@@user-iw1oj6to4r I know him and agree with him on lots of things, but I’m not Jewish🙂 He’s got a lot of great stuff to say and he’s fully honest and upfront about his political leaning towards moderately conservative, rather than pretending to be centrist like so many do. He’s pretty good, and has been great at getting me to understand the level of insanity in the modern far left woke movement. He can be quite witty, but he sometimes assumes things of his opponents in debates, like he did with Andrew Neil. I also love Sam Harris.

I consider the act of removing six of my teeth by an orthodontist to be an act of criminal negligence. They were healthy adult teeth that I can never get back. The problem was not having too many teeth (how absurd), but a small palate caused by poor oral posture and chronic lack of chewing. I wish I had known about orthotropics when I was younger.

I am also feeling much sorrow over my four pulled and healthy teeth.
I asked for help to not have crooked teeth since I was little. I cared about the problems with cleaning and only cared secondarily about the aesthetics of it.
Had I learned about all this then as a kid (just as I now have about many health issues) I would have done it very seriously and refused the braces I asked for for years.
I feel cheated. I asked prior to the procedures if we really have to pull the teeth? Ultimately, they made me choose between pulling teeth or crooked teeth. I chose the latter and now I regret it.

I'm a 53 year old woman and just found out about "mewing" from my 16 year old son (who just got his braces off). This is literally life changing. Also confirms so many issues that have gotten profoundly worse; t.m.j., sinus headaches and teeth clenching when stressed. I've only been doing the tongue pressed to the pallet for 1 week and have seen a "huge" change already. Not only my "double chin" but my sinus migraines which are brought on by weather changes. Now I'm watching everything I can on it. Sure I care what I look like (who doesn't?), but it doesn't matter how great you look when you are debilitated by a horrific migraine in the middle of you face! Thank you and thank you to your brilliant, kind, humble, articulate father.

Long faces, tired eyes, crooked smiles. It began to feel as if the Mews might be right on this single but essential point, if on nothing else. Orthodontists’ unwillingness to engage with this claim - that industrialized life was shifting our teeth and reshaping our jaws - showed, at the very least, a confounding lack of curiosity about the causes of the problem they were looking at. Yeah, I never needed braces. I just had an overbite I easily could have fixed by changing my mewing habit, I was/am a natural mewer without knowing. That wicked ortho scared me with fUtUrE problems. And since we are brainwashed to trust every doctor with a license, I am today damaged for life. Two premolars pulled from my maxilla and my whole maxilla retracted in size. Mandible never had premolars pulled or braces, fortunately.
Today I suffer tinnitus, breathing issues, neck and jaw pain, jaw clicking and even some hair loss because of scalp tension. All that because of Premolar extraction retraction.

Since mewing I can now breathe freely through my nose while lying on my back and exercising. My cheekbones and jaw are more defined. My wisdom teeth are coming through. Thanks to your advice on mouthtaping my jaw is not loose at night & it has helped provide a better structure to my jaw. I have been doing this for about a year I have also been mewing and I find this had helped with jowels I no longer have.
I notice when I start to forget to tape my mouth my jaw slightly starts to lose this structure. You have prevented me from allowing my orthodontist from ripping out 2 healthy teeth & have me the ability to directly say no to this & stand by my decision with confidence. You explained the complications of which how my TMD could be worsened & because of you i noticed that everytime the manipulated my jaw it would start to click & i could not eat . Thanks to you, i understood why this was happening to me and i used your excersizes to pull it back out - which relieves the clicking and the Tmj/Tmd. Since I have refused to let them manipulate my jae , my bite is still coming together beautifully though they fought me about the teeth and tge jaw manipulation .. & my problems actually are going away since they stopped manipulating it - because you gave me the ability to babysit my own health in a very educated way.
Back to the mouth taping tho - i would like to ad that i do smoke and i would tend to weaze and clear my throat at night - I never snored loud - but more sometimes quietly . By taping my mouth , I nolonger need to clear my throat because I breathe threw my nose. I sleep a loy better/calmer & I have more energy .
    I stand behind you 100 percent .

Uh, it is widespread unquestioned truth that losing teeth without replacing them will irreparably change your jaws, even if you're old. That the skull bones can change by daily behavior is already accepted truth, what they don't like is the idea of free daily unregulated PT for your face to improve function instead of surgeries.
I can understand their dislike of people linking it so heavily to attractiveness because health is what is important not beauty, but this is classic annoying human bullshit like how you are far more likely to get a smoker to quit by telling them about the many ways it makes them physically uglier like giving them premature wrinkles and skin liver spots, (and how makes their boners weaker) than that it will rot their lungs and cut decades off their life span. Telling someone to stop resting their tongue in a position that will increase health problems like breathing difficulties and more will most of the time be met with shrugs and apathy, tell them it will make them look better without costing any money, and suddenly they care. Human vanity is pretty frustrating in terms of how disproportionately much people care about it vs their actual daily health.

      Maria Cuevas
Here I answer you in English:
Why do women insist on maintaining the lie that you are not as superficial as men or more? To look good to society? It bothers women a lot to look bad in society and they will never recognize a reality if that reality leaves them in a bad place. The physique matters for everyone and matters a lot, although it is not the only thing that matters as the Incels say, the problem is that the physique matters today more than it should matter as it is the only selection criterion that is being used within social networks (the means or method of dating most used today). Basically the proliferation of Incels is a consequence of the widespread use of social networks to flirt since these networks impose on people a context where they can only be valued by their physique, so many people who are not physically attractive (but who could be attractive for other reasons) is ruled out. And this is the reason why the Incels are putting so much emphasis on the physical (reaching exaggeration to the point of thinking that the physical is the only thing that determines your desirability for the opposite sex, something that of course within social networks if so, but not in the real world). We are in the age of the internet, in the age of the image, in the age of social networks and this has greatly harmed men who are not physically attractive to flirt. There has been no other time in history where physique has been so overrated. We live in a society more superficial than ever because our society is a virtual society where the physical or the image is the only thing that matters to link, and all because of social networks, the frivolity of the virtual medium. In addition, social networks generate another pernicious effect and that is that apart from imposing a context where only the physical matters, the large and exorbitant number of suitors and options that women receive within these networks (much more than they would receive in a world without networks) is something that makes them even more demanding/superficial (either within that medium or in reality). Never in history have they had so many options or suitors. Social networks offer them an excess of options that make them even more demanding, and it is normal because the more options you have to choose from, the more selective you will be. And if we have a context to flirt where only the physical matters and where women are more demanding than normal, you will have the perfect breeding ground to have the most superficial women in history and to have a fairly significant number of ugly men unable to flirt.

To the many people in the comments trashing the NY times: please actually read the article and/or watch the video to the end. The final note the article ends on strongly suggests the Mew's are onto something and the author is critical of the establishment Orthodontic community for not engaging with some very basic issues and questions regarding facial and dental health. However, nobody is perfect and that definitely goes for the Mew's as well - they don't claim to have all the answers, and there might not be merit in all the things they put forward. That doesn't suddenly discount the things that do. I think this criticism is healthy both ways - as Mike said the end of him will be his own ego - and definitely will give these ideas more traction. Yes, sometimes the author was critical. Yes, it wasn't always fair. But I'll be very surprised if this article isn't a net gain.
Thank you Mike Mew for going through the full article, offering your own perspective and filling in some of the blanks. I daresay when it comes to the social issues you are still a bit naive (it is definitely important whom you chose to engage with and to consider what are their motivations are, although I understand the pickings are few when you are effectively blacklisted. The headline and angle for large parts of the article is proof it comes back to bite you later), but you speak sensible and proven yourself to be dedicated to the scientific process, even when the means to apply it are kept from you. I hope you and your father will have the opportunity to share all your findings and records with some sort of comparative research on the topic. It is sorely needed.

This is my case I would like Dr Mew or anyone interested to observe and comment upon:
I have a visible overbite and also a stutterer primary with lower jaw trembling while speaking... I developed a bad habit on making my lower jaw slack so that lower lip would meet the upper lip, this had an effect of somewhat hiding my overbite, I think some refer as jutting the lower jaw forward artificially.. I don't know whether this is the cause of my stuttering, or just a coincidence, anyways I am not commenting for my stuttering problem... However now I realized that this bad oral posture was the primary reason that I was not able to breathe through nose, I had come across the proper tongue posture theory but I was not able to sustain the tongue posture due to this bad habit, keeping the tongue on the roof of the mouth was difficult for me while keeping this posture.. This bad posture I think also affected my cognition/thinking abilities and memory capacity, this may be due to my face balance out of whack and the habit of improper breathing habits... Now, I am training myself to keep my lower jaw not stray forward or I think in medical terms my mandible now stays intact and not let loose from its socket.. I am easily able to keep the normal tongue posture, it stays there automatically now in this oral posture now..
So, my concern is whether the proper oral posture and tongue posture affects one's thinking and memory, because for me it has been night and day difference.. I am able to think so much faster now and also able to remember the details much better... or this is just the effect of nose breathing that I am able to do now versus mouth or improper breathing that I was doing due to the bad oral posture...

Finaly, the comment ive been searching for all along.
I too have the same problem, and all I gotta say is, more healthy oxygen to the brain = better brain function. Healthier, becuase our nose filters the oxygem we breath better.

Thank you for this Mike. The article frames orthotropics negatively, unfortunately. Any reasonable person can see the benefits of healthy facial posture and the evidence speaks for itself.

I feel sad. Whether you are right or wrong isn’t even the underlying issue. But the fact that science has stagnated this much says a lot about our civilization. I
applaud you persistence, sir. I hope you are vindicated.

The NYT is extremely politically biased. I would take their articles, *especially* their opinion pieces like this one, with a grain of salt.
