Small boat fishing UK - Sometimes it doesn't go to plan

- planned on heading out to try for some bream for the table. I knew the weather wasn't perfect but sometimes I feel like I'm waiting for the perfect weather that might never come. After seeing the weather had changed again I thought I would still go out and head towards the spot I planned to fish. I got halfway there and, even though it doesn't look that bad on the camera you can hear the boat getting kicked all over the place. Me being on my own I thought it wasn't safe and turned back round and tried spinning for an early river bass on the way back to the mooring. That didn't last long so I headed back to the mooring with the single bad of squid I had for the bream to try sneak a bass out. After getting back to the mooring and realising that I was only in 4ft of water... which doesn't mean there isn't a chance of a bass, it didnt feel me with much confidence. After about 2 hours I called it a day and went home to sort my carp fishing gear out. I ended up doing the night on my club lake and guess what.... BLANKED there too... like I say... sometimes it just doesn't go to plan... hope you enjoyed the video, even though no fish was caught. We can only try our best... back out next week and I WILL.... catch some bream.
It's wind over tide that's the worst in the Solent, especially from Cowes to Hurst.
Many times I have been through there when it's really rough but it's flat in Christchurch Bay and everywhere else. Same wind speeds too
Nice to see common sense and safety being put first. It will just mean the bream catch is even more special when it comes.
I totally agree. It doesn’t seem too bad on camera but It was pretty awful. I wasn’t comfortable on my own. They will always been there another day I say.
Yes hard to port
I know from my own experience the GoPro's flatten everthing out but that still looked proper lumpy. Good call heading back in. Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I appreciate it. Sometimes it’s a hard choice heading back in after all the planning etc but better to be safe, specially on my own. Thanks for the comment 😊 🎣
@@thewightangler Is that a Wilson Flyer you have there?
@@anotherangleUK it is indeed, 17ft Wilson. Perfect platform at anchor but not
So good heading inside a sea I must say 😅
😊 good little video that dropped ya a sub from little jersey 😊
Thanks mate, I’ve subscribed to you. Channel looks decent.. I’ll go check it out 🎣
@@thewightangler keep up your content to 👊👊
Good decision!
Boat fishing! Don’t you just love it??😂
Sometimes it’s just not your day 😂 had to give it a go I suppose 😅
Small cathedral hulled boats are not best suited to chops with wind on the nose -they slam too much. Wise move to head back in. I am sure you know what you are doing, but wearing a life jacket is always a good idea, especially if you are solo. Awkward as they are when moving around the deck fishing a, a kill switch on a longer lanyard also worth using. Water still bit too cold in the channel. Good luck on next trip out.
Yeah the Wilson flyers are well known for slapping in a swell sea aren’t they. I’ve been out in worse but not by choice, I got caught in the thick of it on the way back from being off shore. For the life jacket… it makes it worse than I’ve got 2 in the cabin but completely forgot to put it on I was concentrating on getting back nice and slowly. Thanks for the comment mate 😊🎣
