This is my favorite gym leader battle theme of the entire series. It's so great and it perfectly fits strong Pokemon, like Slaking... And the last part fits Truant...
B/W2 is the better remixed version (because it sounded so much more faithful to the original, and overall felt like a true 100% likeable remix), but the remakes of 3rd gen has the more faithful tone in style & higher quality. (Way too many noticeable beats/instruments missing in the remakes.. it's not even funny.) Sorry, but that alone is not going to give it to the remakes. In order the best versions are, the original, B/W2 version, then OR/AS.
It's natural to complain about stuff that had changed in transition to a newer version. It's why many people hate the newer Pokémon games and the newer Pokémon within it.
One thing that kills B2W2 remix is this certain sound, that constantly plays in increments, that sounds like this piccolo, xylophone sounding piece that feels horribly out of place. One thing I like about this remix is the overall grandiose feeling of this theme.
@@KarjamP about stuff that changed in the transition? let me educate ya. frlg were great remakes, they faithfully translated the style and aesthetic feel they were going for in the original to the gba, and the music was pretty much just upgraded to the midi format, which was perfect. hg ss went above and beyond, keeping just the right about the same, converting the fantastic style and aesthetic just like they did with frlg, and stacked so much more on top of it that maintained that same style, and once again upgraded the music to the midi format. these 2 remakes were faithful, and introduced those gens to new kids for a similar way they were introduced to kids that first played those original generations, as well as incredible to people who played the original gens to bear witness to what the gen looks like under better graphics. Some of the best remakes of all time in that regard. but in a majority of these aspects, oras fails. it loses so much essence of gen 3. so much of the rough edge, powerful style wasn't translated to the remake, the music is stringey and weak, and loses out on depth the original versions had. the actual gameplay probably couldn't being across the same rough edge feel as a result of the transition to 3D, 2D to 2D translation for frlg and hgss was perfect, the style cannot be replicated for 3D. rse were very fast paced, the sprites had a rough edge to them, sorry, it's hard to describe the aesthetic of gen 3 any other way but rough for me. oras couldn't live up to the potential for a gen 3 remake, especially after the masterpiece remakes of frlg and hgss. the things that made the pokemon remakes great was not changing things in the transition to the newer version, but improving upon what was already there. so yes, we gen 3 fans will complain about what changed in the transition, because things shouldn't have changed the way they did to make a fantastic remake like frlg and hgss. sure, the style may be the fault of 3D visuals, but the music is inexcusable.
@@Logos729 FR/LG aren't actually faithful to begin with; believe it or not, they've actually changed the message of each song, which explains why they sound less serious than their RBY equivalents and the songs from Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee. (Also, MIDI is a music networking protocal, and also a name of a very specific file format. FR/LG did not use MIDI files for its sound engine, aside from, perhaps, as a means of storing data before it gets compiled into the format that sound engine can recognize.) Let me also point out that HG/SS also changes some of the songs in several ways, from simple expansion to a mere style change; the Johto trainer battle theme, for instance, has very little bass parts within it, while Silver's battle theme's guitar section is what became of the original song's bass. Just because the HG/SS incarnation of the soundtrack still happens to be faithful, to say that it kept to the original style, etc., is completely wrong. Believe it or not, the songs within the OS/AS is completely faithful. As I've said, people complain about the stuff that's been changed, and this includes the style of the original pieces. Style does not dictate whether or not something's faithful, nor, for that matter, would whether or not you'd like that something to begin with. It's the messages that determine the faithfullness of something, not personal tastes... (Rely on personal tastes like that, and you will be played for a sucker; many people actually rely on that sort of thing to make a living. The official composers for Pokémon don't, but those who falsly proclaim themselves to be "fans" do so when they make re-arrangements of these songs.)

I hold a crazy emotional attachment to these games, and despite my negative opinion of oras I did cry at almost every new song due to nostalgia. but nah, that's me being a false fan. I'll just wait for them to replace gen 4 piano with techno sounds in the remake and repeat the process.
It's... okay. But I expected a lot more oomph from a lot of the music in ORAS. I was pleased with the rival battle music, Archie/Maxie's, Kyogre/Groudon's and the Aqua/Magma hideout... but the Gym Leader/E4/Victory Road music felt lacking. I miss XY's guitars.
It just doesn't quite feel right with strings being used to replace the horns and trumpets in many of these themes. They're still good... but don't feel quite on the same level of amazing as the Original
All of the game's music is fabulous, without a doubt, but I think this is one that sounds too soft in comparison to the OG. the brass and strings just aren't sting-y enough.
not enough trumpets, it's not nearly as powerful and incredible as the original because of the extensive use of string instruments instead of grand trumpet.
I think they did wonderful on this theme. So powerful and feels like a serious battle. I cried when I went up again daddy Norman.. T^T
