@@user-ij7mp2nv2z Alaska Airlines is the only airline I know of that is still flying a 737-900NG without winglets! I keep wondering when they're going to retire it! 🤣

@@user-ij7mp2nv2z There was one other without winglets that I flew on back in 2020, N303AS; airfleets.net says it's still active. So two that I know of for sure.

@allee2445 Those original 900s have wings that for some reason can't have winglets added...something about their structure/design is different than later 737s...I don't know the exact details....

@michaelgranger7113 Sorry...that was the best I could do with TH-cam's music library. I don't like to have merely silence in my videos. But I wish TH-cam had a better selection of short duration songs/music clips. 🫤

@@shutterbugshirlstravels I know! It used to be saved for 30 days so I find myself rushing after a flight to save the audio.

It’s 7 days now. Used to be 30. I don’t save audio on my end it’s all on the LiveATC server side. Nice video!

@@shutterbugshirlstravels Perhaps, as a passenger aboard the flight, you could obtain a transcript via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by contacting the FAA. If you do, please post it.

@jkryanspark Hmm...interesting. There's a website where you can listen to ATC, either live, or recordings. I forgot about it, though, until recently. Then I found out that recordings are saved for only 7 days, so I was TOO late! 🫤

Wrong. The pilot made a decision; do I land or do I go around. He decided to go around so he "went around" rather than land at the decision point. Sorry, that's what happened. Been there done that.

@FiveMissiles Yeah, that's a "famous" one. 😬 But if you do a search on SFO go arounds, quite a few results come up! I found an article about another go around performed by the same airline I was flying, Alaska, in 2023!

Good explanation. Non aviation geeks might not know. For surther geek info, the go around altitude and course is already set in the FMC (flight management computer), along with thurst, so they push the button on the control yoke to instantly do it.

@@kadinzaofelune precisely! If the TO/GA button is pushed on the throttle controls, the FMC will then set the autopilot up for the Missed Approach fixes, which are automatically entered when an appropriate STAR/RNAV approach is selected when planning the flight. These fixes will guide the aircraft away from the airport and set the altitude as defined in the charts, and vectors will be coordinated with local ATC.

@@kadinzaofelune Yeah but at big airports almost nobody uses the missed approaches, we have set headings and altitudes per ARTCC SOP that basically align with vector departures to minimise flow disruptions.

You know...I was going to say it was TOGA...but, when you hear the throttle kick in...I think TOGO is just fine, too! :)

@@llh6910 It crosses the harbor east to west and vice versa with several different stops. I got on near the Hyatt Regency Hotel on the east side and got off at Rowes Wharf on the west side.

I know...it's a little crazy how many airlines disappeared! 😦 As a child and young adult, I flew on an airline called "Western...." It was also bought by Delta.

It was the first time a window shade slipped down by itself while I was trying to take a video of a takeoff! 🤔🤣

Yep...one complete airplane and one MD-80 cockpit. But I still enjoyed the museum. 🙂
