One of my favourite themes from the whole series. Probably my favourite of the battle music. The first league battle theme and it was simply epic. Perfect instrumentation, lots of voices, rhythms going all over the place, syncopations on point, and really evocative of a titanic battle. Was awesome to hear it for the first time back in 2003. I was a kid when I first played Sapphire. Phoebe was my bane. I just couldn't get past her, and it made me sad. I decided to go exploring and catching Pokemon for the next 6 months, since I just had no strategy, and I could only play on weekends. I had the idea to take the Super Rod to an early route, and fish at a body of water, and found a little Pokemon I had NEVER seen before: Corphish. "Lol what a silly dude. Maybe I'll train him up", and I did. He evolved into the mean looking Crawdaunt. I decided "Oh cool. A water/dark type. Might as well give it a try." That Crawdaunt DESTROYED Phoebe. It was unreal. I was so hyped. Within a week of beating Phoebe, I went all the way to the Champion and defeated Steven Stone, getting my first ever Pokemon game completed. That was a real challenge for the kid me. Here's hoping they add some sort of hard mode to future Pokemon games, because I've not encountered a challenge in normal Pokemon games and runs anymore. Been looking for that sense of hype from a vanilla Pokemon game ever since.

The theme of one of the strongest trainers in the game who happens to have two of the same fully evolved ice types with base 80 in all stats, as well as two second stage Pokemon of the one that is the strongest Pokemon on her team.
The first original elite four theme. And boy does it slap! Personally I think that only gen 5’s elite four could compare to this one. 0:52 - 1:01 best part!
HOT TAKE: They're both equally good. They definitely convey different feelings, the Hoenn E4 theme sounds more glorious while the Unova E4 theme is more tense, but that's what makes me appreciate both. Completely different emotions, both phenomenal songs. They fit their circumstances well. The call-back to the Hoenn E4 theme in the Unova E4 theme is also really sweet.
