  • In this video, we are comparing the video quality and features of the DJI Mini 3 Pro versus the DJI Air 2S to help you decide which is the best drone for you. The DJI Air 2S is over a year old but still a favorite for many drone pilots. There is a lot to consider when choosing a drone not only the quality of photos and videos it captures but other aspects like weight, features, portability, flight time and flight speed are also important things to consider. If you are unsure if you should purchase the DJI Mini 3 Pro or the DJI Air 2S hopefully this video will help you with your decision. At the end of the day, both are excellent drones, and no matter which one you choose you will be extremely pleased.

    I have an Air2S and a Mini 2. I’m going to Vancouver BC next week coming from WA and I am bringing the Mini 2 to fly in Canada. I love that I don’t have to register it because of the 249 g weight. I’m also bringing the 2S To use while still in the US and use it on stops along the way. I love having the two options. I thought about selling my 2S to buy the Mini 3 but I’ll just stick with having the two drones I have now as I have options for lighter travel with the Mini 2 and Air 2s for windy and higher quality work. The Mini 2 does have more stamps on it’s travel passport because it’s so portable and doesn’t annoy people :). Great video comparison!

    The Air2S can film in 5K which is really a big difference if you edit your own videos because it give you some room to crop in and still have 4K video output. Also, the Air2S has precision landing system that the Mini 3 does not. There's a second camera on the bottom that takes a picture of the ground that it uses to navigate return and landing in the exact spot not 3 feet away. Not really a big deal but impressive none the less. It's just more sophisticated.

      Air2S: better dynamic range, more detail: Both you can see clearly in his video fly comparison. This is not a small difference unless you shoot only for social media. Agreed 5.4K makes a big difference. You have a lossless Zoom of 1.4 as well. I only shoot in 5.4K and log. If I'm in tight spaces then I use the mini 2. Good enough.

    I currently use a mavic air 1 and have been looking to upgrade so this video was very useful. The two big issues I have with it are losing connectivity and the in flight noise so my questions are what are the noise comparisons between these two and also between the air 1 and also whats the connectivity like between the 3 drones.
    As a final note i would prefer the air but really like some features of the mini pro. Do you have an idea of if and when an air 3 might come out which will hopefully combine the two?

      Do I have a story about focusing. I got a replacement drone because the drone I bought straight from dji .. 5feet off the ground .. the back left propellers stoped spinning in mid air .. which caused the other propellers to stop spinning and down it came right on the gimbal, camera. Before the crash the camera had a hard time focusing and the gimbal was kind of malfunction. But after about 30 seconds everything was ok. Anyways the replacement comes in 3 days ago. And I setup the drone and the camera tries to focus and it just keeps trying… but never achieve it. I decided to try and fly .. maybe it would focus after all. No, nope could not see anything because it didn’t focus at all. Now all this ..in under one month.. with two drones. I gave up on dji. They didn’t seem to care to makes things right. I still had to pay the $65 for sending it … even tho I had dji care refresh. Etc. I love this drone but.. dji dropped the ball. Big time. Maybe il upload the videos first the crash with the propellers stop spinning and also the focusing issues out of the box with the new dji mini 3. I’m at a loss for words on how this can happen two times in a row.

Of course, one could purchase the DJI RC Pro, which works with the Air 2S, but the price of it is more expensive than the Air 2S itself. I read an article a few months ago that the Smart Controller, which was an option with the Air 2S, has been discontinued. I've been holding out waiting to see if DJI updates its firmware so the DJI RC will work with the Air 2S, which I would likely jump on. Good video, thank you.

    In a shop I looked and compared and (hearing from yourself) there is little comparison in between these two. I believe the Winner takes it all as Abba's song used to go and that is Air2s. Feels better, obstacle avoidance better and 1" sensor. Yes! :)

      when folded down and stored in a case, isn't it only saving you a fraction of the space? is the actual bag carrying the drone even noticeably different in size between these 2 models? it's not very noticeable to me anyways.. the air 2s will out perform the mini 3 pro in most ways especially in actual flight performance ans camera where it matters most. people need to be careful when deciding between these 2 as they are not apples to apples and the current price difference isn't very much. I have both and there's just no situation where I want the mini 3 pro over the air 2s. both are cool but the air 2s is superior in my opinion, in every way that matters.

    @urbanstreet_4282 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Field of view is not so important when you are in the air, since in most cases you can simply take the shot from further away and then get the same framing.
    The biggest problem with the Air 2S is the fact that you need a drone license for it here in Europe, as it weighs over 250g. If you don't want to do that, the only option is the Mini 3 Pro. But I think the differences in video quality are so small that most people won't notice it. A big advantage is of course the compactness: the best drone is the one you always have with you.

    At 7:00, with the side-by-side, is the detail in the trees really the result of the sensor, or is that more of an exposure setting? The contrast on the 2S just seems better -- check out the detail in the foreground and the row of trees. There's a really stark difference.

    This is an Amazing Review. I've been holding off for a couple years getting a drone. I think the Mini 3 Pro is the one for me. I was tempted to go with the Air 2S, because it's sensor at 1" matches my other cameras. I can DEFINITELY see a difference in detail with the Air 2S coming out on top. That said, the huge difference in prices between the two with upgraded color controllers makes the Mini 3 a no brainer, at least for me. At the time of me writing this, the Mini 3 Pro with the RC color controller is US$909. For the Air 2S and the RC1Pro color controller I'd need to pay US$700-800 more.

    I own both. Bought Air 2S when it was released and did the same with Mini 3.
    Mini 3 is growing on me too. Air 2S is almost too powerful sometimes, when I want to fly slowly and record something close up. But it's very good in heavy wind and when flying far away in the outdoors.
    Mini 3 is very quiet. I can fly around a group of friends and we can still talk. A big plus. The weight is wonderful too.
    I do a lot of panorama photos and are still using mostly Air 2S for that. (Far away and outdoors.) But I will try and switch to Mini 3 for panoramas too.

  • @fagyal

    The 2S definitely has better image quality, no matter what certain reviewers are trying to make you believe :) I guess it's due to the sensor size (the area of the sensor is almost 2x, just do the math), sharpness is better (I think partially due to the smaller aperture, not just the sensor), noise is lower, there is less color fringing, and D-Log will always be better than D-Cinelike. 5.7k is also a no brainer. FWIW, in my country, the 2S is now actually cheaper than the 3 Pro (799 EUR with controller). The big question is whether you can live with the higher weight and noise of the 2S.

    Pretty hard choice. I have the original Pro Controller with the Mini 2. The Air 2s can fly with the original Pro Controller where the Mini 3 cannot. I do like the size/weight of the Mini 3 along with camera quality. I’m leaning towards the Air 2s for compatibility sake and photo capabilities.

Air 2s looks heavy and well built and can take crash, repairable, I have not used the air2s but I have seen photo comparison and photos look stunning and yet at the same time I want mini 3 pro, no drone regulation under 249 grams and that vertical shooting and yet I have got so many warnings of high wind. Potentially weddings, real estate, local sports clubs etc. Not too worried about the weight as registration is not expensive in Ireland. Although I travel a lot around Europe with my job and I would love to be free to take it with me. What is the best option for me I really cant decide. Obviously if I do well I intend to upgrade or add to my fleet so could eventually own both. Any advice welcome, thank you.

    Actually I was in between those due to ADS-B feature of AIR 2S. Mini 3 is more convenient for my business but I was thinking it would be good to have ADS-B In on my drone. What do you think about it ?

  • @deeper4cheaper128
    @deeper4cheaper128 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I have had the 2S for a while now, picked up a M3 pro to see if it would compare. It for sure holds its own but I am returning it, main issues are over heating, wind resistance, and build quality. The light weight aspect just isn’t worth sacrificing performance compared to the 2S.
    I was simply transferring some media from the drone to my phone by wire as I couldn’t get the quick transfer to work, it overheated indoors with the room at 75°F. Flying in Florida, the drone was warm after flight, way hot compared to the 2S, it didn’t overheat during flight but it is for sure a concern if you read some other reviews. I feel the overheating issue is worth passing up the M3P alone.

      I live in South FL, I was in between these two. Yes you’re right, but I was also considering in terms of ADS-B, I know that most of the time we fly in class G but I was thinking having ADS-B would be safer operation. Do you think is it too necessary ?

    In your video you said that you can fly a sub 250g drone in Canada beyond VLOS and go higher than 400 feet. Are you able to direct me to the section of the Transport Canada rules that state this? I only ask because i was always under the impression that both VLOS and over 400 feet were not allowed unless you have an SFOC.

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s where it gets difficult. There’s not a rule that says you can but there’s not a rule that says you can’t for some 250. It gives you some suggestions for safe flight. It also states not to fly in a manner to put people or other aircraft at risk. This is what most people refer to as the don’t do anything stupid rule. Also just because you can doesn’t mean you should rule.
