Great video! I watched almost every bit of it. Crazy how we can get mesmerized by chainsaws. And that Alder was splitting soooo easy! That'll make ya feel like a real man when it splits easy like that!
I for sure get lost watching saws. Kinda like watching a fire, I feel like DAYS could be lost ;) My camera fell over, but all that alder was split with one "whack." Doesn't get better than splitting green alder! Definitely makes a guy feel he has muscles again haha
Wow ur a Heck of a Mechanic .......Watched bout 4 of Ur Saw repair Videos ( Very East to Follow 4 Novice ) ... in Future would Love 2 see you Explain How You Tune & Set up Carb Thanks Rod ,,,,, ( new Subscriber ) 👍
My camera fell over, but that's about how the whole thing was split. Wherever it laid, it got "golfed." I think it took like 10 min to split the whole lot of it.
I find most gains come from just a muffler mod and ignition timing advance on these saws. Cylinder port work is always an option. I find for time spent in the tiny little cramped cylinder, the work isn't worth the gains. Being it's a clamshell design, without extensive machine work, most you can do is widen the ports to 65% of bore. If you have a timing wheel you could add a few degrees of timing to the intake port or remove it from the piston skirt on the intake side. I don't have any set of "numbers" for this saw per se.
It's a "spin off" of IBEW. A close friend was in the union. So when he opened a local bar, he made an "International Brotherhood of Social Drinkers" shirt. It's different, but looks like IBEW. We support all union workers, so it was only appropriate. I get asked all the time. I'm in the United Steel Workers Union myself.
Great video. Those are definitely the best days of our lives! 👍👊

Holy Toledo. I split until I couldn’t lift the splitter any more yesterday in knotty ponderosa…that alder splits so easy, jealous!
Long time ago I split some willow or something in a river bottom in the mountains. I just split it laying down like I was golfing, it split so easy.
