AMG’s first all-electric super sedan impressed us in more ways than one! It may not be quicker than a Model S, but the interior is miles ahead and we expect it to get similar real world range. Hoping we can get our hands on it to do a long term test early next year! Stay tuned!
I have a 2009 SL550 with less than 17.5k miles on it. It is 01-14-2022 as I type this. I bet my naturally aspirated fossil fuel burning SL550 lasts longer than the lithium ion batteries on this car in the video or any lithium ion battery powered car....no thanks on hybrid powered or fully electric vehicles.
I watch your videos just for fun. I especially love your 0-60 tests… watching your expressions before during and after the tests, we can conclude wether or not you are impressed
@@dalecackowski9259 I don’t really know what it looks like, but the looks alone doesn’t impress me. I’m all in for new ideas, but tech only goes so far. I can’t imagine walking away from this and stare into its looks.
I drove one a few weeks ago. Very smooth ride. Interior quality is the best I've ever experienced (I drive an E43 and believe it has a great interior but EQS is on another level). The exterior is too understated outside the front grill, though. Styling needs more attention.
It’s a Benz though. Incredibly unreliable and one of the fastest depreciating vehicles...I want to see German manufacturers stop building cars to last for 4-5 years.
Love almost everything about it except the exterior styling. Just doesn’t look good to me at all. Don’t like the grille, don’t like the shape of the car, don’t like the rear end. Interior is pretty astonishing though, leaps and bounds ahead of electric and gas luxury competition.
As a person who likes planes, make it an option to sound like a jet engine in the car... I want to feel like I am flying an aircraft. That would make me warm up a lot more to electric cars lol
LOVE!!! Absolutely love your reviews but when do you get a different camera setup? I feel like someone to film with you would offer a more realistic view of the vehicles...
I like this car and I understand that its shape serves a purpose. Can't help but think that this looks weird though. The spaceship sound is pretty cool!
Another great review, Sofyan! What a great electric luxury sedan. This is what EVs have been missing and Mercedes-Benz has filled all of the gaps Tesla missed in terms of creature features, luxury and comfort. I’ll be putting this on my top pick lost of EVs for the near future to purchase.
@@rks-bh6tb - I wouldn't even consider a Tesla over this. The Model S is long in the tooth and the build quality is substandard in many cases. Mercedes has been building cars for 95 years, they have it figured out. Tesla is still in the fetal stage and it shows. Yeah, they have good motors, batteries and a charging infrastructure second to none. That's about it.
@@rks-bh6tb tesla has the worst paint finished... also their quality control is dumb as fck There's teslas being delivered with half an inch of panel gaps and only blond tesla quality controls can't see that
I kinda see the facelift 10th gen Civic front end in the grill/headlights of this car. Especially those facelift civics with the blacked out and blacked headlight housings
I'm not a fan of the smaller Mercedes emblem on the "hood". There's the large one in front and having a smaller one on the bottom part of the hood seems redundant.
You are correct the GPS will not be as good in a car with heat reflective glass. Mercedes provides 2 windows in the windshield (they are almost impossible to see), for "radio" devices.
Random comment: for a high end Mercedes, with stitched trim everywhere, it’s curiously cheap that the EQS has simply a moulded plastic steering wheel cover. The wheel design is the same as the regular S-Class which does have a leather stitched cover. And why no rear side window shades? 🤔
Beautiful...for now. You think the regular S Class has bad depreciation? Just wait a couple of years when battery tech is upgraded. This will be pretty much worthless. Why? Because the people who buy cars like this want the best and nothing less. No one will want to wait 30 minutes to charge their luxo barge when the new one will do it in 5 minutes. But then again, the people who buy these things don't care about depreciation. :)
Lets see you design a car with the world's best coefficient of drag, and get back to us with your revolutionary styling. EVs need long range, which means they need to be slippery when going down the road. Bricks aren't slippery.
This is nice and all, but after seeing the Lucid Air and Taycan GT and given that a Mach E GT is about this fast, it just doesn't seem to be so special outside of the Hyperscreen. And nope, the shape hasnt grown on me...at all. It also seems noisy: @12:02, the motorcycle passing by was heard inside of the cabin. My 2017 S63 seems far better isolated.
Can you imagine what this is going to cost to fix in 10 years after sitting in the hot Arizona sun and it fails. In 15 years you won't be able to even buy the parts to fix it and the car will be trash. I prefer analogue instruments and tactile feeling mechanical switch gear, if for no other reason than longevity and easy repairs.
It doesn't charge as fast as the Taycan or Audi because it has a much larger battery, thus, it requires more "electrons" to go from 10 to 80%. This of course is rewarded by much longer range per percentage of charge. Get it right guys!!!!!
You missed the most important difference between the 580 and this car!!!!! At least in Europe you can get huge ceramic brakes, an essential addition to a car this fat if you are going to drive it hard (ask Plaid owners about that). Otherwise, its really a warmed up 580 with launch control and an overboost mode. You can even get the same interior on the 580 (I did)! My guess just the AMG badge added 10k to the price!
I get why these cars are becoming popular but with an electric AMG or M vehicle, your losing the best part of these cars and that is the engine note and soundtrack. It just looks boring in the rear without those beauty quad exhaust tips
The interior is RIDICULOUSLY 🔥 it’s odd the roof doesn’t open kinda strange but it’s not a big deal, the exterior though is just not that good looking.
Model S is old, perhaps Tesla wants to build it for a total of twenty years? You can't facelift a car for ever. This EQS is completely new, and superior in practically every aspect.

That spaceship sound was def dope af.

Looks better an an AMG
For some reason the looks grew on me a lot.
Very impressive having this car to review before anyone else. This is the first AMG electric car! This is a very big deal
This is the second one. The first one was the SLS electric drive
Whew, evolution is happening right in front of our eyes 😅

Unfortunately cars have to look a certain way to be aerodynamic. They could probably do different styling when the batteries improve
That rear middle headrest though
@@TotallyJoel it’s got a similar silhouette, for lack of a better term to a 9th gen civic. Just a strange, bulbous shape for such an expensive car.

That interior!! 😍
Great Review as always, Sofyan

Beautiful AMG EQS ! So much better than a Tesla ! Slainte' ! Cheers !
wow, only two years I dont work for MBZ as a svc tech. This EQS is alot different with the old EB. Beautiful car.
This and the TAYCAN makes the tesla exterior looks dated....I don't care how quick the TESLA is I'd rather have the AMG

benz for lifeeee
If you have an opportunity one day, you should do an Audi RS ETron/Model S Plaid/Taycan/EQS AMG shootout.

Disappointed. MB flagship sedans historically were stately and iconic. Exterior design on this one falls short
