy a $70 premium
You put the mig-23ml below the kfir and f4s? Its one of the most op premiums to ever be added. I have it and used it to grind the mig29 and i frequently found myself winning dogfights against f16s and mig29s in it. Not to mention the 2 blatantly overpowered radar missiles.
Kfir Canard Video Next? I noticed you rated it above the Goofy Finnish Dorito and the Kfir Canard is a plane that i think is a real hidden gem. I regretted buying it until i had played about 20 matches in it and learned how to properly fly it. Now that i have learned to use it i have come to really enjoy flying it and i used it to grind the Netz. 2nd Question. Given how you showcased multiple tier list images/slides in this video i was wondering if you had given any thought to doing a tier list video for the Rank 6-7/BR 9.7 - 10.7 Premiums? Or for all the planes in the Fox 2 Meta at 9.7 - 10.7? I know its outside the scope of your normal videos but i think that it would make for great content, especially if you did it round table style with Joob, Seek, Lee and Jaek all actively providing input. I imagine some pretty funny banter would come out of that discussion.
i think it's always a hard thing to say if its worth or not. Do you really have a other choice for sweden now? People also said Milan wasnt worth it but i loved grinding with it tbh

It's not bad with a teammate and tactics r-60s and slight climb to out run even a f-5. Quite interesting in SIM I found.

I saw this on my recommendation and i was honestly shocked. I love this thing and do very well in it. Sad to think alot of other people dnt enjoy it.

Put two pilots of equal skill in these two jets and the Drakken will win every time. You’re probably killing lvl 20 wallet warriors.
j35xs performs better late game when there is not much people around and you can just fly straight without worrying about dodging 100 missiles and bleed all your speed. Thereafter you can just run trains on people going at 1430kmh on the deck ensuring absolutely nobody can catch you up
The thing about Drakens is they should be played as ambush hunters - they have decent speed and a lot of missles, so you fly to the side low, engage enemies from the back (A-10s or Su-25s) make as many kills as you can. Then you fly back to base (because you have only 20 minutes of fuel), reload and dominate the end game with maneuverabilty and guns.
In other words; its a gimped F-104G.

A thing people seem to forget is that the drakens are not fighters it's an interceptor
for me, I agree with some points, like how the gun is hard to use and flares are limited. I find it really overpowered at its br. I have not gotten a lot of uptiers for me so it helps the plane do better. I also like its flight model because at speeds of mach .85-.9, it holds it energy fairly well due to it compressing and it still turns super good at low speeds. I also like how it's fast enough to outrun a good amount of enemy's you face. also since it gets a lot of missile that are decent, I can use them at closer range if I cant hit my shots with my gun. this plane also suits my play style of flanking from the left or orbital striking people who are unaware. you definitely need to pick your fights with it and check your 6 a lot and put yourself into a good poistion. this is not as beginner friendly as the f5c is. my main issue is the low fuel it gets, forcing you to come back to base. though I do like how it can take a good amount of damage. my kdr with it as been 2.4 overall from all matches with it

This was in the initial edit, but I decided to cut it out after doing some testing.
Due to the relatively slow fuel burn with the afterburner turned on, it does actually last for quite a while compared to some other jets around this BR.
More fuel would be better, but I wouldn't call this a shortcoming either.
it goes 1300 on first stage after burner on deck where your 21 minutes of fuel lasts longer than mig21's 30 minutes at the same speed

My Suggestion : Pray for down-tier which you will get a lot , stay high in down tier and low in uptier , stay fast , don’t engage with Dogfight unless absolutely necessary , Remember you are one of the fastest jet in this BR, in up tier try to get into the rear of Hottest afterburner jets like F4 and Tornado , they can’t flare you missile and they can’t cut their afterburner easily (takes time) , take rocket pod for extra flare but it’s gets heavy ! remember you are not the main character with J35XS so pick your target carefully

I bought it a while back and play with full controls in VR. The plane was absolutely hilarious with full controls and a HOTAS. Sure I crashed sometimes by flat spinning it, but overall it was a plane that could get on anyone's tail and stay there. Now it flies like a brick on rails. It's not that it can't turn, it just doesn't have any nose authority. No more cobras, no more crazy speed dumps, it's utterly boring to fly. It flies a lot like bombers did 10 years ago when they had placeholder flight models. No character at all. Currently my favorite is the Kfir Canard for premiums, it's a lot like the old J35XS but with only 2 missiles in exchange for a guaranteed base kill.

I have both the j35A and the xs I feel both planes are great if used correctly and the xs has been a great help in grinding through the Swedish tech tree and I personally love it it’s exactly my play style but I get where you come from. But I don’t regret it at all I got top tier Sweden in 3 weeks flat starting at rank 5 mid way, it has a great modifier more on rp and it’s awesome. Thanks for the vid keep going!!
Instead of learning flare management learn missile management. Know what you can outpull and what you can’t to preserve your CM amount.
The gun is a great gun it is just wonkily-placed which is something to get used to.
Perfect premium where it’s not brain dead but not absolute garbage either. But also not the perfect premium as it is Finland’s most powerful fighter before the Hornet.
Honestly I love the j35xs. I’m having lots of fun and the gun is not an issue anymore as I got used to it. As well the flares are more than enough as I barley use then and survive almost all the time and get at least 3 air kills.

That said, I HIGHLY doubt you get atleast 3 kills per battle (if you are playing RB).

Huh? This thing is great. Because the J35 can pull so much you can really get those missiles on point, and they are decently flare resistant. Even tho you only get 12 flares, you only need one pop to flare a missile. And Yes, the gun has no traces, but after a while, you get used to aim them. And finally, its so easy to get behind targets, and 10.7 matchmaker is absolutely lovely.
Because you don't get uptierd a lot, you dont really need flares. I really do recommend buying this if you want to grind Sweden.
bro the j35xs is easily the best tier for tier 10.7 in this game together with the f5e. 10.7 always gets full downtiers, in which many jets at that br have 2 missiles, missiles that do not pull many g's and are very prone to flares. the j35 is made for flying high, diving on already engaged targets, popping a missile from 3km going downhill, then rinsing and repeating until it's incredible load of 6 aim9j's are depleted. After that, with the state of f5c and su25k mains, it has at least 3-4 kills and rtb's, or decides to dogfight something, and out turns it instantly then has all day to hit its shot with it's difficult to use 30mm. then it rtb's. the thing is very solid walvis u just dont comprehend how to use it.
I actually Dog fought 2 of them at the same time in an F-5E at low ground and they both lost / got killed because they both missed 7 missles in total and both ran out of ammo.
Its just a very niche aircraft that requires TONS of skill.

as a person who just did 4 days of non stop grinding with the j35xs you need the load out with 6 missiles and with the extra pilons carry 2 rocket pods to act as flares and to go against ground targets
The pre-nerf flight performance was amazing I loved it but now it doesn’t turn as much and feels like a normal delta and a bit worthless to fly rather than all the other deltas unless you’re grinding. I have the J35A so it’s just a watered down XS and I felt the fix/nerf hard man it honestly made me want to stop playing Sweden it was boring to just play another just another delta.
I think the j35xs is a really good jet in comparison to other premium jets within the same kind of br range. You get 6 good missiles, you get some counters, gun, and rockets. You also get tons of hardpoints, which the majority of premium jets do not have. The f5c get low G missiles, the av8 is barely an attacker, the A10 is slow, the mig 21 sks-k only gets 3 hardpoints and 1 being used only for either a gun OR countermeasures.
I think that points out how much of a scam most high rank premiums are rather than being a point in favor of the XS being a good purchase.

Finally someone that calls out the shortcomings of the overhyped aircraft. Really enjoyed your differing opinion on the german sea hawk too. And to be honest I don´t think the rb 24 are that good either, just "ok".

The last thing about the aircraft not being good for beginners is honestly what i think about the swedish tech tree as a whole, it has some good things like the J35D and the CV90s but alot of its vehicles have quirks and shortfalls that you need to be well aware of.
I can't agree too much with this video for the fundamental reason that I believe the J35XS is actually good.
- You made no mention of the IRST and the plane's insane ability to sneak up on those unsuspecting.
- The energy retention of the aircraft, when you know how to manage your turn, is very good as far as deltas go and much better than the Viggen, comes close to rivaling that of the Mirage 2000C series.
- Gun placement can just be mitigated with practice.
- Stop panic popping your flares whenever you see a missile coming. This J35 runs pretty cool. Pop one and hide your afterburner.
- Don't worry about RWR if you're after situational awareness. Fly low and mitigate an potential axis of attack. If you suspect a plane is locking you with SARH missile, learn how to fly the notch and force them to overshoot.
- Don't charge into unwinnable situations (duh). This plane is excellent at dealing with individuals who try to flank and go wide. Forcing yourself into unwinnable situations (like several F-5s at once) WILL get you killed, no matter what plane you fly. Learn to use your radar, its pretty decent and will give you an idea of what you're up against.
TLDR of your comment is: the J-35XS is handicapped, but not unplayable.

recently opened 2 cases and got a coupon and sold it, meaning i suddenly had 220GJN, so i bought this thing. havent played much yet so its a shame to see its not that good of a plane. as a (dedicated, fuck you sweden's awesome...) sweden player who wouldn't make the most of premium account time, this is really the only option i had for a worthwhile purchase.
This plane is some of the most fun ive had in this game in years this and the finish mig 21 bis, the low flares can be limiting if you dont play right, do put yourself in a position to get missiled, normally it only takes one flare pop per missile, keep your speed up, come from above, missile and climb again, i normally get 3-6 kills per game in that jer, it is really really fun if you play smart
Also dont get in turn fights with f5e you will get your ass beat, you turn fight basically everything else

That "Mediocre" Jet is another in the long list of jets that are a complete pain in the ass to fight against. (F-105 main)
Anything with 18G+ missiles is a pain in the ass to fight against while using the F-105.
with the summer sale(meaning my F-15A at 12.3 gets downteired to 11.3 often) and the new update pushing 12.0-12.7 into 13.0 as well, somehow I've versed the J-35XS in a few games(12.3 F-15 with 7Ms and 9Ms against a 10.7 Dorito with RB24Js) (god they need to fix the matchmaker)
It's also a flying wing, and as such has a MASSIVE profile. Like, you physically cannot miss it while it's turning.

Generally agreed to this video, one thing u ddint mention its that this plane is a very very good trainer for the ja37c and the ja37d. Ive basially grinded whole air sweden with only this thing.
Its perfect for ambushes where you drop behind your victim, nimble enough to dictate the dogfight and powerful enough to boost away ehen overwhelmed.
The flares are great for short engagements, they are high caliber flares after all.
The flight model change happened not only to the XS, it happened to all delta shaped aircrafts.
Maybe its just my particular playstyle but it works really well and i love the XS to bits. The gun really is garbage, tho.
Well about the gun: it should get the radar lead indicator soon.
About the fuel: it still lacks its drop tank.
The flight model change really sucks and destroys the Draken's speciality in unstable flying.
You forgor one thing though: it has an IRST which you can use to sling missiles more effectively.

First reason not to get, is it’s £70! Ridiculous prices per top tier planes from Gaijin, when they age & date verily poorly with now they want aaa game price per prem plane ! gaijin are high on there own smoke in this world. Soon £100 is coming - they got so greedy many are leaving in droves if they keep them all £30 max they sell many more more but gaijin keep up screwing your player base in most things.

I like coming across this jet in the F-5E. A lot of the time I swoop in from above players just below contrail height with radar off, so they never see me coming. They're pretty scary if they get right behind you tho, bc they can maneuver better than you at low speeds, at the cost of bleeding a lot of speed. In my experience, most players in this jet are the equivalent of most F-5C players. Generally unaware and struggle in a dogfight. It is always fun when you get a skilled pilot in one tho. Good dogfights are why I play the game.
Sidenote: I feel like a lot of people see 6 missiles and go "OOH MISSILES" when they buy this jet. I get it, but whenever I get a new jet I look up reviews and such to get a good idea of it's strengths and weaknesses, and I feel like a lot of people just don't do that. I'll even look at videos of jets I normally fight to get a good idea of what they're best and worst at too.
All you gotta do is boom and zoom and you can’t basically ignore missles since you’ll be too high up

Honestly having played the J35A a lot recently, there was plenty of times I thought that if I had just a few flares and I could win a match even in full uptiers. I'm definetaly set on buying the J35XS, but I'm not shelving out $70 on any pixel plane, I'm gonna wait until it goes on sale and then buy it.
The J35A is a lot more fun in every regard, except for the lack of flares. If it did get flares it would be my favorite 9.7 in the game.

As a Sweden main I have over 300+ hours in the J35XS and I see people using this aircraft wrong. You are meant to be dogfighting people. You should use only one pop of flares for a missle, if you can doge a ir missle do it. In up-tiers hug the ground.

I have the Su22M3 squadron and is kinda like this, 12 flares, 6 R60s but... is an atack aircraft, so is nice to go for bases but even with the variable swept wings is not very agile, still, at 10.7 you can climb to the exosphere and drop the missiles to get easy kills (and the 300 shots from the 30mm cannons are quite good)
The German tech tree version has like 64 flares I think so a bit better

Sure you only get 1 gun, but the ADEN is amazing, it 1 shots, and I use stealth belts using this gun on all planes anyways :)
Aidens are some of the worst guns in the game at that BR, especially if you cant see the damn rounds. Played a large number of games in this thing after getting it for 30 days and the gun was a nightmare to use. Sometimes did damage sometimes did nothing. That and missiles are so easy to flare.

Tbh when using my J35A (cant buy it anymore sadly) the guns feel super good if you can get used to the lack of tracers. They don't feel that affected by realshatter and hit hard, super reliable guns from my experience. I haven't played the J35XS though but the fact that it gets only 1 of them probably is a huge throwoff, just like when I unlocked my strike viggen (10.3 one), the single wing mounted pod is horrible, unless you wanna sacrifice having no flares for 2 pods :).

It's pretty overpowered to be brutally honest. Considering all other planes have some weakness, just cause this has a weakness doesn't mean it sucks, it just has a weakness ( like all other premiums ) and that weakness is kind of strong sure but it's definitely not unusable. I can't tell you how many times I've been killed by this thing and there was literally nothing I could've done about it. 😊
First things first, I never said the XS sucks. The TLDR of this video is simply; the XS is an okay plane, and it can do quite well in ARB. But it isn’t exactly the easiest to use while also not being the best at anything, other than the quantity of missiles that it carries. At the same time, the XS also doesn’t feel very fun or rewarding to fly. Thus, although it is an okay fighter, it’s not exactly a great value premium either.
Second, the XS is not overpowered. Again, the only thing truly impressive about the XS is the amount of (very easily countered) missiles that it carries. There are other jets at 10.7 which are far more potent than the XS in terms of flight performance. Can you do well in the XS? Sure! Can you win dogfights in the XS? Yes! Are there worse planes than the XS? Absolutely. Does all of this mean the XS is overpowered? Absolutely not. The XS is good, just not great.
Just to re-iterate; the XS is fine. Eventhough flying the XS can be a bit of handful, it’s a good plane and can be competitive in the context of ARB. That said, its manoeuvrability is not on par with the likes of the F-5E for example. So, although the XS is decent, is just not special or good enough to warrant being worth 70 USD.

Can you revisit the A5-C? It's definitely experinced a meta shift, but I'd argue it's still one of the best 10.0's out there, a more refined missile bus than the A-10 and SU-25 :3, especially considering the underwhelming J-7D that china gets as an rank 7 prem
I disagree... this aircraft got me through the Swedish tree pretty easily after a little trial and error. It has IRST lock giving its missiles a pretty sweet platform to smack which no streamer ever mentions it. Its not easy to survive if you bring 6 missles. Bring 4 and dip to reload early. Get it and learn it while you grind the entire tree no problem.

I have racked up about 700 games in the J35D and I absolutley love it! It has its flaws and the biggest one beeing no countermeasures. Ever since the flight model update i have basically stopped playing it because like you said: it feels kinda sluggish. The missiles are in my opinion very suitable for the aircraft (and they are even better now that they moved it down to 10.3 BR) and you quickly learn how to use them to your advantage, however the guns are not the same story. I could basically not aim the guns for the first 200-300 matches and it in many situations got me killed becasue I ran out of ammo. After 700 matches my K/D-ratio sits at around about 2.7 and I still like to bring it out sometimes.
In conclusion: the Draken requires quite a lot of skill to play but when you learn to use it effectivley you can easily outplay basically any other aircraft with a few exceptions like the f-5E.
My man. Give full real (sim controls) a shot. Itll become anything but sluggish.

This jet is an absolutely outstanding grinder for Sweden - you just need to fly it like a mig. I have a close to 4:1 K/D ratio in it.

@@thomaspowell8519 Basically just boom and zoom everything. Don’t make sharp turns, avoid dogfights. Fly left, resist to urge to enter the furball etc. I fly it by going pretty far left and climbing up to just below contrails (around 5500m) then flying all the way to their rear and picking off A-10s, AV-8s etc. If I don’t get a kill on my first pass, I generally keep flying away and reset. Almost nothing can catch you, especially if you put it in a slight climb. It’s an absolute beast, when flown correctly, and like Defyn says in his video, it’s literally a pay-to-win jet. More so than any other jet in the game I think.
Except you need single flare to avoid misile with it if you use them properly. This aircraft is amazing but require some learning, especialy its cannon.
As someone who's played the J35D for years, I couldn't care less about the XS. It really is just an excuse to add a copy paste viggen to have people buy a $70 premium
You put the mig-23ml below the kfir and f4s? Its one of the most op premiums to ever be added. I have it and used it to grind the mig29 and i frequently found myself winning dogfights against f16s and mig29s in it. Not to mention the 2 blatantly overpowered radar missiles.

Kfir Canard Video Next? I noticed you rated it above the Goofy Finnish Dorito and the Kfir Canard is a plane that i think is a real hidden gem. I regretted buying it until i had played about 20 matches in it and learned how to properly fly it. Now that i have learned to use it i have come to really enjoy flying it and i used it to grind the Netz.
2nd Question. Given how you showcased multiple tier list images/slides in this video i was wondering if you had given any thought to doing a tier list video for the Rank 6-7/BR 9.7 - 10.7 Premiums? Or for all the planes in the Fox 2 Meta at 9.7 - 10.7? I know its outside the scope of your normal videos but i think that it would make for great content, especially if you did it round table style with Joob, Seek, Lee and Jaek all actively providing input. I imagine some pretty funny banter would come out of that discussion.
