- Hey everyone! Today I’m going to tell you everything (well most everything) you need to know about becoming a bank teller and what to expect in a bank teller interview & some tips on how to get the job!
I am a banking professional so everything that I discuss in this video is from a professional stand point of someone with experience.

Hi, can you tell me what more requirements they need for banking teller like typing speed per minute and anything else they look
There’s no wpm requirement. You will not do too much typing of words to be honest. You’ll be punching the # keys on the right side of the keyboard all day long!!
I got passed my 2nd interview, and do background, credit checked, after thati have to do assessment test, i passed all of that and now i am still waiting to do what's next?
Im a teller and everything you said is spot on. However, never had a drug test, never had any assessment with math related concepts, was never even trained on how to handle money. They focused heavily on the customer service side because "most transactions are reversible." 18 years old and a full time college student studying economics!!
PhilPhresh33 how do you deal with the sales goals you have to meet? that’s always been my weakest link bc I don’t like shoving services to customers’ faces knowing they’re not into it ruining the customer service experience
Sales? I cashed out my checks at BoA several times, no one selling anything to me.? Are they not doing their job right?

Omg how do you multitask college with being a teller if typical banks hours aren’t flexible since they usually open at 10am-5pm Monday-Friday, Saturday’s 10-2pm or 9:30am-4pm M-Thrs, Sat 9:30-12

Hey guys! I see most of you guys’ comments are concerned about the interview process & how to land the job. Melissa really gave out some great pointers but it all comes down to your confidence.
Do your homework on the bank, speak with confidence, give eye contact & prepare! I cannot stress that enough, you have to- have to- have to prepare for your interview! You shouldn’t go in there completely clueless.
Prepare yourself for possible questions, google interview questions they may ask, write out scenarios that they may ask you about, make sure to have questions ready for them at the end & one thing that they may catch you off guard on is the role playing! So preparing yourself & your confidence is what’s gonna land you your job, your experience just backs it up but even if you don’t have experience if you have a great personality they will hire you, anyone is coachable, you just have to be willing. That’s what I wanted to yell at our bank when the teller yelled across the room because my daughter was opening an acct. “hey, I saw your wife today”, like, wtf. Isn’t that a privacy violation, to give information out about another person and their acct.
Melissa, bless your heart! This was such an informative and educational tutorial for people that are striving to enter the banking industry. I applied for a teller position with Wells Fargo and completed both my video responses and phone interview within 3 days. The phone interview I had with the recruiter was supposed to be 30 minutes, however, she spoke with me for roughly 5 minutes and explained what the hourly wage was and asked if I had any questions. I reiterated that I am a proactive individual who is a team player who would like to grow with a prospective employer like Wells Fargo. The recruiter seemed extremely happy with my responses and stated how my application is now being forwarded to the local branch and that she wishes me "All the best of luck going forward!" Truthfully, I was a little nervous at first but your video has helped me to become for confident as I move forward. In my opinion, it looks promising and I'm fully prepared for my face-to-face interview.

Melissa Freeman I’m a banker most of the time and a teller when they need me! Our branch is small so on days when we get busy is when I’m a teller. Best job I’ve ever had!.. I didn’t know you were a banker either so when I watched this I was like omg!!😍
Rylene Hindley yep! Personal Banker. I do the opening of estates, IOLTA, checking, savings, ya know the whole 9! I open personal loans & credit but I’m not qualified to do Mortgage

It was so fast with the recruiter and it went good and she’s going to forward my resume to the hiring manager for that location. It is for a part time peak 18 hour teller position. What do you think about it?

My interview went great! They were very happy that I knew the CEO of the bank and the bank’s core values :) I should hear tomorrow or Tuesday if they are interested in a second interview!

I can't believe you replied! I was wondering if it's alright to wear black jeans for a job interview. I do not have slacks or skirts appropriate for an interview. :( But of course, i will pair it with a formal top and a blazer.

Zora zowrath no!!! Jeans of any color or denim at all is a huge no no! You have to have slacks. That is what is required as dress wear even for your interview
Zora zowrath that might be okay. Pair it with a very nice professional looking top. And remember offices are always cold!

Melissa Freeman it went great! I was interviewed by 3 branch managers at the same time, and at the end of it, they said they all think I might be overqualified, they suggested why I hadn’t applied for personal banker instead!
Danny Cuevas that’s what I was when leaving! You could totally do it!!
Melissa Freeman any advice on that position? I never looked in to it because I thought you had to work you’re way up as bank teller, but I was told with all the experience I’ve got I should have no problem doing that job!
The personal banker will be responsible for opening, closing, and maintaining accounts. You’ll help with any issues they like do research to find errors that they can’t figure out.
You’ll be expected so do some serious sales in a Personal Banker position.
Like bundling checking and savings account and credit cards and some places do mortgages sales as well. You’ll open Estate accounts and IOLTAs .... trying to think of what all it entails!
