I got a 1982 Citizen Eagle 7 serviced and keeping absolutely good time. Better than what i expected, with 2 secs in a day. I guess older versions of 8200 calibers are superior to most Seiko movements i have had in a decade.
Hi Adam, I'm going to have to do a video about the fact that many comments aren't showing up in my notifications for some reason - I had no idea that you had left this comment, so I apologise for replying so late. Best of luck with the watches and let me know how it goes. The vintage stuff can be a minefield, but the rewards can more than justify the risk - and you just gave a great example of that, getting a small collection for less than the price of one modern entry-level watch! Best regards, Robert
Hi on the back of my watch it says 4-281080 kt 011012 70 gn-4w-s 71-2591, but this is on every old Citizen, want to know from which year it comes, and which model it is
I had a citizen manuel watch with silver dail lumed numbers and date it had a large thick face and wa all brushed stainless steel. The band or bracelet was like new but l have never seen one like it since. It was quite a heavy piece never missed a beat. I believe over. 500.oo was paid for it in 1974. What would it be worth today.?
respected what does that coat of arms mean in the clock? that plow or what? why do some citizen watches have that coat of arms and some don’t? for what reason ?
Hello WR. Thanks for the video. Good luck with the channel. Your philosophy is good. I recently pulled out an old citizen auto circa 1985. 36 mm. Good size really. It probably hasn't run or been worn for 20 to 25 years. Runs fine. Citizen is an underrated brand. The miyota movement is a good workhorse. May put it on a strap. Or it my go on eBay. Also in the box was an old 34mm swatch. Marked AG 1999. Not sure if this was my brothers but going to check and the references. Waiting for a battery to see if it runs. Ps imo , and I suspect you put a lot of work into it, so creeds for that but I feel your intro is too long. I think Federico short or James on iktw, straight in is a better start.
Hi, thanks for your kind comment. You're 100% right about the intro. I had to make it long so the music didn't cut off at a weird point - the current tune's just the first acceptable thing I could find in TH-cam's selection, I'm still looking for something that suits a shorter intro. I have no photography, video or audio skills whatsoever, so this whole thing's a work in progress, but a shorter intro will definitely be coming soon. Both of your watches sound interesting - Swatch is one of the few brands that I don't have any personal experience with, but I've seen some nice ones on other people's channels, and I'll probably pick one up at some point. Cheers! Robert
excellent video! I have a few older eco-drives but now I want to start collecting automatics. if I may ask, have you had any servicing done on the Citizen automatics? Have there been any major (or common) repair issues that you have encountered?
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! No, I haven't had any servicing done on the automatics, and they are all still running well. The only repair issue would be that I should really have the crystal on the small grey watch replaced, but I never remember to get around to it. It's not the original, and whoever fitted it chipped it and glued it in ineptly. Apart from that, I haven't had problems with any of them. I have many high-quality modern eco-drives and I love some of these watches just as much as those - and you can't beat the value in them. In their day, the Eagle 7s shown in this video had roughly the same place in the Citizen range, and played the same role, as an eco-drive that would cost a few hundred pounds today does, and yet you can eBay them for next to nothing, still running perfectly well. You can literally have a whole collection of these for the price of one good modern Citizen or Seiko, especially if you don't mind the ones with repainted dials. If that isn't value, I don't know what is. Thanks for watching, Best regards, Robert
@@wristwatchreflections7356 do you have a link for the replacement crystal ? Or even know what size it should be ? I too have to replace my crystal on my piece that I’ve recently bought and looking for a bit of a help Thanks in advance and nice watches
I believe, on the same class or level (say Seiko 5 with it's 7s26, 7009 etc compared with Citizen Eagle 7 with it's 8200, 6501 etc) Citizen is better. The automatic has manual winding feature that Seiko has not. It is a big plus. What lack in Citizen probably is the design. It is too boring for my taste while Seiko is classy and elegant. Vintage Citizen also has bad quality of bracelet too although the case is okay. I wear a vintage 1971 Citizen Cal. 6501 daily. Sometimes abused it (drop it, washing it etc :D ) and mostly I do workout (running, jogging, martial art etc) with it, and it is still robust. I think vintage Citizen is underrated.
I'm sure it's hard to let it go, but you can find many watches like these for next to nothing, so you can still have a citizen of some kind. Best of luck! Thanks for watching, Best regards, Robert

I bought three vintage citizens and two Seikos for like $120 the other day. They all have leather straps and they will be here in about a month.

Why some Citizens have double sign on the dial ?, it’s a small sign on the bottom of dial
How much would a 1963 New Master hand wound citizen watch cost now? Please give me an guesstimate... Thank you..
Hello, I would like to buy a 1974 Citizen Vintage Miyota caliber 8200A. The clock is running. Is it worth buying? Would the watch last a long time?
A vintage watch is a big gamble. Buy only if the price is low.

Where did you get that green leather bracelet?
It was on eBay a long time ago. If I can find the link to the seller's page, I'll pass it on to you. Thanks for watching!

Very good points, and people should certainly check out both Seiko and Citizen in the vintage market!
