    Reinforcement was always a head ache for me. But after I learned from your videos, I accurately calculated the steel for the pile foundation of my house, Yesterday pile cap and today beams. Now I will calculate columns and slabs also slowly. All this without depending on any civil engineer (I am electrical engineer!). Thanks a lot for this dear Mukesh!

    Stirrups are basically given to resist shear and vibration effect, not for resisting bending moment. So zone a and zone b are made according to the distribution of shear force in the beam...zone a is high shear zone so more stirrups are placed there and zone b consist less shear and more bending moment so optimum number of stirrups are there.

  • @rajeebshakya2821

    I think the reason the stirrups are closely spaced at supports is because there is more shear force acting near the supports and it's not because for the higher moments at the supports as you say in this video at 8:35 mins .

    • @durgasaggurthi6398
      @durgasaggurthi6398 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rajeeb Shakya yaa maximum shear force at ends... And due to max shear force diagonal cracks will develop so that we have to provide stirrups diagonally but that is difficult to provide stirrups too diagonally so that we provide stirrups vertically and closely spaced....

    Sir, you have an excellent way of teaching but on some topics, you also have to clear your doubts like the clear, nominal and effective cover. Clear and nominal cover both are the same thing and effective cover is clear cover+half dia of bar.

    very informative. Good job. Just one error . In beam bending moment is minimum at the end points and max at the centre. Increase in number of stirrups is due to increase of shear force at the ends not the bending moment. 8:50 min

    Sir,
    Being a civil engineer seeing your videos brought ease in my calculations.I have seen BBS of beam and it's two example and I have doubt which I have mentioned below--
    1. Why lapping of bottom extra is provided at column whereas for top EOS it's done in beam?
    Thanking you in advance.

    Vertical stirrups are used for shear force, main reinforcement bars are used for resisting bending moment.. Shear force is maximum at the supports and minimum at the centre, so we provide more stirrups near the support region and minimum in the centre region..that's why less spacing is provided near supports and maximum spacing at the centre for stirrups
