I was a Vikings expert back then, Herschel ran for over a hundred yards against Green Bay in his first game as a Viking but never reached that milestone again.
Walker was a good player but the Vikings were unfortunately was not well coached they had a good team sad they couldn't get it done in terms of Dallas it had to be done cuz Walker wasn't helping troy emmit was more the fit for dallas
Do anybody notice that when the trade first went down, everybody thought Jerry n Jimmy were idiots for trading Herschel especially the Dallas media. Turns out they were geniuses because they outsmarted the Vikings front office by making them they were keep all the players that they gave Dallas. The Vikings were so caught up in we're one great running back away from win it all which they had the right idea but the wrong running back n the JJ boys knew they was gonna flip those players into draft choices from the start. Wow what a move Jerry n Jimmy
The Running Back was still seen as the one key link in winning a championship. 3 decades later, no running back really carries a team except Derrick Henry to some extent.
In general, a trade is where both sides are happy. As it turned out in the long run, only one specific group thought it was not the worst deal, but the best one.
A strong running back is what they "apparently" needed at the time to bring the Vikes a championship. Walker was the best. It just did not work out. However it sure gave Dallas several championships.
Not not fair, Walker was a great player. At the time, the Vikes needed one more piece of the puzzle to hopefully get them to the Super Bowl, but it did not work out.
I think the lesson of this trade was that it's not really just the guys that touch the ball that wins for you, but the whole team.

AMAZING how much draft capital RB’s commanded (rightfully so). Kind of like Ricky Williams in ‘99.
Thanks for the RUNBACK footage:)...Epic...
You are welcome, it was quite an even in itself, let alone what it meant to the Vikings and Cowboys future.
Thanks For Uploading ☺🏈
@ 3:20 and this is when we knew something was "wrong" with Michael Irvin. Hell of a Wide Receiver though.
He looks and sounds geeked out of his gourd.
Love that those dudes were like “okay pay me now” to the media haaaa
Awesome!! Thanks once again!!

CMC says hello
@@lennyb9286 we'll see what happens with him
I forget how old espn is
It’s funny how Coach Berns looks like Mr Berns of the Simpsons
One of the worst trades in NFL history.......the Vikings got hosed......just like the Broncos got hosed by Seattle this year

Two great announcers
This was a stupid trade in history by the Vikings

The infamous great trade robbery.
Dan Patrick
Jerry Jones never was young
The Cowboys got a boatload of draft picks and the Vikings got a lunatic. Sounds fair. Haha!

Herschel Walker and Donald Trump put the New Jersey Generals on the USFL map. Two men who only know winning.
lunatic😅😂
*Smh*
😭
Michael Irvin was a no name receiver on a last place team who couldn’t sniff the playoffs, why not laugh.
It worked in his favor lol.
