Blasted this at my Dad's funeral, we used to watch live at Pompei every saturday night. R.I.P dad, you gave me my taste of music, that's more than any man could ask for, you gave me Floyd, you were the headteacher who used to blast Pink Floyd in his classroom.
Your dad sounds like my kind of teacher Joe R. Put all the unimportant stuff like maths, English, history, geography etc; to one side, and lets learn about the important thing in life...Pink Floyd😉👌✌
This music just hit me right in the feels. I cannot express how much these sounds can deeply touch someone, I cannot even understand how these four guys found out the secret to produce such heavenly music. This is perfection, nothing is to be changed. Pompeii live had just been one of the greatest moments in music history and I can't help but shed a tear when hearing this version of the song. God definitely exists: he penetrated David Gilmour's voice, Richard Wright and Nick Mason's hands, and Roger Water's brain. I want to die hearing this music.
Ahhh, this is so cathartic. I’m so obsessed with all the Pompeii recordings especially.. just eerily beautiful.. He looks so primal with hair blowing across his face while singing.. Hey don’t judge! Lol, it’s been a long day, and this song feels like the comfort I need! Gods of Rock playing to the ancient land.. nothin’ better.. I need to just break down and buy the DVD, lol. 🤘🏻
This is my #1 Pink Floyd song ever. This is a close to an out of body "religious" experience I've ever had. I wish life was like this everyday. This is the one and few good things my dad gave me. I'm going to pass this to my son. Just put on your headphones, take anything you like, and full blast it till you find peace.
Izzy I don't know if you are being serious or not but hippies were people in the 60s-70s in western countries that were known for wearing colourful clothing, listening to trippy music, having long hair and taking drugs haha.
3:50 This is my favorite part. You can see hear and feel the sheer passion in Nick’s drumming, as well as the rest of the band the entire piece. Absolutely divine
This song helped me to cry over and over during a crucial time in my life. It was clearing and healing for me... There were no words that could have sufficed.
You can see it in their faces, they knew what they were creating here in this moment. They had reached their creative zenith. Every time I listen to this piece of the song it pushes out all the uncertainty and fills the voids with hope. This music could save the world if people would just listen to it, absorb it, and follow it blindly to its emotional epiphany.
This piece of music makes me feel like I'm really in another place in time. I imagine viewing a sunset in ancient Rome or something. Pink Floyd's music truly grasps your imagination. Legends.
Some days ago I began to listen out loud while walking at home exercises and two of my grandsons walked or ran with me, laughing and enjoying the moment. I am 63 now. I hope that when I'm gone, many many years ahead, and God will help get so far, all my four dear grandsons, Loren 12, Luiz Carlos Jr 8, Valentina 8 and Lívia 4, will also listen and read these words. My gift for them with all my love. Hope TH-cam never delete this message, please.
creo que Pink Floyd es y fue en si mismo su propio genero y estilo dentro del rock y de la musica en general, eso los hace unicos e inigualables. Son una especie unica.
Roger Waters used Fender Precision Bass Black David Gilmour used Fender Stratocaster Guitar/Sennheiser Microphone MD-409 Richard Wright used Hammond B-3 Organ Nick Mason used Seven-piece Ludwig drum kit Amplification: 3 Hiwatt DR103 Amp Cabinets 1 Leslie 147 Cabinet A lot of WEM PA's
Fuzzface, Univibe, Binson Tape Echo :) and a De'Armond Volume Pedal hitting the HiWatts. He uses different amps in the studio. Hiwatts are always present 50 watt ones, Fender Twin Reverb, Bassman, Magnatone, Sound City, and later on Allesandros. He also uses a Guitar Tube Preamp that hits the power amp sections of the hiwatts. A Superchamp, Mesa Boogie, and a HH solid state power amp that went to his rotating speaker cab. Leslie, Yamaha, Doppolas and there is one more he has used. His sound is Strat, Tele, p90 Les Paul -> Fuzz/Muff -> Overdrive/Boost -> Modulation -> Delay -> EL84 amps and assorted cabs. Then there is the compressor and eq pedal. He doesn't really use that much but has a lot to reach for when he fed a song or part needs it. He also played bass guitar on a lot of albums. I love Big Muff -> Flanger -> Delay/Reverb because of his influence. Flanger is much more diverse than chorus becausd you can get a chorus sound out of them too. Gilmourish.com goes in a sea of depth on his rig.
3 grams of mushrooms in the middle of a forest and an endless, timeless, cosmic display of glory, power, and infinite love throughout every possible pattern of existence
Absolutely amazing...transcendental :) and David6his singing in the end is beyond beautiful, celestial really. He's the ultimate, a "renaissance man"...
Yup. We listened to this song as we brought our sweet dog, Ariel, home for her last few hours with hemangiosarcoma, before being put to rest 7 hours later at her home. I was blaring this song, the other night, and it hit me hard. I started bawling uncontrollably. Then after the song was over my daughter said she had been sleeping and Ariel appeared in her dream, out of nowhere. My daughter then woke up with a start and tears streaming down her cheeks. She was on the opposite end of the house and asleep and it affected her deeply, while unconscious. It is a beautiful masterpiece.
One of the most, if not the most emotional piece of music from Pink Floyd and so early in their career! Wonderful. I have always wanted to hear this piece played on a church pipe organ, any idea if anyone has tried this?
I've always wondered, how people of Naples would react if they knew they was there? I mean, look at all those amps! They must have heard them! And my god, David sings like a damn angel...
There's an interview with the director and he said the walls of the amphitheatre pretty much contained all the sound to the point it couldn't have attracted that much attention
Just returned from Europe and was fortunate enough to stand on the very spot that PF played in Pompeii. Awesome experience and the museum-like photos and memories of the show in the corridors was a great bonus!
Great job for posting Celestial Voices as a stand alone piece! I notice that when I listen to the entire Saucerful of Secrets I tend to miss on the beauty of the jam and my mind doesn't click until David's vocals. I assume that this happens because I subconsciously tune out during all the weirdness of the first three parts. But when I listen to Celestial Voices alone, the jam comes to the forefront and shines like an amazing piece of music that it is.
Aquí escuchando, esta hermosa obra grande Pink Floyd gracias por toda tu música ya que en pandemia no me queda de otra. Desde Chile un gran abrazo los amoooooo
Absolutely adore this song so fucking much. Such a brilliant song, pure genius. I can listen to do this one again and again and again. The keyboard carries me away and the guitar, the bass, the drums and the vocals just float with and against it. One of the best songs I've ever heard in my life.
The Soundtrack of the hereafter, music of Paradise Pink. Floyd. *Forever...* True story; one of my best mates had a wish upon the event he passed on; play this at his wake. It shall and was accomplished, R.I.P SCOTT B.
+Joella Z I just wanna go back in time and bear hug them all!! Especially Roger! I also wanna braid David's hair for some reason. It was just so long during this period of time.
Blasted this at my Dad's funeral, we used to watch live at Pompei every saturday night.
R.I.P dad, you gave me my taste of music, that's more than any man could ask for, you gave me Floyd, you were the headteacher who used to blast Pink Floyd in his classroom.

Heartfelt condolences, Joe.

Your dad is proud of his boy in the Heaven....hearing "Celestial voices"
Your dad sounds like an absolute legend! May he rest in peace.
In 42 years I've never heard versions of these songs better than the ones performed at Pompeii
.-.
That's pink Floyd for you when the live version is better than the studio album
44 here and I'm with you. Just now listening to the Pompeii recordings and they truly are THE BEST!
It's the power of the energy left there inspiring them. I'm just glad it was recorded so well.
Same
This beautiful jam will be playing at my funeral as they burry me
+Churrumais And mine!
I could listen to this jam for hours, this type of music takes my spirit to the stars

I was lucky enough to see pink Floyd in 1971 and 1975, awesome concerts, great fucking music, they were not fucking hippies, just great musicians
dave was a hippie lol

Most heartfelt, emotional 4 minutes in rock history....
increíble. hoy con toda la tecnología y no escucho música así.
The most genius band ever. I love pink floyd

One of the finest compositions written.

thats not a hammond b3. its a M100 series.
There were 2 or 3 Leslies actually. Dave often ran his guitar through one and one was used for the piano on Echoes.
Rick also played a Farfisa organ
