I would venture a guess that somewhere in the neighborhood of 90% of us (who appreciate espresso machines) hold these tactile aspects in the same regard (e.g., the way the wood, metal, welds, levers look and especially feel). If your going to worship a piece of metal… at a minimum it should be a very pleasing piece of metal.
Completely agree on the gauge. Although I have almost forgotten about it after more than a year of use. At least it works well and seems reliable .. unlike the cheap pressed metal gauges on certain very high end bike pumps.
1- Printed labels are too close to the top of the front panel. 2- Don't like whitish handles 3- Handles don't look wood 4- Rocket's handles look nicer (too me at least) 5- Would be nice to connect to a cell phone for setting up instead of cumbersome LCC 6- Not quite convinced of the shape of LCC 7- Due to unmatching colours I like the SS (Stainless Steel) panel better. Coloured panels make it look like a toy too me. 8- May be not pertinent here but Love the look of the Nau Classica with the Hanhart stoptimer. 9- Would love to see Circle Polished SS panels as a variant of the shiny SS. Even the brushed SS of the MaraX looks better. In spite of the above, an excellent machine.
Thanks Eskerinola. We'll disagree about the phone connection :) I don't want that! but I love the Nau Classica - that is classy. You have to see the finish on the coloured versions - it's very good, and suits my contemporary kitchen design, but I understand some prefer SS. Brushed steel is also good - I've been put off regular SS since the cleaning nightmare of the rocket.
Confirmed that the water tank is not used when plumbed in - well it is on the v2. I think the lid on the tank is tighter than mine which I see as a good thing as my lid feels too loose and has a slight rattle when in use. I really like the colour, makes it look far more modern than the chrome one. There are a number of Etsy shops that offer alternative wood parts I believe. I had some beautiful pieces that a friend is going to make as replacements for me, if/when he has some free time.
yeah, it got stuck again after I made this video. I think it;s a good idea, but it needs a bit of tweaking Overall, there were no rattles from it, which was impressive.
This is just incredible stuff! I still can't believe you haven't even hit 1000 subscribers yet! I laughed so hard at your Italian accent! What a gorgeous machine that is. I think it would drive me a bit crazy though, with all of the coffee splashes to wipe off all the time. My MaraX is a shiny chrome box and it actually hides the mess fairly well. As for the "camelbak" water tank: yes, I believe you can remove it completely if you plumb in the machine. You can also plumb in the drip tray so it runs straight down the drain. I suppose you'd still need to wash it, however, unless you don't mind all the coffee residue gunking up the works. I'm really excited to hear what you have to say about actually making coffee with it and using the paddle to try out some different profiles! I'm still struggling to make a decent cup of coffee (straight espresso; I can manage some delicious milk drinks) with just the grind size to play with.
Thanks Chong Li, we're not pushing out videos each week, so YT doesn't like that. We're growing steadily though, and tbh I'd prefer a smaller audience of committed coffee nuts, rather than a bigger audience that attracts trolls.
I like some things about the rocket more, and there's new machines out there all the time. The E61 keeps the costs down, and the flow control is something that I wouldn't want to live without. Check out reviews of new machines by searching host Milano 2023 and see if there's anything that takes your fancy. I can say that several people had issues with their water tank on the rocket, including me. The pump on my LELIT has got a bit noisy recently, but it's worked faultlessly for almost a year, and we totally abused this thing. If you don't mind it's looks, the Sage/Breville Dual Boiler is a good machine too, and the prices are so good, especially if you can find a quality used version.
@@bartalks1810 Id never buy a Sage again. It leaked and wrecked the inside in 9 months. Took 3 months to get Sage to listen and do something. I demanded a refund and sent it back. Its chinese made junk and not designed to last beyond warranty. Makes OK coffee if you are lucky. No temp stability, no pressure stability. Grider and dosing sucks. I have bought a Linea Micra and Libra Grinder. Got amazing deal from La Marzocco direct on Cyber monday 15% off RRP. Machine is made from real stainless steel not chromed brass. Makes consistently good drinks although i suck at dialing in as im still learning. I need a simple set up for my gf who just wants easy coffee and this is likely a good option, plus i think will retain good value longer term.
It makes great espresso John. The question I want to answer when I make that video is how well it does that consistently, if that's what you want, or how it lets you be creative.
I can't make a recommendation as that rarely works out well. But I can point you to where you can buy one. I've heard good and bad things about most resellers here in the UK. But probably less bad things from Bella Barista bellabarista.co.uk/collections/dual-boiler?filter.p.vendor=Lelit&filter.v.price.gte=&filter.v.price.lte=&sort_by=manual Make sure you get the V3
@@bartalks1810 Thanks for the link. I actually called them last week and spoke to a very helpful person. I was told they may not stock the new (Matt) colours. Apparently Lelit will only ship them large orders which they are not confident will all sell. The such continues 😎
Sorry for the late reply. LELIT came back quickly, I was a bit delayed for the last couple weeks. They pointed me to this site for their distributors: lelit.com/lelit-worldwide/# In the UK there are three distributors for coffee. It's listed under Great Britain.
me too. Is it always about number of subscribers though? I'm not complaining. I did offer to pay them and they refused, but I owe them some more videos to be fair. I've been collecting material, and just yesterday plumbed it in, so I'll put up another video soon.
@@bartalks1810 I wouldn’t complain either :-) I have no idea how companies choose. My thinking is the more subscribers-> the more people trust you and your videos-> the higher potential for them to address & sell to a larger audience. Or maybe they don’t want to go for the real big channels which sometimes don’t take any products free of charge and are rather sponsored by Patreons etc. so smaller channels are more open for free of charge items. Who knows?!
Some people seem to get lucky with the colour of their portafilter handles, i wasn't one of them, it's significantly darker than the rest of the wood, kind of annoying considering what i paid for it =/
awesome review. Thanks for doing this.

Out of all the brands doing a dual boiler £2k range which brand would you go for? I’m looking at rocket at the moment. But haven’t looked at others.

Yeah I'm not sure how these vids don't have thousands of views; they're really well detailed.
Thank you
thanks Nathan, the cheque is in the mail.

Out of the content are you wearing a Tudor gmt watch ? Looks very nice 😊
well spotted - yeah it's my favourite watch right now. I love the 70's and so I got the rootbeer in a totally kitsch steel and gold. and I Love it :)
I bet you checked the bezel alignment on your Tudor.😂 i love mine but def sent a couple back bc the bezel was slightly off.

The more I look at this, the more I get baffled by Sanremo Cube's pricing
Agreed. It's a shame, because it's a cute design, but hard to justify that price for the features.
As a previous owner, I believe you can remove the “camelback” when plumbed in.
Thanks Thomas, this is going to save quite a lot of countertop space for me
What do you guys think Max said as soon as he entered the room?
Actually Max, you said - "so now I can have Your Rocket?"
3k welds suck. Great
