Today we are installing a gt3582 copy onto my om603 powered Mercedes 300sdl. Super excited to see what the gt35 sounds and performs like, my stock turbo was very worn out. Yes this turbo is a little big for the engine, but this car is more about the looks and the sounds than going fast. I'm trying to make the engine bay look as crazy as I can and with this turbo setup taking up about a third of it, I think I'm off to a good start.
This is also the car that I installed the cheapest airbag suspension I could find on. So be sure to check out those videos so you get a good idea of what this project has been through.

Great work bud. I love these old Mercedes diesels. Without too much more work you can cap the stock cold side port on the intake and cut a hole in the front of the manifold, then throw a 90 right off the turbo and run it out to an inter cooler to keep those intake air temps down.

Pro tip for working with that shitty exhaust wrap, soak it in a bucket of water overnight and it doesn't flake off everywhere and stick in your skin when you use it.
You should try to fit the wastegate into that bend right before the turbo. Best flow to get it to open correctly. You want it so the exhaust gases are hitting the gate trying to open it before it flows to the turbo. Might want to check out GFB gofastbits out of AUS to get a lowpro wastegate maybe they will help you out with a sponsorship?!
I believe there is a more compact style than this still. Would have to contact them. gfb.com.au/products/wastegates/ex44-44mm-v-band-style-external-wastegate-detail/ also not sure what gate size you would need so this is just an example
Solid information, I think I'm still gonna put it under the pipe. I was gonna try and make a teardrop shape to easily divert the exhaust into it. If it has trouble I could go to a bigger gate (I have a 38mm emusa) or yeah maybe I'll put it on that bend and then have to cut another hole in the hood lol.
I recently bought an 87 300SDL and ended up here looking for some info on installing a bigger turbo. Funny we’ve got the same wheels too. Can’t bag it now or I feel I’ll be copying you lmao

I'm going to turn the ALDA so I can roll some coal but I can't really add any power unless I change the elements. I think I'm gonna start saving for the dieselpumpuk injection pump so I can make some power.

His 350sdl has been down for a while now.
I have the same car and do you know where that accordion thing is connected where the manifold is it’s a small 3 inch length pipe and it’s got a slice in it where there is exhaust leaking out of it would that slow my turbo down and take off it’ll go but it’s sluggish until I get On the highway then it flies I could be doing 70 give it and before you know what I’m hit 90 that accordion piece of flex pipe is right before the turbo on the manifold thank you
Depends on how big the exhaust leak is. Mine also had a crack there, it seems very common. I replaced it in my latest video i think. Car should still make boost but maybe not as much at lower rpms. Its tough to replace but i got a new flex piece on ebay for 25 bucks.
