I've been a metal fan for 20+ plus years. I'm extremely picky when it comes to down to it. I can jam to almost all sorts of metal and/or rock music, being a drummer myself. My go to band has been Lamb of God for many, many years. As the Palaces Burn, Ashes of the Wake, and Sacrament being, in my opinion, the best metal albums ever produced. But being a musician myself I always keep finding myself listening to Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders or even so far back as Dream Theater for their progressive style and technical prowess. Thank you so much Century Media for putting this concert on TH-cam. Tesseract is extremely underrated IMHO and one day people will realize just how great they really are ;)
I thought that only O'hara could sing Altered State. I'm truly astonished. Ashe has a voice that you cannot find anywhere else, but Dan is absolutely insane. Chapeau to both: they're exaggerately terrific.
I was very impressed with Dan absolutely nailing “Singularity”. He has a slightly lower range, but I’ve noticed that he’s better at singing completely in tune.
I had goosebumps through the whole Of Matter movement... needless to say Jay, Acle, James and Amos are doing their jobs with sheer perfection. And to top off, Dan is singing even Ashes songs with a passion you don't see very often. This is high quality musicianship.
Given the technicality of each of their songs, this has to be one of the best live performances ever recorded. Everyone was top notch, Dan's voice was silky smooth 'till the end, the drums are irreproachable, the bassist and the guitarist kick ass... The mixing is so bloody good every song sounds like the one from their CD.
The deep growls from Amos were so intense! TesseracT is really a so very passionate and skilled band, the feeling in every note, the performance, perfection. Needless to say the instruments were so damn in flow. Daniel really just killed it with his voice. He really has such a great range of possibilities and he does really cool variations and he also does that live. Please guys, promise me only one thing: always look up for yourselves, be safe, stay cool and keep on making passionate fucking music
This band is nothing short of spectacular. What a special special live performance. The atmosphere, the vibe... Incredible. Surreal. We all know what incredible musicians all these men are. Nothing needs to be added there. Its great to have Dan back! One of my favorite singers! That said, credit where its due, its impossible to say who's "better".. But my god.. The vocal parts Ashe wrote for the Altered State songs are just.. Mind blowing. They connect with you in the most gut wrenching way. The feels trip during Retrospect and Resist right now were nothing short of spiritual. What a special band. Cannot wait for album no.3!
Agreed! They have a very clear image of what they want artistically... Everything, from the compositions, the lyrics, the guitar tones, their logo, their album covers seem to be connected. This is one of the most unique and amazing bands on the planet.
Nederland Schaak Dan is phenomenal Ashe uses his voice like an instrument and can create some very intricate and unique harmonies, which is why I like Ashe a little more. But they both kill it and are my personal top two favourite vocalists!
Never heard a band sing so well in a live concert!! This right here is pure talent, no computers, no tricks, just talent, and this goes unrecognized completely!! Human mainstream stupidity knows no boundaries!!!
to be fair, everything they do live is computer based, they run the whole show from a computer. But they still play live and have proven to master their instruments. Using computers live is totally acceptable :)
No, they are running Steinberg Cubase throughout the show. Basically they are playing along to the studio version. Synths, extra guitars, harmony vocals, loops, all that stuff is from a laptop which is on the left side of the stage. I believe they also use it to program all the sound changes for the guitars (no pedal board dancing) and I'm assuming they run the light cues as well as they are so tightly synched up with the music.
Praise God for the youth of today carrying the torch and making REAL music!!!! These boys are on the top of my current recommendations for anyone with a brain. Live long and please prosper - and keep writing! - from an old fart who had the providence of growing up with "Kansas" (the band) in Topeka, Kansas (when first "Kansas" album was released) and who had the pleasure of opening for Dream Theater on their 1st album tour when they were the youth carrying the torch.
I got major goosebumps when Dan enters the scene at 1:33 with the hardest vocal passage on all of their albums to date and he nails it like a champ!! Beyond impressed at how good this sounds live.
This is awesome! Just finished watching the whole thing. Purely amazing. Dan hits almost every single note perfectly! Near flawless instrumentation from everyone else. This band kicks ass!
Greatest band to ever exist. Period. I’m not sure I’ve gone a single day in a year without listening to them. Dan and the crew are absolutely unreal. Cannot wait to see them live one day.
I've probably watched this two dozen times over the last week. These guys are so solid, and Dan is perfection live. Can't wait to see them in November!

And I hate to even enter the stupid Dan vs Ashe debate which is plaguing every Tesseract post on the internet but: No vocalist is absolutely perfect every show, especially when they push the limits as far as Tesseract does. Acle Kahney is an absolute genius of our age. This music is the most engaging, dramatic, heartwrenching, heartwarming music I've ever experienced. Can't wait to see you in February!
I'll just say this on Dan and Ashe as vocalists, and these are just my speculations and opinions: Ashe has a softness and silkyness in his voice that Dan does not and will never get. That quality is what I liked about Ashe on Altered State. It was a softer album in many ways, more produced, as well, which fit his voice. Ashe is a natural singer, born with that soulful voice, not a lot of training, if I was to guess. However, Dan has a more raw and brutal, sort of on the nose approach to singing, he holds on to the notes in a very captivating way (at least to me), his melodies are different than most, and of course, he screams, and god I loved his screaming on One. One is also a rawer album, there is less vocal layering, but it's also very hypnotic to me, the instrumental parts are just so good. These qualities are what I loved about One. I'm guessing Dan gained his vocal talents, which the man has in spades, no doubt about that, through training and experience. I'm thinking he had to fight and work his ass off to get his voice where he wanted it to be, which is how I feel you can differentiate between Ashe and Dan's approaches to singing, but I may be reading way too much into my own guesses and wild speculations. If it's not apparent, I like them both equally, for different reasons that I feel have as much merit as the other. Also, Dan's voice wasn't at his full range when this was recorded, so just know that he can do better than what is already pretty darn good here:)
@@twinny_mi It’s absolutely stellar. He really made it his own, in a great, great way. Plays around with it to suit his range and comfort, and still hits dem high notes. Can’t wait for new material from them, because man, what a singer, what a band!
I'm not very familiar with the singers that the band has had, could you tell me in what albums have singed one and the other? I've tried searching it but I didn't find anything. And your analysis was very interesting 💙
i don't know if i want to cry or laugh... This is completely amazing! They found the tesseract and i found it through them. This is an odyssey indeed! Salutes and greetings from Venezuela.
AWESOME PERFORMANCE! BRAVO!!! I know there are some Ashe's widows arround, and I respect them because Altered State it's such a perfect piece of art....but NO ONE can deny that Dan hits those high notes way better!! I mean... He can really hit 'em live! Amazing! P.S.: It would have been perfect having Eden on that setlist!! I need more than 1 hour of this perfection!!!
5:05 until 5:45 is just the best part of the whole concert for me. Such energy, such power in those notes, and such impeccable playing behind it. Love these guys.
i just saw them and honestly it still sounded similar to this. i believe they bring their own sound guy on the road because the sound was just so tight
cooliocaptin517 I don't doubt that they sound great live, but dry through a board with no other mixing would be ridiculous. I've been around enough audio production to recognize a well mixed sound when I hear one.
Animals as Leaders, Chon, Persefone, Behold... The Arctopus, Haken, Between the Buried and Me, There are literally tons of bands tighter than this band lol. They aren't very technical
+Keegan Alek Yeah, there are plenty of bands that play more technical riffs, but imo most of them lack the killer groove that Tesseract manages to pull off, even with all the polyrhythms they're playing over
It's been a month since i found these dudes and i cant stop listen them ...... Great drums guitars bass vocals !!!! Damn they are so fucking nice and different !!!!!
steelhorseclub I talked to someone who was there and he can assure that they sounded tight, but this mix definitely has some compressions added and has been mastered.
BLFilms View the full performance from the November 6th, 2014 show in London! Available on CD/DVD & LP/DVD! That is in the video description my friend, this was one show.
MrSharpShape No but in terms of the sound recording, each song is from a different gig: Odyssey (audio) Official Tracklisting 1. Singularity (recorded in Moscow, Russia) 2. Deception - Concealing Fate Part Two (recorded in Birmingham, UK) 3. The Impossible - Concealing Fate Part Three (recorded in Nottingham, UK) 4. Perfection/Epiphany - Concealing Fate Parts Four/Five (recorded in Rome, Italy) 5. Origin - Concealing Fate Part Six (recorded in Strasbourg, France) 6. Of Matter - Proxy (recorded in Koln, Germany) 7. Of Matter - Retrospect (recorded in Nijmegen, Netherlands) 8. Of Matter - Resist (recorded in Budapest, Hungary) 9. April (recorded in Paris, France) 10. Nocturne (recorded in Manchester, UK) 11. Acceptance - Concealing Fate Part One (recorded in Moscow, Russia)
BLFilms The site indicates that the CD/LP (Odyssey) was indeed recorded on different locations, but the DVD (Scala) was live from a single show. Having just listened to my vinyl I can say the mastering/recording is not the exact same as the DVD. But both are awesomeness.
I loved Altered State for that reason. The whole album has like you said "almost spiritual" undertones throughout. Almost like an ominous warning of something. Beautiful.
the 'of matter' saga is something which is meant to be felt from your heart through your soul, all the technicality and tones go for a toss while analyzing such songs!!
Easily one of the most underrated drummers in the genre.
I agree. I think Postones is one of the best I've heard/seen in a long time. Obviously a guy who loves his job. :)
+Str8Faced So true. Every note and beat has its purpose, but also chock full of raw emotion and power.
+Str8Faced By far my favourite drummer of all time. I just love how it is so obvious that he is having a fucking blast doing what he loves, not taking himself too seriously and all that like some others.

Well, get used to it, bitch.
Nullll1111 ? Dude. What’s wrong with you? 😂 calm down
he screamed since 2010 what are you talking about? he growled nascent on every live i saw
Everything about this band is perfection! Tesseract for life!!
Just saw them on Tuesday. F*cking fantastic.
This is the Tesseract that keeps my attention for an hour, Dan is so on point and brings something truly unique on stage. Flawless victory!
I love the way this is shot. Rather than focusing on band members it focuses on creating a suitable atmosphere for the show
00:30 Singularity
06:10 Deception
12:19 The Impossible
17:28 Perfection
20:05 Epiphany
21:50 Origin
27:30 Proxy
32:34 Retrospect
38:15 Resist
42:20 April
48:02 Nocturne
53:10 Acceptance
just seen tesseract and gojira last night. good times...
Watched this thing about 7 times or so by now, it never stops blowing my mind
24:13. A#5. Incredible.
Somebody deleted their comment saying that there was no chord there. To be clear, I was referring to the note A#5, not the chord A#5.
thats one place I gotta say that Dan beats Ashe... that falsetto
This is the singer thats on Polaris, right?
Yup, Dan. He was in One as well.
@@awol.oper8r hmmm, earthside: a dream in static, cough cough.
The brilliance cannot be understated. One of the best and most important bands in the genre making music today. Thank you for this!
I don't know what the fuck Dan was doing at 35:38 but it turned into something fucking beautiful before I could think anything else.
i don't know if i want to cry or laugh...
That’s beautiful. Switching between hard and soft parts makes it absolutely amazing 🤙
TESSERACT??
More like Treasure Act!!!
+Michiel Vanderheyden Hahahaa oh my god dude that is the greatest
Fucking nice.
I was there and i must say they really were that tight, tesseract are a phenomenal band
Still here in 2020 \m/
This is simply one of the best concerts I've ever heard. Wish I was there.
*while I sit on the TH-cam homepage* "Fuck, I forgot to watch Odyssey/Scala today."
5:05 until 5:45 is just the best part of the whole concert for me. Such energy, such power in those notes, and such impeccable playing behind it. Love these guys.
That final with Dan embracing people is priceless
In all my years as a guitarist/musician, I can finally see a presence that blends the fruits of the universe
I can't WAIT to see them and Skyharbor in November. Holy FUCK my dream come true. That is going to be an unforgettable night.
The quality of this is amazing! Tesseract!! I don’t know what I would do without this band!!
Dan Tompkins...The one true vocalist of Tesseract.
WHAAAAT THIS IS NEXT LEVEL. Dan's singing is ridiculous! can tell hes had training. And as a drummer I am always blown away by Jay's skill.
Thank god that music is not dead.
Pretty sure music is around to stay.
Saw this set live 5 years ago, watched this video dozens of times after it released, and yet i still feel the urge to come back. This is incredible.
The production on this live recording is insane, but at the same time I know its live, cause they are just that fucking good.
The sound has been mixed and mastered post production. This is how all modern audio dvd's are done.
i just saw them and honestly it still sounded similar to this. i believe they bring their own sound guy on the road because the sound was just so tight
although from what i remember, the drums weren't this present. this video has them turned way up, specifically the snare
ryanexsus Nah they sound like this live. I've seen them. Damn fine show
cooliocaptin517
I don't doubt that they sound great live, but dry through a board with no other mixing would be ridiculous. I've been around enough audio production to recognize a well mixed sound when I hear one.
Fucking perfect. This performance had me in tears.
Seriously the best band around right now.
I don't think a tighter band exists omgah
chon is equally as tight
meshuggah?
Animals as Leaders, Chon, Persefone, Behold... The Arctopus, Haken, Between the Buried and Me, There are literally tons of bands tighter than this band lol. They aren't very technical
+Keegan Alek Yeah, there are plenty of bands that play more technical riffs, but imo most of them lack the killer groove that Tesseract manages to pull off, even with all the polyrhythms they're playing over
Yeah, lotsa tight bands brah
Just discovered this band a few days ago. Have been obsessed with their tracks. Amazing music, beautiful vocals, perfect performance!
This world dont deserve TesseracT amidst us :) #respect #respect #respect
I feel your music deep in my heart... I hope you to come to Chile. I will always be amazed with your songs. God bless you folks
singularity was absurdly perfect
its better than the album version in my opinion!
Ayrton Anjos just wished they played the full song. Otherwise it's an amazing performance.
What are you saying? Was not even complete. It disappointed me big time. :(
Amazing performance! Dan nailed the altered state material by making it his own, instead of trying to imitate Ash...thanks CMR for the share
that as a live vocal is incredible
Both this performance and film are masterpieces. Awesome
So fucking glad to see Daniel Tompkins back. "One" was perfection
I agree dude, most people say they prefer Ashe
He's not bad, but Daniel is better for the Band, they look more conected
Milton Mendoza I think their both good, but as shown here Dan has more control over his vocals.
Milton Mendoza thats because "most" people discovered tesseract when altered state came out.....One is better and so is Dan!
Good point Debby DePrati
It's been a month since i found these dudes and i cant stop listen them ......
Great drums guitars bass vocals !!!! Damn they are so fucking nice and different !!!!!
This was recorded Live!? Holy djent Batman, that's tight!
steelhorseclub I talked to someone who was there and he can assure that they sounded tight, but this mix definitely has some compressions added and has been mastered.
steelhorseclub Each song is actually from a different gig
BLFilms View the full performance from the November 6th, 2014 show in London! Available on CD/DVD & LP/DVD! That is in the video description my friend, this was one show.
MrSharpShape No but in terms of the sound recording, each song is from a different gig: Odyssey (audio)

BLFilms The site indicates that the CD/LP (Odyssey) was indeed recorded on different locations, but the DVD (Scala) was live from a single show. Having just listened to my vinyl I can say the mastering/recording is not the exact same as the DVD. But both are awesomeness.
I watch this concert 2/3 times a day...amazing!
The feels are real.
World class.. I can't get enough of them!
He nailed April so damn much
Perfection was... Perfect. One of my favorites, and you did it justice. Thank you so much, guys.
Fantastic performance!
I love the laugh of pure bliss at 38:03
Awesome :) Right into my FULL CONCERTS playlist. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!
10:21 "God, why am i here?"
+Juan Caicedo I love when Amos goes up to the front row to groove!
He was singing along later in the video!!
this is why this band is number 1 in my book. musically perfect
Resist feels almost spiritual.
I loved Altered State for that reason. The whole album has like you said "almost spiritual" undertones throughout. Almost like an ominous warning of something. Beautiful.
***** Agree, although I think the second half of Perfection (after 18:57) is even more intense, I was a bit surprised by that :)
Meh he didn't really do the song justice in my opinion
I was thinking the same thin
And I love dan don't get me wrong I just think he didn't do the best job on that song
the 'of matter' saga is something which is meant to be felt from your heart through your soul, all the technicality and tones go for a toss while analyzing such songs!!
I have to pee really bad, but I can't bring myself to pause the music so that I can get up and go pee.
And at that moment 3 years apart, we shared something special
@@kai_bittner I connected with both of you
I keep returning to this show this awesome!
39:30
in this moment, the creature known as danashe was born.
DAN’ASH sounds like a kickass arachnid boss from Diablo haha
omg can u feel the symmetry, i saw daniel in adl almost fainted the boys were in point !!!!!!!
