Yep, Roger hinting by repeating that slightly out of tune note, bass and drum just holding for a bit... Dave tunes the string... And they're off again.
Meh...... The difference is subtle but this live version is actually a lot better than the album version. As for the album itself, Cymbaline's the only track I bother playing most of the time. The rest of the tracks seem to be more or less just 'filler'. But *this* live version is one of my all time favourite pieces of music. Curious combination really.
I love Dave in this video. First he gives Rick the evil eye because Rick's noodling too much while he's singing. And then he tunes Roger's bass while he plays. He was a pro, even 46 years ago.
+Chuck Elkins I don't use "god" anymore but "the source" .. I am a female writer composer too! And I do have a few songs that are talking about that love that is there ..the anwsers and stuff.. but its really far from being talking about a "he" guiding and stuff like that . Im sorry bout my english Im french Canadian.. anyways. take care

Would have inclined to 'yep' ......... then they scammed us with 'Endless Drivvel'. A lifelong Floyd fan since 'See Emily Play' I did NOT appreciate that.
This song makes me feel heartbroken yet cheerful, pink floyd, the best thing that ever happened to music in the twentieth century, Greetings from sudameric
+Ivan Alvarez Everytime I hear songs like Cymbaline, Country Song, See-Saw, Summer '68, Fat Old Sun, Narrow Way Part 3, and on and on, all the music just after Syd left up until Dark Side I say the same thing to myself. Would have loved to #1 been alive to see it and #2 wished I could hop in a time machine and go back as I am now to experience this era of their music live. Everything all the way through Live at Pompeii and even Obscured by Clouds.
+Taila KHAM PO Rick was using the joystick of a device called the Azimuth Coordinator which when used with their famous quadrophonic sound system would direct the sound around the concert hall.
+Helium Road That passage starting at the 5:25 marker is lovely and it sounds awfully like the recovery from the freeform part of Echoes, doncha think? Heard this for the first time tonight; Gilmour's vocals are a bit shaky in parts, and Water's bass definitely needed that tune up, but I love it!
The one and only Rick Wright operating the Floyds' own "Azimuth Co-ordinator" which made effects seem to move around the hall at 0 :21 in the video.......R.I.P Richard, you were a BIG part of The Pink Floyd Sound.
I respect all members of this band but I think Waters deserves more than any other because of his sheer input and commitment, albeit arrogant, he still delivered the goods. Who cares if he was controlling. He thought he had good reason and if not for this The Wall would never have happened the way it did, or The Final Cut and even Wish You Were Here. So y'all need to go easier on our man Roger. He may be flawed but I can forgive that. I'm sure Gilmour does.
I know some folk like 'em but for me The Wall & The Final Cut were the *worst* things Floyd ever did. ....... So I ain't buying your argument for one minute Mr Crabsocks. Mostly what made Floyd great was the synchronicity and the competition amongst the group as a whole. Roger Waters had the right to go off on his own and he had his own issues to deal with, but don't fool yourself - that really did detract from Floyd for a fair while in consequence. Putting all that sadness aside - THIS - this is one of the most etherial and beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. Its right up there, and maybe edging a whisker in front of, the sessions at Pompeii amphitheatre.
3:59 these are the pink floyd moments I live for. That jam after 3:59 is beautiful. Really well done I love the song obviously but the way the music transitions to this ambient mystical space is so amazing to me and it's why love pink floyd. Thanks Ale for introducing them to me.
Finally video... I've been wondering for decades whats happening on stage when the footsteps segment comes up and the audience always erupts in several fits of laughter. NOOOO!!! DON"T CUT IT OOOOOUT!!!! AAAAAARRRRRRGHGGGHGH
Pink Floyd, man, what can you say....geniuses all four of them. Celebrated the 40th anniversary of Dark Side Of the Moon yesterday. Put on the album and launched myself to the moon....bliss! Everything they have recorded is excellent in its own unique way. Their music will soar for ever.
Wow. This may be the first video I have ever seen of the The Azimuth Co-ordinator being used by Rick Wright. This my favorite era of the Floyd. Thanks for posting this gem.
Thanks Andre ..... Always took it at face value it was a church but your comment prompted me to search and Abbaye de Royaumont is coming up as now a 'cultural centre for the arts'. Can't think of a better use for any venue.
This is my favorite version. Always has been. Ok and then there is Mr Gilmore. Among the most beautiful and talented EVER. Yep. Ima long time follower.
Wonderful. I have spent my life waiting to hear something that happened when I was 11. I knew Cymbaline from 'The Theme From More' and then from the Hawkwind version that appeared as an extra on the reissue of their first album. This is a superbly emotive version of this song. I love it. Pure beauty of sound and heart.
@angie4josh It's good to know other people come back to this again and again. Several Floyd videos have been shut down lately due to youtube's new rules. If this particular one vanishes I will be devastated.
Every era of Pink Floyd was special and unique from '65-'80, but there's something about their post Syd and pre dark side that is just magical!
Their versatility and varied catalogue is astounding, so different yet so wonderful
This particular era sounds so raw and powerful
❤❤❤❤
I call this their hippy era. And it's my favorite too.
Love this version. Studio is okay, but this one tops it. Gilmour's raw vocals and instruments are beyond words to describe.
2024, who else listening!
Absolutely mate👍🏻 my favourite band. Brilliant musicians.
Jamais cessé de l'écouter

Floyd will live on through the ages
Gilmour tuned Roger's bass half way through the song. That's some pro stuff right there.
Yep, Roger hinting by repeating that slightly out of tune note, bass and drum just holding for a bit... Dave tunes the string... And they're off again.
@@fordprefect9296 Such great musicianship
Something David and Richard did on a regular basis.
To me, David Gilmour was and has been the best looking man in the whole world!! After nearly 50 yrs, I'm still in love with him.
me too 😆
Me too!!
me too. I found him these days, never knew this amazing band has such a beautiful member
Oh my goodness me toooooo 🔥

one of the most underrated albums ever, More is a beautiful masterpiece and I hope everybody could appreciate it
carolina romero i love more so much more than the wall
James Watson
More is for sure something i need more of.
More than likely I will listen more often.

David Gilmour is gorgeous in every way
J Bats as a straight male, I have to agree. that's one good looking HeyZues
isn't he just
Hell to that Yes !!
Good taste!
He's my god
I love Dave in this video. First he gives Rick the evil eye because Rick's noodling too much while he's singing. And then he tunes Roger's bass while he plays. He was a pro, even 46 years ago.
I would go to church any day if they were playing. This is so wonderfully brilliant.
David is so divine, he makes me sigh.
never be another band like pink Floyd they set the tables for this sound .masterful they are .REST in Peace Richard Wright truly missed
Pretty sure I need Pink Floyd to come play at my church, maybe then I'd actually go more 😇🙏
hahahaha
lol, you n me both I like that man, too funny
Then I will moove to your town and go to church

The path you tread is narrow
And the drop is shear and very high
The ravens all are watching
From a vantage point nearby
Apprehension creeping
Like a tube-train up your spine
Will the tightrope reach the end
Will the final couplet rhyme
And it's high time, Cymbaline
It is high time, Cymbaline
Please wake me
A butterfly with broken wings
Is falling by your side
The ravens all are closing in
There's nowhere you can hide
Your manager and agent
Are both busy on the phone
Selling colored photographs
To magazines back home
And it's high time, Cymbaline
It is high time, Cymbaline
Please wake me
The lines converging where you stand
They must have moved the picture plane
The leaves are heavy around your feet
You hear the thunder of the train
And suddenly it strikes you
That they're moving into range
And Doctor Strange
Is always changing size
And it's high time, Cymbaline
It is high time, Cymbaline
Please wake me
And it's high time, Cymbaline
It is high time, Cymbaline
Please wake me
JS G I think it's "Dr Strange is always changing sides"
DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE KNOWS THAT ' HAWKWIND' DID A COVER OF ' CYMBALINE

Played this version on my grandmother's Hammond organ..
Wow...thank u
great!! how hard it peaks and how quiet it leaves!! these guys were and always will be no.1 psychedelic rock band
+Remi Vézina I would call PF Psychedelic blues
This is my religion. Pink Floyd for ever.
Forever and ever.
It's high time, cymbaline
Would have inclined to 'yep' ......... then they scammed us with 'Endless Drivvel'.

This song makes me feel heartbroken yet cheerful, pink floyd, the best thing that ever happened to music in the twentieth century, Greetings from sudameric
This song, Dave's gorgeous voice & face plus the eeriness of the church makes this such a beautiful video. ❤
Such a haunting performance. Awesome setting! They were just beginning to come into their own after syd left. If ever I wanted a time machine ):
+Ivan Alvarez Everytime I hear songs like Cymbaline, Country Song, See-Saw, Summer '68, Fat Old Sun, Narrow Way Part 3, and on and on, all the music just after Syd left up until Dark Side I say the same thing to myself. Was Rick Wright cooking space pasta at the beginning?
I think he was moving a thing to make David and the keyboards to echo.
It's a type of surround , to move the sound in 4 different positions,
if you seek better you can find more info.
+Taila KHAM PO Rick was using the joystick of a device called the Azimuth Coordinator which when used with their famous quadrophonic sound system would direct the sound around the concert hall.
hahaha
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Love Gilmour's voice
Now, this would certainly get me to go to church.
And you know? - you puppet...
Cool song many people dont even know I guess. I really like Dave's kinda raw voice here which sounds brilliant!
Goldhand28 it's from Music from the film More, third album of pink floyd, yeah I know it
Goldhand28 narrow way is another
Love everything from them... Specially with David Gilmour, the imortal voice and guitar...Forever in my mind and heart...
This is amazing. That outro starting around 5:25 is beautiful. The Floyd transports you to another place in time and space.
+Helium For me that most beautiful part starts at 3:50 and ends at 5:50 ...
+Arjen Janssen Exactly!

THE BEST BAND and THE BEST guitarist GILMOUR Great ❤
And vocalist
Enchanting... Pure music and creativity. The immortal Pink Floyd!! Thanks for sharing
wow i like that :) i wish to hear it somehow
BEST VERSION EVER! THAT SONG MAKE ME CRY ALL THE TIME!!! ITS TOO POWERFALLL!!!
the bass at 4:02 is out of tune i like the way Gilmour goes over at 4:15 and tunes Rogers bass while he is still playing it
bluesandminis looked like about the 4:00 mark Roger motioned to David that he knew and was hoping he would give him a hand....
It was a frequent occurrence through out their run. Roger is tone deaf and therefore can't tune his bass. Usually Rick would tune for him.
sources please

Haunting, I love it, cymbaline is to escape and it being so closed in is just perfect.
O musico que eu mais admiro.David Gilmour o melhor guitarrista de todos os tempos, e esta voz é qualquer coisa divinal!
RIP Richard Wright...
I remember watching this concert on PBS's SOUNDSTAGE back in the day, I always remembered this performance in particular......
A butterfly with broken wings is falling by your side..... this always causes me tears. Great version !
a butterfly with broken wings is falling by your side 🔺 the most beatiful time of pink floyd and I Love ya Sir Gilmour
Roger's lyrics ❤
Fernanda Fierros as far as I am concerned 1968 to 1977 is the best era of Pink Floyd.
Come un tatuaggio siete nella mia vita e per sempre rimarrete, la vostra musica è una bella cosa , perché i ricordi con voi non finiscono mai .
The drums are amazing in this song.
David had to overcome alot of deficiencies after the Mad Hatter's unfortunate decline. I think he did quite well! Legends.
3:59 these are the pink floyd moments I live for. That jam after 3:59 is beautiful. Really well done I love the song obviously but the way the music transitions to this ambient mystical space is so amazing to me and it's why love pink floyd. Thanks Ale for introducing them to me.

For my , the best pink Floyd, 1970-1973 !!!!
71' - their peak as a live band
+montageofheck Yeah, the stuff they were doing right before Dark Side of the Moon was amazing, there is nothing else like it.

Freaking love playing this song with my bros!!!
Where on God's green earth can I get this entire concert??????
man i feel that way about other clips we've seen..

I've heard the word Cymbaline was used becuase it sounds like 'A simple line' which makes sense in the drug context of the film/song. Amazing song.
I love Gilmour's voice...silk with a soupçon of gravel.
I am pretty sure, David is from some other galaxy.
Thanks for pointing that out! I did some research after reading your comment...
Pink Floyd the best band of all time

No,he is STILL !!!!
He was the most beautiful man on earth in his youth, but his charming smile has never changed until today!!
The Pink Floyd official channel just upload this same footage but with the original film negative. It's incredible the difference of the quality.
one of the top ten songs of p.floyd...and the solo 2
If Pink Floyd played in churches more often i'd actually go to them.
Dave “I’m gonna tune your bass for you in the middle of this set” Gilmour
Why I love the music so much it stays with you!
Stopped at this church, Abbaye de Royaumont, this summer and had long Floyd moment. Magic.
This it's beautiful 🖤☦
wow, david is channeling his older self in this song. i always wanted gilmour to sing this again
genial como siempre rick! tan fundamental en el sonido de floyd...
watta wonderful masterpiece..... i'm just playin on and on and on in this high times.... I can't believe the sound is so beautiful....
Truly superb.

My fav song of Pink Floyd along with Ibiza Bar and comfortably Numb.
Have to agree. More was very under appreciated
Such a Beautiful Song
Great to see good close ups of Rick! I saw them in 1972, incredible show.
Far Fuckin Out! so glad I found this, so glad you posted! Thanks!!
Great guitar solo and the camera is pointed at Rick the whole time. That makes tons of sense.
I love this version, is one of the best
listening to this over and over and over
David with his magical voice...
I love the sound of Rick's Organ on these early recordings.

This is Raw Pink Floyd 's music. Love it!

band of the world 💗
Oh how I agree with you. Life does pass so quickly. This is one of my favourite Floyd songs
Yeah! Pink Floyd as the church band. How I wish that would happen at my local church.
Que espectacular video no lo habia visto David genial en esta cancion!! Gracias por compartir!
AMAZING, JUST FUCKING AMAZING. THERE ARE NO OTHER HUMAN WORDS I CAN FIND WITHIN MYSELF TO EXPRESS THE MAJESTY OF THIS PERFORMANCE.
