Well I've tried cata clean in the past when my check engine light came on for the catalytic converter and it turned the check engine light off kept it off and improve my gas miles immensely. It is a little pricey so I was looking to see if there was something that is just as good for a better price but for the amount of money I saved on gas I really just shouldn't stray I don't think

Cataclean worked brilliantly for me. A failed MOT in my Golf R with a CO reading of 1.4 was reduced to below 0.2 in a matter of 4 days and 200 miles of fairly rapid, high rpm driving. I was told that it would work, but was sceptical. Now I'm delighted that i did.
Always use a full synthetic, give it at least 5 seconds of running before driving a cold engine, full throttle only when the oil is up to temp.(10-15 minutes of driving), if you have been driving hard (in the boost) drive easy or let it idle for 5 minutes before turning it off. Change your oil every 5K or 6 months, which ever comes first. Costco has 10qts on sale for $32, sale ends today!

If they aren’t marketed as cleaning the exhaust system, then it isn’t doing it; marketing executives would put it on their bottle if their lawyers didn’t have a good reason to not put it on the label. Fuel system cleaners are unnecessary if you use catalytic converter cleaner a couple times a year
If you are going to try cleaning your cay, get long leather gloves and apton. But you need to remove it first and check 4 internal damage or nothing you do will work . And then WASH it out with soap & HOT water. Do not use anything that might cause electrolysis or it's over.
What about the Lacquer thinner technique? Is Lacquer a better cleaner? My Cat is about 10 to 12 years old. I replaced the original as it was super old and was done. 95 Civic. It passed Smog 1 1/2 years ago but the guy said I should buy a new one as it only passed by 2 points. I am going to try this method or maybe both. Any thoughts?
@@MikeKollin In old cars you are best off replacing it with a new one if you're keeping it a little longer. Cataclean is only a temporary solution. For mid-life cars ( 7-12 yrs) one should use Cataclean once a year or 2 years. Older vehicles twice every year, especially if you neglected your car throughout its life.

Seafoam tells you it ISN’T a catalytic cleaner. Fuel system, yes, but not specific to the CAT.
Nor is Tecton or Max clean
