  • I visited this museum in September of 2023 while on a trip to Kansas City. It was a great complement to my June 2022 stay in the TWA Hotel at JFK Airport, NYC, which is part of the old TWA terminal and like a mini museum in itself. It was interesting to learn more about the history of the airline, which I never flew on myself (at this museum, you have a tour guide who walks you through the museum, giving you an oral tour, and of whom you can ask questions). Sad to find out that Trans World Airlines, which was founded in 1930 in New York, NY, developed financial difficulties and ended up being acquired by American Airlines in 2001...but very cool that its history is preserved with this museum, as well as at the restored TWA Terminal (part of the hotel) at JFK.

There are only 3 remaining major airlines in the USA now. American, Delta, and United Airlines. American Airlines bought out TWA, Delta bought out Northwest Orient, and Eastern went bankrupt, and closed up shop in 1991. Hopefully those who worked for Northwest, TWA, and Eastern were able to find other jobs.

I know...it's a little crazy how many airlines disappeared! 😦 As a child and young adult, I flew on an airline called "Western...." It was also bought by Delta.
