      I believe the issues with the broken chargers are because they can't get parts due to supply chain and manufacturing issues. I'm sure they would love to get these things up and running. The only way they can make money with these expensive pieces of equipment is to make sure they're working.

    The Mercedes naming convention is actually a little messed up for EVs. They've got the EQA, EQB and EQC that are based on the SUV versions (GLA, GLB, GLC), then they've got the EQS and EQE that are equivalents of the S Class and E Class. So, if they do an EV equivalent of a normal A Class or C Class, they'll have to change the naming scheme because EQA and EQC are already taken.

      glad you are enjoying your EQS. I also have a EQS on order, i can't wait. Yes, I think the tech can be overwhelming and no I do not LOVE the exterior but i don't think it's ugly. However, I know that I will enjoy the ride and have fun playing with the technology. I did consider Tesla Model S Plaid, Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air. As for Tesla, no doubt they have superior SW and charging networks, but i hate the yoke steering and for the price, I want a car that has better build quality and more luxurious interior/features. As for Lucid Air, it looks like a great design but I am not willing to bet on a brand new company with this kind of money who also does not have a service center where i live. Porsche Taycan is a great car, but it is just too small and too sporty for me. So, EQS is not perfect but it offers many that Tesla and other can't. I look forward to getting my EQS.

Zero layer AI is probably the most underrated feature because it reduces your need to wade through menus and screens to find the features you most use on a regular basis. A safety feature in my view compared to other UX. Plus the fact that it adapts to each driver. Also little things like using cameras inside the car to detect who is reaching for the screen so it can make it easier to reach functions. It’s bring a certain luxury aka convenience that you don’t see in other screens. Given everyone is going the no buttons / only screens way these distinctions need to be highlighted more.

Not sure if you actually know much about vehicles other than technology. I do admit the interior lighting is quite gorgeous, but thats my only favorite feature. • @TheStraightPipes
      @TheStraightPipes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're always short, extremely rigid especially in the winter, and if you don't park on or over the curb they're almost impossible to twist and insert (with one hand). With 2 hands, they're definitely still heavy so yes if someone had limited mobility they are a disaster

    • @UnnDunn
      @UnnDunn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The CCS Combo plugs that most non-Tesla EVs (except Nissan Leaf) use for DC Fast Charging are quite heavy, bulky and difficult to use with one hand. But that’s the only plug that has this problem.
      Tesla vehicles in North America use a proprietary plug which is super light and easy to handle.
      All non-Tesla EVs use a J1772 plug for Level 1 and 2 charging, and Nissan Leaf uses a CHAdeMO plug for DC fast charging. Both of those are light and easy to handle as well.
      If you rely exclusively on DC fast chargers, this could be an issue, but chances are you will be doing most of your charging at home using a J1772 plug, and that should be no problem (it’s a lot easier than handling a gasoline pump nozzle, for example).

    great build quality, long battery range with brick and mortar
    dealerships in every town... It's a dream to drive and turns on a

      I actually think the end goal for Tesla is licensing their infrastructure, and not building cars that look like they were put together as a kit. Once mainstream manufacturers with decades and decades of coach building expertise start putting out more EVs Tesla will make the move. Designing, manufacturing and installing electric motors into a vehicle body isn't exactly rocket surgery, but quality manufacturing of the body and interior assembly apparently is ;-) The EV business will diverge (similar to cell phone model) where Apple sticks with the hardware and leaves the towers and coverage to service providers.
