    I just bought a US N64 with Mario Party 2, 3, Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, Perfect Dark and 6 US SNES games (Super Mario All Stars, Yoshi's Island, Zelda Link to the past, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, Vegas Stakes), an Expansion Pak, 3 very good N64 controllers and two US Snes controllers for 98 Euros, let's see how many of these games are on the list.
    List starts: "Pokemon Stadium 2 is 76 dollars now loose"
    Ok. Still need a US SNES and some way of powering it on a European AC/DC power network (US SNES only takes in DC and has a very weird connector).

      For the ps2 basically everything. I think I sold blood will tell for $120 or something and now it’s like $300. Sold my copy of samurai western at the same time; price has increased. Even a common game like simpsons hit and run currently sells for $40.
      I made a post on Reddit asking why the increase. I honestly think it’s inflation along with all the stimulus checks. Some of my ps2 games sell within the same day. My sealed curse of darkness sold within an hour for $190

    • @MyRegardsToTheDodo
      @MyRegardsToTheDodo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jngx80 I think during corvid a lot of people started collecting games. Mainly because some more famous youtube influencers started it. That's one of the reasons why fakes, repros and reseals have become such a problem (and those incompetents at VGA got a decent reputation), these new collectors know nothing about anything, they just buy. Some did it as an investment, because "prices went up, so the games must be valuable and be worth a lot in a few years". There's a PS1 version of the rejected draft of Resident Evil 2 (they call it Resident Evil 1.5, it was finished by the creators to some extent and then scrapped), it's playable to some extent (around 60% or something like that) and some chinese sellers sell a sealed version of it that has cover art and a decently printed disk, you can get it for around 10-15 USD shipped (or download the .iso for free and make your own disk). Of course you need a modified console to play it. And it isn't anything official, so for me as a collector it's basically worthless. Ebay used to be flooded by this game, selling somewhere between 40 and 100 USD (sometimes even more). The seller didn't actually lie, just exagerate a lot, claiming it was some long-lost prototype game and the buyer thought he or she had bought something very special.
      I personally don't understand why Pokemon games are as expensive as they are, there are so many of these games in circulation that it just doesn't make any sense. And of course half of the sealed Pokemon DS games you get today are fakes anyways.

    As much as I love watching these types of videos, the sad irony is that videos like this and the ones other reviewers make are one of the main reasons the market is so messed up and prices stay high or keep going up. More casual collectors and even non-video game players/collectors are becoming game hunters now due to seeing these types of videos. More people these days are collecting to price gouge and resell at ridiculous prices to make a quick buck because now they know which games are "rare." When I was collecting in 2006 I was able to pick up a legit copy of Little Samson for the NES for $120 with instructions, and now the cheapest price on the bay is currently $2600 for just the cart. It was still considered a rare game back in 2006, but prices were at least reasonable. It was around this time when the AVGN had come out and over the following years, as more and more reviewers came onto the scene, prices continued to climb. In 2012 you could get a complete copy of Rule of Rose for like $60-$80. Average price now is like $250 and it's been that way for a few years, but go look at how many copies are on the bay, it's not even rare or even that great of a game, but people believe it is because that's what they were told by reviewers. I'm not saying game reviewers are the sole reason for the increase in game prices over the years (nostalgia and demand are factors as well), but it is definitely one of the main reasons. Without all the rarity hype, game prices would be waaaaay lower. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

    I think the GameCube is the clear choice for the next version of this video.
    I think something cooler you could do tho is do a similar video on the PS3 / ps Vita/ Wii/ Wii U / and Xbox 360 (if you have to get a Xbox in there 😂)
    The idea behind the video would be to catch these BEFORE. The huge hike in price coming on these consoles/ games. It's already started and if you look at something like a PS3 CONSOLE ONLY they are selling for up to 150$ (no hook ups, controller, ANYTHING). This is crazy compared to older, more nostalgic consoles. The cycle is continuing and the kids that grew up with the PS3 and feeling about it like I feel about the SNES and NES. It's kinda crazy.
    Sorry for rambling but yea, do the video tracking the uptick in these "newer" consoles and games. As many as were made and how new they are and how not quite old enough to be cool, not quite new enough to have the best everything it's crazy to me how much the games are/ and are continuing to rise.
    I think PS2 has a place in the *retro" catalog as I see it. But even then the cost of some of those grail games are outrageous.
    Haha did it again. Seriously tho think on the idea. I know it's been done before, but if you do it in a vid like this and pick your choice for most to raise in the next 3 / 6 / or 9 months whatever you could make a small mini series that could be really fun to keep up with. People love to hear about what the stuff they own is worth and BOLO type videos draw in the reseller crowd. Either way love the stuff. Keep it up Rick

    You should do a vid on Gameboy Advance game prices, they have shot up like crazy! For example last Christmas pokemon emerald loose cart was going for $60, but as of today it's average price it sells for is $125 and can even sell for up to $200 (still loose cart) depending on the condition. And other loose cart gba games are selling for way more. For example pocky and rocky with Becky or Castlevania Aria of Sorrow. It's pretty crazy.

      It’s not gonna end, If anything it’ll subside, for instance you might be able to get earthworm Jim 3D in the future for $30-40ish but it’ll never be a $10 game again. The time to get into collecting was from 2004-2013ish. Those were the glory days of finding nes, snes, 64 games, ps1 etc. for $2-5. I’ve found Mega man 2-5 at a flea market for $5 a pop for example, Super Metroid CIB for $12, Gargoyles Crest nes for $5. You don’t find these deals anymore only on the rare occasion if at all!

      Unlike NES and SNES, N64 is not easy to emulate, so the best way to play it is still buying the original stuff. That's why there is a high demand. Plus, people who grew up with N64 have entered their thirties, and that's the best time for childhood nostalgia and to spend money on that, especially if you have no children.
