In addition to slight vibration on acceleration, there is vibration when breaking hard at highway speeds. It's not the rotors. The cv axle (passenger side) would also make a rumbling sound when banking left above 55mph. It made a little noise on slow sharp turns-no clicking just a rumble. The boots have failed, making a mess. Getting it replaced today. I've learned my lessons about putting off repairs...it's no picnic. Great Video.
Thanks for that explanation. i recently bought a second hand car and had a vibration develop while going down hill with a feathered throttle at 75-80kmph. Eventually, on longer 25-30km trips the vibration would develop at any speed. This was just after a clunk occurred and I was lucky to find a bolt from the RH inner CV sitting between the suspension arm and a chassis member. LUCKY! Looking into replacing the Axles this month!
This was exactly what i was looking for almost a week now. Just needed to confirm y would inner cv axle vibrate and cause noise while driving. Gives me confidence to just replace the tripod bearing rather then all inner cv. Cheper 50 compared to 400. Saved me half a days work inspecting myself and $350 on replacement. Thanks.❤
Me too! Don't have a hybrid vehicle but my 08 Fusion vibrates at de-acceleration and when accelerating from a complete stop. The description he gave at the beginning is exactly what my car does now!
My steering wheel, floor and right seat vibrate between 70 and 90 mph. I changed new tires and new rims and the problem persists.I have balanced them about 8 times, the last time they came out 0 with 0, that is perfect and it still does.😢Hard to find good mechanics. Have a great day, thanks for the video.👍
Did changing the axles fix the issue for you? I'm having the exact same issue as you in my Acura and have replaced bent rims and tires MULTIPLE times to no avail. I'm suspecting it could be axle related in my case.
Your video is describing my issues exactly. I'm gonna have to check my cv axles. Only thing is I've put the vehicle in neutral and it still slowed down like the brakes were being applied as well as a harder brake pedal feel but only when the issue arises.
Same issue and I have changed all brakes along with hardware even changed all 4 calipers. Can’t figure it out. When I accelerate it shakes steering wheel and when u slow down it feels like brakes. It’s intermittent and only does it when it wants to some days. I have changed everything except left cv axle. I pulled the brakes apart so many times and jacked it up to spin the wheels. Weird. I am starting to think transmission torque converter or transmission. No lights on dash. Even put new spark plugs. I am stumped.
I have a Hyundai i40 that has got this replaced 2 times now with only 40k miles on the clock. I just put on a brand new driveshaft again and the wobbling is almost gone but I can still feel it slightly under load sometimes. Seems like there is something else wrong with this car that makes the driveshaft wear way to fast. I talked to the previous owner and he said he had complained about this while the car was under warranty but Hyundai just said it was nothing. Probably the wheels or bad road surface. But now we see it was not ''nothing'' . It's something serious. A drive shaft should last MUCH longer than 20k miles. Wheels and alignment are spot on. Got several very experienced mechanics to check everything and they don't really know what it can be. Motor mounts are ok to. Starting to get quite desperate now 😣
I've been searching what was my issue on my car. The brake aren't warped, no play in the wheel and good alignment. I just found out my issue with your video ! Thanks a lot !
thank you, that was an informative video. keep it up. I have a NAZA RIA @ Kia Carnival in MALAYSIA, the same problem happened. so now at least I know what to do instead of spending money for unnecessary parts replacement. Sometimes when we go to the work shop, the repair man will tell many other problems that we have to pay for many parts replacement instead 1 actual problem, it just for their business income purposes. That is nonsense. Anyway your video is helping. TQ again.
Yeah I think mine is the inner joint. There's a very slight click I hear from time to time. But my problem is vibration when accelerating to about 30-40 mph and much more at 60-70 mph.
@@juliomarenco4411 before you do the cv axels check your tie rods. It still shook after I replaced the axels, motot mounts, rotors, brakes and ball joints. After all that it was my $40 tie rods that were bad and caused the shaking.
@@sa1nt_john.v1 will do thanks, would it vibrate a lot ? From 0-40 it’s normal but after the fast I go the more it vibrates and goes away when I go back to around 30mph
Thank you for creating these videos...I don't know much about cars, (but wish I did!).. when my PT Cruiser started vibrating upon acceleration recently..I took it for service right away. Despite my description of what was concerning me, the garage seemed to only plug the car into the diagnostic machine. They claimed it needed new plugs and wires...$700+.. OK...I guess?...I do know that bad plugs, and cracked wires can affect a car's smooth running. Those parts were original to the car(2006-I checked thru my bills to make sure).. They called me at the end of the day, to say it ran better...but it still juddered. ..they also swapped out the rotors, to see if those were warped...(they were not) After a few days...the car was finally fixed. It was the RF axle/CV joint. Fearing an astronomical bill...to my surprise, they admitted their "misdiagnosing".. and changed the axle and rotors no charge. This PT has been a great car, relatively few problems over the years. I figure to keep it going as long as I can. As a senior, I'm in no position to take on a new car, or car payments, nor do I really want to. I just wish mechanical stuff was taught in schools to women way back when. We weren't allowed to take any shop type courses when I was a youngster. I will be checking out more of your videos in future..as the PT ages, it's going to need more fixing I'm sure...so thank you for sharing all this info!
Makes an annoying popping too when you hit the gas too and stop as well. And good showing how it's supposed to work too, it's supposed to be telescopic at the inside joint for the suspension and it extending on the jounce and rebound at the wheels.
Oddly enough, after several months of vibration when braking at 65mph+, I got this idea it might be the inner CV joint causing it on my CT200h. I’ve experienced the inner CV joint vibration on acceleration and didn’t think it could be the inner CV joint unless it also happened during acceleration. Will know for sure once I replace it with a known good.
I have a 2012 Audi Q5 that I bought about 4 months ago. From the day I drove it off the lot there was a problem with a very subtle vibration not visually noticeable but definitely felt through the entire car steering wheels/seats dashboard at all speeds from 30 km/h and upwards with no limit. The faster you drive the more noticeable it is. I have had this car in and out of about 15 shops/mechanics and I'm at the end of my rope and my patience. Ive had the wheels balanced/Road Forced/alignment multiple times along with other shops trying to diagnose unsuccessfully. I've been told everything from CV Joint to Struts and coils/mounts to control arms/tie rods and wheel bearings or tires feathering/cupping. Some shops have even said U joints or propeller shaft or torque converter. Everyone wants throw parts at the car and not one mechanic do I trust. The vibrations are making me so angry when I drive and I would rather do the repair myself but not sure if your video applies to non hybrid Quattro style german cars. It's more noticeable upon acceleration, but also there during coasting or braking just not as much. I'm desperate for answers
The info in the video is common to most vehicles that use CV style axles, to a degree. Have considered taking it to an Audi dealership to have it properly diagnosed?
I did take it to Audi, actually 2 different Audi's. One said front brakes and rotors so I had them replaced. $900. The other said it needs a road force balancing with proper adapter - donut shaped not spherical - and proper wheel alignment. $600. Its like burning money. I hate dealerships, I don't trust them and this car is well out of warranty. Audi wants another $700 just to diagnose and disassemble parts to inspect with no guarantee of finding or fixing problem. At what point do I put my foot down and say enough? If they actually change the CV joint/s it will mostly likely be in the range of $1500 - $3000. Its not even inflation its absurdity. A regular mechanic will still charge at least $1200.00 as per quote with OE parts if that was even the problem.
Sometimes that’s the road you have to go down. Sorry your going through this. It’s a tough pill to take. What ever you end up doing I hope it goes well with you. Good luck.
I'm gonna get under my own car in the morning as I just got home and it's freezing (northern USA Maine) because since yesterday I've noticed a pretty good vibration going on in the front end. Being I've had the same issue before but it was snow that did it last year it was frozen inside the back of the rim ( aluminum rims) these on my 06 G6 are steel and I see no snow from just looking we'll see in the am what I find. The vibration starts around 40 or so and worse at 60 so I kept it at 50mph on the way home from work. Definitely giving a thumbs up on the video. If you comment back I'll respond. I know I need ball joints, sway links excitedexc exc only had it on the road for about a 10k miles which I knew it needed those parts just wanted to make sure the trans or anything else is broken. This spring I plan to fix it but if it needs a cv I'll have to get that done in the next couple days.
Dude this video saved me! I thought my transmission was going out on my mew 2013 rav 4 and it was the cv causing it around 40 to 45 mph then started popping when I would back up or start off even turnin sometimes it would pop once or twice.
@@BarboursAutoHelp I'm curious if maybe one of you guys can help, my 2010 jeep compass is making a clacking noise upon acceleration and deceleration. It sometimes even does it when shifting from park to drive or park to nuetral. Please note that is does not make the noise when revved in park or nuetral, but does when put into drive and foot on brake and revved just a little. Anything is much appreciated thanks guys!
I just don't understand how some axles can appear fine on the bench but actually be the problem, case in point 2015 RDX, severe shimmy felt in the steering wheel and bad enough to shake your fillings out, took a chance and sourced two cheap Chinese axles without any balancing rubbers on the shaft and visibly had more slop in the tripods than the oem and it fixed the problem. Nothing surprises me anymore. If these cheap knock offs last a year Ill be impressed.
I'm replacing the drivers side CV axel today. The part was 200 bucks and I'll install it myself. The job is worth 400-450 in Australian shops. I'll do it myself.
I'm getting it on both acceleration and deceleration, but only on highway conditions. 1997 Acura CL 3.0 I knew the CV axel was bad due to the clicking when turning, but I thought the vibration was due to the tires. Put on the new tires (old ones were old and dangerous as well), vibration is still there. Axle is next I suppose.
I have an Acura CL 97 too. After replacing tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearing, and tires w/ alignment. I was getting a vibration that would pull the steering wheel to the right...Then disappear. I suspect my front passenger axle is bad, as well.
Cliffjumper Turns out it was a bad caliper. It was locked up and it would cause one brake rotor to warp when overheated and vibrate. It needed tires, axels, and brake system work, but most of all it was the brakes.
My wife's 2011 Rogue feels like the transmission slips two or three times in quick succession when you are coasting and then apply the accelerator to start climbing a slight incline. It does it between two and four times or so and feels like something is slipping and trying to lock-in to pull. I assumed her CVT transmission was going bad since they are known for that, but for some reason this particular year model has been excluded from all the complaints from the years before and after with cvts. I admit she hasn't changed the fluid, but when it was being serviced at the dealership I asked them to do it and since the fluid was kind of dark they recommended I didn't do it or it might make the problem worse. It has about 135,000 miles on it. They said there were no codes stored pertaining to the transmission when I was having them try to diagnose it. The problem really hasn't gotten much worse since we first noticed it about 7 months ago. I know we have a torn CV boot for the passenger side CV axle and it needs to be replaced. if it has begun to wear while the boot has been torn, is there any chance it could cause a symptom like I described?
Without experiencing it my self it's hard to say. From the sound of it that CV axle would just about have to be falling apart to make it do that. Id suggest having a tech diagnose it. You may be pleasantly surprised at what they say.
I have experienced vibration with braking when I had a bad axle and was sure I needed a new rotor, but I knew I needed a new axle more urgently. So I changed the axle first figuring I would get to the rotor another time. But the braking vibration was eliminated also after changing the axle!
I have an 06 Camry, same parts as your 03. Humming sound at a higher speed. It bounces at around 25 mph. Somewhat of a grinding and shaking when braking at a higher speed. No popping though. And the right side of the car seems to shake at higher speeds
Thank you BARBOUR'S AUTO HELP for this valuable info! Now i know why my VW POLO 2005 are vibrating like a crazy when accelerating from 30 to 60 mph. Thank you so much! You saved my money! Thank you so much!!! Now I exactly know what do I need to repair in garage.
i've had the same issue for a while on my subaru tribeca 2012. Changed the rotors thinking it was that, but nope. Gonna order my drivers side cv axle and do a self install.
Hi, I have hamming/vibrating noise coming from passenger side, when I'm sitting in driver seat. It's like something is spinning in uneven way. Zero up to 100 km/h nothing. It starts at 100 km/h, peaks at 110 km/h and disappears at 130 km/h. That sound is definitely connected only to car speed and not to engine rpms. Its louder when pressing gas pedal/accelerating, but it does not disappear completely when not accelerating. Its not engine, because that sound is same when in neutral or any other gear. Its not unbalances tire or wheel. I tried many different wheels. Ball joints are perfectly firm. Sound does not change when braking. There is no play in wheel in any direction. I've already changed both sides bearings and inner transmission side axl homokinetic joint since I found this joint could cause this sound. No rubber boots were damaged. All looking good as new. I used high quality replacement and nothing helped. Axl itself looks perfectly fine. I also tried clicking test when turning full left, full right and accelerating. Nothing, there is no clicking sound. No I dont know, this sound started just like that 4 month ago and does not get better or worse. Still the same. I didnt hit pot hole or anything. I'm driving quality highways. My car is vw golf 6 with only 110 000 km in very good shape. Now I plan to change outer wheel side homokinetic joint, but I dont believe it will fix it. I will be glad for all ideas and suggestions.
Gosh this sounds like what Im going through. Endless fixes and replacements and problem still persists. CV Axel is my next guess but these guesses are getting expensive. What was your final resolution?
I wanted to follow up on this in case anyone else encounters this in the future. After spending thousands trying to fix it with no results, I ended up trading in my honda. really dissapointing as I loved the car. I wonder if there will be a recall in the future to address this. I drove it far more than most people and have to imagine more problems will pop up around 90k miles.
I had vibrations when hitting the brakes, but not the acceleration and my car had bad tie rod ends and poor alignment. My left front side is making a scrapping noise when turning left, stopping, or accelerating (might be the pads on the front end, wheel hub assembly, or brake shield scrapping against the rotor).
I replaced the drivers side cv axle today on my 2008 Toyota yaris. The boot had a big rip and all the grease was gone. this was at the wheel side boot. Naturally the bearing was very worn.It never made the much talked about "clicking" sound when making hard left or right turns in a parking lot. Oddly it only made a thump, thump sound like a tire that had bump in the tread. Hope this helps somebody.
Correction, a bad CV axel can cause vibration in any kind of vehicle when breaking, not just hybrid. A CV axel acts the same no matter what kind of vehicle it's on, when they fail you can experience vibration during acceleration and deceleration.
I have an 07 Lexus ES350. It has 190k. All of the front end parts are original. I am having the entire front end replaced to include the axles, control arms, tie rods, struts front /back, links and all mounts. It shakes violently side to side under torque.
I have one of those and having heck of problem with transmission. Toyota front ends usually last very long time other than CV axles. There is possibility it could be the transmission. U660E transmissions have problem with large input shaft aluminum cast hole tending to widen over time causing shaft wobble and eventual failure of tranny. Very unfortunate for otherwise beautiful ES350 that could last many 100's of k miles
Thank you so much for your channel. I hope this is my problem because I'm having the exact symptoms. Your videos on this have been a blessing to my life. I wish I was your neighbor or your niece Lol. I need you in my life right now Lol
I had the same vibrational problem with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Vibration upon acceleration. I changed the CV axle but it wasn't that. My mecanic fixed the problem in changing the transmission supports that was disaggregated.
@@wilsonemeka1833 It's written 'Isolator' on my invoice but my mecanic called it 'transmission support'. The right term is probably 'transmission Mount Isolator'.
I had my cv axle replaced by a shop and then my car started vibrating when picking up speed from a stop. I went back to the shop to complain about the issue they said they will fix it. And still the vibration has not gone. All of this started happening after I got my CV axle replaced
Interesting. I have a vibration on my 1995 corolla while accelerating. It only happens around 45-50mph and then goes away above 55. I wonder if this is my issue.
Hey Greg, he said inner axle he meant inner joint of the axle. Each wheel has it's own axle, and each axle has an inner and an outer joint covered by one of those black grease boots. I have a vibration in my subaru I'm thinking it might be a cheap chinese cv axle the previous owner put on right before I bought it
1 to 2 mm is a lot in a vehicle part clearance specs, most of the parts are calculated in super tight little spaces like intake valve clearance, only around .18mm to .23mm in my car, which means there is .05mm difference allowed.
Clicking at low speeds. A humming drone at faster speeds. I was worried it might be one of the cv's but couldn't tell left, right, inner, or outer.... until I put the car up and went around and tried the individual joints. The clicking while turning at low speeds became more and more noticable so it was really starting to worry me. The inner right side cv has turned out to be the culprit. Have not noticed vibration on acceleration yet. Really wondering when the problem will become a regretful roadside event. $$$$
My Honda civic has been vibrating when pressing the brakes. Mechanic said it was the rotors. I replaced them and the vibration went away, but came back again. Now while going down the hill my car steering wheel vibrates quite a lot. Yesterday I checked the inner passenger CV axle and it has an up and down play. I suspect this will be the issue with the vibration while pressing the brakes.
I'm beginning to believe this is my problem. I have a 2008 Pontiac G5 with 5-SPEED Manual transmission and I suspect the previous owner abused it seeing how it had a K&N intake installed. I have a steering wheel shake between 50-70 MPH which seems to get worse when accelerating. I've rebuilt a lot of the front end (struts, sway bar linkage, tie-rod ends, and calipers and rotors with fresh pads due to worn out parts I also put new tires on and had an alignment done since the other tires were clearly wore out. I've since continued to have a steering wheel vibration, mechanic seems to only think it can be the tires and wants me to claim a warranty on the tires. Problem is I don't think its the tire as I have rotated them all around with no change in results which makes it hard to believe all 4 brand new tires are bad. I also feel a vibration in the gas pedal which also seems to get worse in acceleration events.
Did you get this sorted? I have an mk6 golf and have had the exact same experience as you - bought all new front suspension parts (struts, control arms, swar bar linkage) but not tie-rods (seems to be no play in them) or calipers + rotors. I also changed corroded rear springs and the rear shocks. The car feels like its bouncing as i drive and gets worse when I accelerate.. all CV boots seem fine.
@@richcheema I replaced my cv axles and it helped al lot no more steering wheel shake just a small vibration which could just be from needing a tune up
Yeah these are hard to diagnose issues, even harder on 4 wheel drive cars. I finally hunted it down by attaching GoPro camera under the car and recording the driveshafts while driving, that I how I found out.
100% the issue I have 4 new tires mags refurbed same issue getting progressively worse 2018 Volvo s90 & the dealership keeps bitching about diagnose time while I am telling them what the issue is. Maintenance plan does not mean quality service can be expected..
Good explanation. Thx. I just had this exact issue on my 06 Odyssey. It felt like vibration was coming from right, front. Changed both CV axles and it turned out to be the driver's side.
i had my passenger CV axle replaced due to a leak in the boot. Then a few thousand miles later i started getting this vibration you talked about. I assumed there was some issue with the part, so my mechanic replaced the axle again. I thought this fixed the issue because the vibration went away. But then after a few thousand miles it started vibrating again. i don't know what to do next? It seems a new axle fixed the issue, but maybe the axle is wearing out very quickly? Any suggestions on what to do next? The vibration only occurs during acceleration between 45-60mph.
Could it also feel like warped rotors when coming to a slow stop? I have an intermittent feeling of what I thought was warped rotors but I would think rotors would happen at every stop.
So question I’m getting a vibration in my gas pedal when I accelerate from a stop or going slow and then turning a corner right or left both I get a vibration and after a minute it sent it settles down and stops not Mechanic can figure out where it’s coming from ! CAN YOU PLEASE HELP???
My beetle shakes a little the entire time it's on. And when accelerating it takes awhile to pick up speed. Today while turning the corner I heard a loud noise that freaked me out. It also feels like it's rolling forward on its own while I'm driving. It jerks a little too.
I have a 2002 Volvo S60 and notice the steering wheel wobbles at a low speed. Sometimes all I have to do is let off the break and the steering wheel will jolted to the left. I notice durning an oil change, grease around the boot and I’m thinking that’s the issue. I’m hoping it’s an easy fix to do.
This seems like the issue I'm having with my 2012 audi a6 prestige. Got my wheels balanced twice in one weeks and still getting this vibration and shuddering when accelerating at 57 - 65 MPH. Is this a bad CV joint? I also hear some noise that appears to be coming from the axle when turning left...Is that the CV Joint?
Hey man I’ve been have a similar issue going on, Everything has been running fine until a couple weeks ago and I was hoping you could point me in the right direction for what my pick up is needing. Recently my pickup started to make this humming/moaning/grinding sound almost like if there is rubbing going on. Which is ONLY when i go into reverse. It’s seems to come from the front end right below me, In drive she is perfect and It's for sure not tire rub. They were thinking it was the rubber on the cv boots getting rubbed. But there is no sign of distress or leaks.
I swapped my cv axles and realized they don’t look the same as oem. And have issue with vibration on load when release gas pedal car is smooth happens over 50mph on expressway
I just changed the CV axle but I still get this vibration at 50km/hr. Also, I feel the vibration more in the middle of the car. Also, note that I have removed the propeller. What could possibly be the cause of the vibration

Its was thought my drive-shaft gearbox bearings or/and flywheel were the problem at first, now the right CV drive-shaft is the suspect. A mth or 2 ago the front wheel bearings were changed but the problem stayed, as the vibration, and around that time my r-front disk started to "cry" when driving, cold and warm getting worse km by km... Atm she is in the workshop again, and today i should hear what the problem really is, and i can only hope its the CV drive-shaft...

My 09 Subaru has been making clunking/squeaking sounds when driving at lower speeds, and when accelerating while going straight or after turning there is a vibration/sound for about 2 seconds every time. Could this be my cv axle or boot? Do struts need to be replaced if the axle is damaged?

Can a bad cv axle cause you to feel a vibration in the gas pedal when going over bumps? I also have the vibration on acceleration as well, but I only feel it in the gas pedal. I've replaced all my engine mounts, and tire rods.

I don't know why but your video is one of only a few touching on this subject, and I think it is exactly pointing me in the right direction! Would you be so kind as to help me with my problem? I am retired and in a real bind here. You seem to be a very helpful sort and I really need some right no My car is a 2007 Corolla with low miles, well maintained, garaged, babied, and was in excellent condition until the accident. The accident was of (relatively) minor impact, - the other driver sliding into the left front wheel from the side. I am concerned about the adequacy of the damage appraisal and repairs. My first question, how can one know definitively that the trans is bad without tearing it apart? The car shows no signs of drive train issues in terms of performance as far as I can tell, but there are vibrations which are like deteriorating/bad wheel bearings. They replaced the left wheel, wheel hub, inner and outer tie rod ends, and left lower control arm assembly. There was no mention of the cv axles or other relevant components. The post-accident left bearing was replaced due to faint bearing noise I detected early on. (wondering about this replacement being bad also)) ?? It was also determined by a third party that the tie rod jam nut was loose, causing wear to the threads. They recommended replacement. I am wondering about the possibility of this situation to create this kind of vibration. Considering how troublesome replaced/repaired trans's can be, I want to make sure that everything else has been ruled out as possible generators of the noise My first inclination was that the transmission was the culprit, not having given any thought to the other possibilities. Duh. I think the likelihood of it going bad from anything but the accident, if it is indeed bad would be a huge stretch. The car was running just fine, the transmission fluid was full, clear, and had been changed about 15,000 miles ago, at about 30,000 miles. The Toyota technician who did the fluid change indicated the pan was clean. I hope you can help. thanks -
As far as what is causing your noise, it's hard to say without hearing it myself and diagnosing it myself. As for any suspicions about the transmission, I'd say your better off getting the opinion of a tech that has had the opportunity to drive your vehicle. I appreciate you reaching out for information. I really think a hands on tech would be the best help.
Thanks man, got this issue on my Sentra, the steering wheel also shakes when I brake, and I I believe it’s getting worse as the cv axel seems to get worse, I changed the brakes rotors and made sure the guide pins on the caliper were cleaned and greased, what do you think? I know you said the vibration is upon acceleration typically in non hybrid cars but it really seems like the steering wheel shake gas been caused by the cv axel going bad, they seem to worsen together, but who knows sometimes with cars, I’m going to change the cv axels anyhow, I’ll let you know if it goes away.
Hey, sorry I didn't get to you until now. I've got a decent video on diagnosing vibrations upon acceleration. It may or may not help you but I believe its got some good info for you. Here is a link: th-cam.com/video/OyXtBqExkec/w-d-xo.html
just changed out my 05 maxima passanger side cv axle was doing the same as explained driving at 45 to 60 steering wheel would vibrate left and right. cv axle passanger side is like 4 foot long
I have a problem with my polo VW. so when I drive more than 80kmph and when I release my foot from the acceleration pedal my steering shakes heavy and feels like it wants to throw me off-road to the left side. I have to take gear to neutral for it to slow down and then speed a bit after that when I take a turn a hear a hard knock then it drives a bit fine. but high speed it gives me that. rods, ball J, and stuff are fairly new.
Thanks for the info man, I just got my 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD go through two Axle at my local Meineke Care Center wondering if it's my transmission going need your opinion?
@@BarboursAutoHelp I was driving on the highway with my family for adults and a baby I went over a bridge quick dip and the axle broke in half at the time I assumed it was a flat tire but visually the axle was in two pieces passenger side.
I went to my Meineke repair center and they said to me that the axle needs to be replaced and so they did on arrival to pick up the car I asked him if there's anything else wrong with the vehicle and they said I'm good to go I took it for a test drive out of the parking lot and the axle fell out again I brought it back to them and they replace that axle with another and the same thing happened I'm trying to figure out if it's the transmission that's spitting the axle out
I've seen this happen a long time ago but not on a Lexus. The vehicle had a bad engine or transmission mount. It was causing the axle to stretch too much. I'd give the mounts a good check. Not saying that's it but it could be. Let me know what you find.
What about vibration at speed - 70MPH plus. Everything else been checked, multiple tires rims, struts, suspension checked. Slight vibration, not huge, can see any play in axels BUT vibration seems to be more on right side of car than left - hmmm Highland Hybrid with funky Toyota setup with the right shaft being longe than the left.
My 07 camry is doing exactly that. I had a really strong feeling one of the axles is causing it since we just put new tires on (it needed them really bad anyway) and it didn't change anything. Not sure which side it is so I just ordered both of them.
Ran across your video after noticing my wife's cars cv axles not rotating in a smooth manor. Rather they have a "out of balance or warped" rotation. Thought this could be my cause of vibration at interstate speeds 60-75.. Goodlettsville and led me here.. will check for vertical play in the morning..ty
If the inner joint is bad is it possible for there to be a vibration at all speeds? Like a constant type of vibration? Also how can you diagnose the play being the inner joint vs the transmission bearings?
It could cause vibration at all speeds. But typically its at a certain speed range under acceleration. Here is a link to another video that may help. It doesn't cover "everything " but it will help you along a bit.. th-cam.com/video/OyXtBqExkec/w-d-xo.html
It's so much more valuable information when you know HOW something can cause vibration. Thank you for taking the time to explain.
No problem
Probably not here. It may be best to have it looked at.
@AusAhmet check motor mounts
@VatanTURK It's motor mount, the upper one. And if drive or reverse engaged and it jerked, the lower mounts as well. Definitely not the axle.
Good luck.
Thanks.❤
Good math, good thinking.
Fajnie. Super. Dobrze sobie poradziłeś.
This has been the most helpful video for me yet. This is the first time I’ve heard someone say that you can have vibration after de-acceleration.
Me too! Don't have a hybrid vehicle but my 08 Fusion vibrates at de-acceleration and when accelerating from a complete stop. The description he gave at the beginning is exactly what my car does now!
@@frank-bmtz did you ever figure out the issue? Mines doing the the same. Along with a clacking noise upon acceleration and deceleration
It can happen on manual transmission cars while engine braking
Seized brake calipers
Same issue and I have changed all brakes along with hardware even changed all 4 calipers. Can’t figure it out. When I accelerate it shakes steering wheel and when u slow down it feels like brakes. It’s intermittent and only does it when it wants to some days. I have changed everything except left cv axle. I pulled the brakes apart so many times and jacked it up to spin the wheels. Weird. I am starting to think transmission torque converter or transmission. No lights on dash. Even put new spark plugs. I am stumped.
Yeah your CV axel would not cause that.
Same bro
What was it ? I’m having the same issue
@@juliomarenco4411 before you do the cv axels check your tie rods. It still shook after I replaced the axels, motot mounts, rotors, brakes and ball joints. After all that it was my $40 tie rods that were bad and caused the shaking.

They called me at the end of the day, to say it ran better...but it still juddered. ..they also swapped out the rotors, to see if those were warped...(they were not)
After a few days...the car was finally fixed.
I hope it works out for ya!
Did it help?
👍tried to tell my dad that was his problem, kept saying trans is going out.
Thank you!
Good video of an example of the issue with the inner CV joint.
Good luck to you. Keep us posted.
Dude this video saved me! I thought my transmission was going out on my mew 2013 rav 4 and it was the cv causing it around 40 to 45 mph then started popping when I would back up or start off even turnin sometimes it would pop once or twice.
Man, I'm so glad to hear that!

Mine Chinese was vibrating right after install, you got lucky, useOEM or remanufactured OEM by Raxles
I'm replacing the drivers side CV axel today. The part was 200 bucks and I'll install it myself. The job is worth 400-450 in Australian shops. I'll do it myself.
I'm getting it on both acceleration and deceleration, but only on highway conditions. 1997 Acura CL 3.0
I knew the CV axel was bad due to the clicking when turning, but I thought the vibration was due to the tires.
Yes! I’m having same issue and it’s being fixed now. Part messed up axle into front differential
My axle is screwed. Someone changed wheel baring and didn’t put it back on correctly
@@GermanShepherdDaphne So you say your Rogue is doing the same thing ours is doing? Acts like it's skipping or the transmission is slipping?
I have experienced vibration with braking when I had a bad axle and was sure I needed a new rotor, but I knew I needed a new axle more urgently. So I changed the axle first figuring I would get to the rotor another time. But the braking vibration was eliminated also after changing the axle!

i've had the same issue for a while on my subaru tribeca 2012. Changed the rotors thinking it was that, but nope. Gonna order my drivers side cv axle and do a self install.
Hi thanks for the video. Anything else that would cause a shimmy when accelerating?
Yes, I have a link to a video down in the description that goes over this a bit. Check it out.

Thank you for the information. I found my issues ... I had no clicking just vibration, and my axle had movement
Thanks, my vw has been doing this and i had a feeling it was the axle but wasnt sure. Now i know what i need to check.
Thks for the educative video. my question is , apart from the vibration does a bad cv axle make a grinding noise ?
I've not heard a grinding noise cause by a half shaft yet.
Thank you very much I didn't know inner CV can Course vibration your demonstration was so good 👌👌👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Good video. This helped me with the vibration on a buddy’s truck.

Glad you got it figured out.
I have exactly the same problem on my 2010 TSX. At exactly 60mph to 65mph. Was it your inner cv joints?
Hey Greg, he said inner axle he meant inner joint of the axle. Each wheel has it's own axle, and each axle has an inner and an outer joint covered by one of those black grease boots. I have a vibration in my subaru I'm thinking it might be a cheap chinese cv axle the previous owner put on right before I bought it
On the left side of my car I getting a vibration from the axel
Greg Naidoo sorry for the late reply, yes the inner cv joint had excessive play and I could physically see the wear into joint when I took it apart.
1 to 2 mm is a lot in a vehicle part clearance specs, most of the parts are calculated in super tight little spaces like intake valve clearance, only around .18mm to .23mm in my car, which means there is .05mm difference allowed.
Ok, so how does that relate to the video? I'm sure you have a good point, I'm just slow at connecting the dots. What are saying?

Who installed them?
i had my passenger CV axle replaced due to a leak in the boot.
The boot seems to be ok. So what would cause the grease to dry up like that?
Could it also feel like warped rotors when coming to a slow stop? I have an intermittent feeling of what I thought was warped rotors but I would think rotors would happen at every stop.
I should have found you earlier, should I ge a new tri pod only ?

Having simulair problem with my VW Golf 1.6 TDI 2011 DSG-7 Variant, since i got her (1,5 yr ago) could not get a balance on my front wheels, not even with new wheels and tires, at +/- 70-80 kmh and 130-140kmh.
Let us know when you find out.
@@BarboursAutoHelp It was the passengers side CV joint, totally worn , actually very like the one on this video.
The gearbox is ok, wheel bearings to, so were changing both CV joints and both front brake disks, as addition have to change 2 worn engine mounts...
The noise (bearing grinding sound) was only heard when going into a left turn, thats why at first the wheel bearings were suspect...but after replacing those, the noise stayed.
Dont have him back yet, parts being replaced as i write this.
Will let you guys know if this solved the grinding bearing noise in my front train, when i get him back and make a probe-drive.
@@satnikray you never told anyone
My 09 Subaru has been making clunking/squeaking sounds when driving at lower speeds, and when accelerating while going straight or after turning there is a vibration/sound for about 2 seconds every time. Could this be my cv axle or boot? Do struts need to be replaced if the axle is damaged?
I have the same problem 2013 AWD Toyota sienna vibration when exlelerating. she shop change the right rear axle and it's doing the same thing so said it could be the iner bearing that the axcle goes into the diffencial .the put the van on the lift and exelarate and said the lift axcle was a bit wabbling so the change in but it didn't get any better.what do you suggest
I have a 2007 camryLe when I putt into drive or reverse it has rough idle, in neutral it runs smooth. I have checked all possible parts related to engine vibration, Could this be axsle related due to problems only apply in gear? thks 4 taking my question
Can a bad cv axle cause you to feel a vibration in the gas pedal when going over bumps? I also have the vibration on acceleration as well, but I only feel it in the gas pedal.
I've replaced all my engine mounts, and tire rods.
I suppose it's possible. A lot of things could cause that by the way.
Possible that it could squeek when you hit bumps as well? I have. 2009 honda civic ex coupe
Great info thank you for the knowledge.
What causes frontend vibration at highway speeds only while coasting or very light throttle with out touching the breaks. There is a clunking also felt in steering wheel when light rockinh it right and left while sitting still . 2019 volkswagen atlas all wheel drive . 3.6 l. ( engine is in sideways ) outer tierods appear tight aswell as balljoints ..
Excellent explanation.
Thanks
I don't know why but your video is one of only a few touching on this subject, and I think it is exactly pointing me in the right direction! Would you be so kind as to help me with my problem? I am retired and in a real bind here.
You seem to be a very helpful sort and I really need some right no
My car is a 2007 Corolla with low miles, well maintained, garaged, babied, and was in excellent condition until the accident.
Considering how troublesome replaced/repaired trans's can be, I want to make sure that everything else has been ruled out as possible generators of the noise
My first inclination was that the transmission was the culprit, not having given any thought to the other possibilities.
Very interesting, Thanks for sharing
Should you replace both if only one is bad?
Mine was vibrating, I changed all engen mounts and still vibrating till inner cv drive fail to operate
I think im having the same issue with my sentra!
So did you figure this out? My 07 Camry is having vibrations when deceleration..any data points would be appreciated
just changed out my 05 maxima passanger side cv axle was doing the same as explained driving at 45 to 60 steering wheel would vibrate left and right. cv axle passanger side is like 4 foot long
Thats a big one.
I have a problem with my polo VW. so when I drive more than 80kmph and when I release my foot from the acceleration pedal my steering shakes heavy and feels like it wants to throw me off-road to the left side. I have to take gear to neutral for it to slow down and then speed a bit after that when I take a turn a hear a hard knock then it drives a bit fine. but high speed it gives me that. rods, ball J, and stuff are fairly new.
i have a 2018 camry se.. when im driving at high speeds and start guiding left my can starts vibrating. what could it be? its starting to get worst!
Is this the cause for the axle to come out of the inner joint?
Thanks for the info man, I just got my 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD go through two Axle at my local Meineke Care Center wondering if it's my transmission going need your opinion?
What was wrong with the axles?
@@watchmegetoutoftheshelter7690 how much you paid for the repair
What about vibration at speed - 70MPH plus. Everything else been checked, multiple tires rims, struts, suspension checked. Slight vibration, not huge, can see any play in axels BUT vibration seems to be more on right side of car than left - hmmm Highland Hybrid with funky Toyota setup with the right shaft being longe than the left.
Not sure.
Very good info. Great work.
Glad it was helpful!
My 07 camry is doing exactly that. I had a really strong feeling one of the axles is causing it since we just put new tires on (it needed them really bad anyway) and it didn't change anything. Not sure which side it is so I just ordered both of them.
Let us know how it goes.
