I just flashed the nightly CM12 updates on my HTC One M7 and everything about it is much better than the Sense variant. Battery, storage, performance, it's super smooth and a perfect experience for me. It's like the GPE but better.
CM12S is coming out, it's already in QA and should be here in March as well. They split, but only for future phones. The Oneplus One will still get updates for 2 years.
Yeah, was just about to post this. I recently just got a update for CM11 etc. They are less frequent now due to less needing updating and more focus on CM12! :)
Of course, 12S was supposed to be here in early February, according to Steve Kondik, but Carl Pei is now saying mid to late March. Basically, we should have the update by June.
Could you make a video on oxygen os vs CyanogenMod 12 (latest version)? -thanks. What are you guys choosing, not sure which one to download. Con and pros of both? Thanks.
Oxygen OS is well, 4K videos are disabled (so it's 1080p only) and I couldn't shoot in Slow motion, but I can shoot in raw... Just use CyanogenMod 12S or 13 if you want to use it for photography. I got my phone in Oxygen OS and changed the OS 1 day after I got it.
I've tried it and it is stable. Only downside is a music bug where you get buzzing when using poweramp or spotify. And also battery life although good, is worse than cm11s
Ordered my OnePlus One last Tuesday and it'll be arriving today. This video makes me want to install CM 12 sooner rather than later. I originally planned to stay on 11 S.
I'm perfectly happy with my OPO, had it for like 3-4 months and I'm not gonna upgrade in like 2 years. The battery life on my usage is 3-5 days and it's very snappy. Love it.
And update for the OnePlus only came out a few weeks ago, and my understanding is, going forward even though OnePlus is developing their own operating system. CyanogenMod signed a deal with one OnePlus to maintain the operating system for two years, and they're holding to that deal. If I'm wrong then please correct me.
I too am getting impatient for the Android 5 to come via conventional methods for my OnePlus One. Normally in recent times I have moved away from Rooting my phones, but as this my secondary device.... Cyanogen Mod here I come.
Perrin Alexander Originally I didn't want to root my OnePlus, and went a whole two months without it being rooted. If helium backup wasn't so frustrating to use I would not have rooted my phone. But I did so just for titanium backup, and xposed framework. In all honesty I can wait for lollipop.
Franklin Joseph Ambo as we talking I'm rooting my OPO ( well backing up to be precise) Lollipop is great, I am running it in my Nexus 6 and NVIDIA Shield Tablet so I might as well go for the clean sweep on this device, plus is the having to change the way I do things when on the OPO having come from one of the other devices.
Yes, Cyanogen has reaffirmed it's position saying that they will continue to support the OnePlus One. Lollipop has been delayed since the verification process is taking a while to get back from Google. The update will be released sometime in March.
Ma nigga mkbhd have almost 2.5 mill subscribers. That's insane. What surprise me it's that he doesn't run no ads in the middle of his videos. True geeky
i unsubscribe from anyone that puts an ad in the middle of the video. I can deal with ads at the start or the end, but advertising a shaver or something unrelated during a phone review is just not right.
OnePlus One is the best Android phone to get right now. ever since i used it, i've never found a reason to root it...knowing i always root then unroot for stock on my Nexus devices. Plus the specs just complete the awesome user experience.
I always enjoy your reviews the most out of anyone else, back in the day it was up to Cnet so thank you! I was debating whether I should wait or not to put CM12 however your video has convinced me. Thanks again
In the case of a Mac, Apple made both the hardware and software, so the OS is Apple's fault. In the case of a OnePlus One, the OS is made by Cyanogen while the hardware is made by OnePlus. So there's no point in defending OnePlus when 2K never said anything about it.
Awesome video Marques! Cm12 is pretty darn stable nowadays. I've used cm12 on my oneplus one since December, it was really buggy back then.. But it has been really stable since a month or so. Great timing for your video! Loved it. And since you are rooted, custom rom and kernel I can reaaaaaallllly recommend to scale things a bit down. Make use of that 5.5" beauty with a lower DPI!
Yah. i use blisspop rom on my oneplus one. Its a fantastic phone experience. This is the smartest decision i have ever made buying oneplus one over nexus 6.
Flashing custom roms is one of my most favorite things about Android. I've flashed my Nexus 4 with 6 different roms at one point just to test them out and it was super fun. I've always loved Cyanogenmod and now since seeing this video I think I'm going to go ahead and put it on my stock Android 5 Nexus 5. Thanks ***** :D.
Jahed Shakoory www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/2ili8a/invite_giveaway_megathread/?sort=new Refresh it a few times and you will have one in no time. But do remember that it's tuesday so you can buy it without an invite.
I flashed CM12 on my OnePlus One, but switched back to stock after 3-4 days due to the average battery life. I couldn't get more than 2-3 hours of SOT, and stock could easily manage 4. Any suggestions as to how to improve the battery life? Does flashing the 44s modem make a difference?
thank you very much for showing this, got the OPO since August and was very pleased by the updates. now they're gone, need something new, you showed us! funny part is, thanks to a design pack, my ui looked like lollipop for the last 4 months but obviously still ran 4.4.4... not anymore, harhar
I'd just like to take the time and comment something that has happened. This is the first video I've ever watched in 1080p without buffering. I think it's a sign if the apocalypse... Or that Australia's internet is getting better. A real big milestone in my life and I'm glad to say it was on an MKBHD video. Thank you all.
I believe the bug with the lock screen gestures activating in your pocket has been fixed a long time ago & also you can order a OPO without an invite every Tuesday, all day long, 24 hours (I know you mentioned it at the end) :) Aaand nice video as always!
I've been using CM12 nightlies on my Nexus 4 and it's very fast and stable and finally Android doesn't look like a trainwreck. Never cared about the OnePlus One. The invite thing bugged me by default and the low price for the hardware made me suspicious. I got to examine one for a bit and I wasn't surprised to feel how dodgy the device really was.
Hey, I recently found your channel and so far it's been amazing! I had seen you on an Austin Evan's video. Keep up the informative and amazing work! You've got a subscriber.
Yes, but Cabinet is still in Beta and at least on my M8 you notice that. It has slowdowns, simply cannot copy files from time to time, shows wrong information (-2 files in folder) and has some folder color bugs :) My favourite is definitely Root Browser, it's fast, efficient, has a lot of functions, looks decent and very organized and simply works best for me :)
I got CM12 on my Galaxy Note 2 - it's a fucking nightmare. How many YEARS will it take CM to sort out radio and Bluetooth issues? I swear, since the days of the Galaxy S1 it's had problems and STILL has problems.
Lol I was thinking till now that 5GHz only working in WiFi 5 standards .. 😅 but how did you have in 7 years ago...and why most of phones and other alike devices don't support... 😅??
Love seeing my black brothers being intelligent and informative on this here technology stuff. But seriously its good to see my people do positive things, you have a great channel and I always look forward to seeing your new uploads.
Amazing video Marquees, may try it on my One+ but apart from the lollipop in the background, there is not a mega upgrade elsewhere further from 11S (or maybe its just me). Either way March is not far at all and I cannot wait to see how Oxygen OS turns out. Thumbs up from me :) P.S. did anyone else notice a slight scratch at 3:30 in the top right hand corner?
Margues I enjoy your reviews/channel, thanks for putting out great videos! On a side note, could you please do some reviews on Dash Cams? Really interested in getting one for my truck.
I'm glad to see that one plusone still has the solid buttons on the bottom. I never did like the on screen buttons as they don't seem as response and they take up screen space. I know it's not so tall that screen size is is noticeably smaller. And the lag may just be in my head. Idk. I guess I just never grew past the solid buttons on the bottoms.
4:47 does anyone know if you can do this on a rooted phone? I'm think you can but can somebody tell me the name of the module if there is one. Thank you!
I think it's worth mentioning that this is a cm12 NIGHTLY (a stable version hasn't been released yet).. So if you install this, don't be surprised if it's a little buggy
I still like my Nexus 6. Really don't need Roms for it. Its good the way it is. I can't believe I overlooked this video. Lol keep it up dude. Great info
i'm an IT guy, and i work from pretty far place to another all the time. so having a reliable phone battery able to contact my collagues quickly really needed. having android for almost 2 years, and it's fails me on reliable aspect, the apps are shaky, sometimes connection is not geting data, the phone litelary boiling when i'm calling for over 15 minutes, the battery sometimes give me 5-7 hours a day (barely enough) and sometime it's just plain 3 hours. the phone sometimes throtling for no reason and burns the battery.. don't get me wrong, i love android and it's folder based storage, it's serve me pretty well for the first year or so, the customization are nice, tinkering around with ROM, Kernel, overclocking and hacking the app, heck you can even make your phone almost full auto on android... while it's good and fun, i don't really need it... i just realize that i only need a reliable phone that "work" and apple PROBABLY got that with their iphone, so i'm geting cheap iphone 5 (real cheap) that just work... wish me luck.... As far as I remember, cyanogen will update the oneplus to 12 officially and oxygen is being developed with Paranoid Android to avoid this confusion in the future.
I wanted the one plus one but, I don't anymore. He was right when he said, some will still always want it, and some will lose interest. He is pretty smart.
Correction: CyanogenMod 12S is still coming to the OnePlus One mid-March. Oxygen OS will also come out around mid-March (around the same time). Oxygen OS will be flash only, will not come OTA (it won't come through Software Updates, but CyanogenMod 12s will.) Also, while CyanogenMod 12S support will last two years from the launch of the phone, Oxygen OS will have an additional two years support, starting on the day it is available.
Looks like the microphone gain is bit too high. The LEDs goes all the way up to red. Adjust the volume in post instead, there probably won't be any noticeable noise. Interesting (*cue remix video*) content as always Marques.
Cm 12 actually does come with root out the box... You just need to enable it in developer settings. And thanks for mentioning Franco kernel, thanks to you he's updated it again after a long while.
The animations may appear faster because if you go in developer options, you can change system animation speed. Maybe cyanogenmod's defaults are different than what's on the Nexus 6.
Cyanogen and Oneplus did have their quarrel but Cyanogen is still developing CM12S for the 1+1, so Oxygen is not the only lollipop rom coming for this device
This makes me want to get the OnePlus One! My iPhone 5s experience (aside from the camera) makes me really miss Android.
.
@@exelr8ight369 .
Oh the good old times, now even OxygenOS is getting replaced.
Phones are getting too thin. To the point they are feeling cheap. I wish manufacturers would make them a little bigger and add more battery
I wish you would shut up, I really do.
Droid Turbo. Thick and big battery
Frank Lampard Aight you go bend your phone when its in your pocket. Ydy
My 1+1 lasts 2-3 days for me.
Frank Lampard I bet the only phone you've ever owned was an iPhone, innit?

Wrong - it will get updates for 2 years FROM initial release date; not 2 years from now. Huge difference.
Milorad Jovanovic that's exactly what I meant.
Could you make a video on oxygen os vs CyanogenMod 12 (latest version)? -thanks. What are you guys choosing, not sure which one to download. Con and pros of both? Thanks.
I've been wondering the same thing!
Abe Massri When I get the OnePlus One I'll be installing OxygenOS because it's built for the One.
Abe Massri I've used both and I can tell you CM12 is definitely better and more refined. Way less issues
Looks super stable, great video!
I need to flash this right now na na
No one is doing a paranoid android video :(
Nathaniel James True, might be an opportunity for me to do it!
What's the risk of bricking the phone? I've never done this and I'm afraid to completely screw my phone ...

So with this recent fallout, is the One Plus 1 still worth the purchase?
Well not now 😂
Ordered mine last night, I've never been more excited!
I have a OnePlus one but am I the only who prefers the dark theme of kitkat or CyanogenMod 11s? I hate the white app drawer and white settings menu...
Same ,everything else I like
Try Nicholas's dark theme
Deleon McFly link?
Sorry for the late reply play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chummy.jezebel.material.dark&hl=en
same here :D
your video reviews are among the best I've ever seen, keep up the good work man!

it is very easy to buy, i got like 3 invites in 5 minutes from reddit and treir own forums...
Yeah, people are just lazy.
Wait how can u link pls

Try SaberMod CM12 on XDA. It's fast and is based off CM12 I can get about 5-6 hours SOT without Franco so
***** Stable enough to be used as a daily driver?
***** how stable?
Lemon Beast it's pretty stable actually. Except for some audio things and regular 4k recording. 4k dci works fine however
I'd be worried about both those screen on times since most of us on cm12 average 6 hours or more.
thank you very much for showing this, got the OPO since August and was very pleased by the updates. now they're gone, need something new, you showed us! funny part is, thanks to a design pack, my ui looked like lollipop for the last 4 months but obviously still ran 4.4.4... not anymore, harhar

I broke my one plus screen and now the touch dosent work. I will send it for repair this week.

Rokcing CM12 on my trustworthy I9300. It's so cool to see people still support these older phones, which are still good enough.
Perfect Timing. Just rooted the device and your notification pops up. Now I know which ROM to download. Thanks ! :)
I do refresh the look of my OPO every few months and it does feel fresh every time I do it. You slowly get towards the perfect layout and UI.
"'Cause I'm your type
If you got the wrong impression
Girl not for long"
Awesome vid, still loving my OPO!
I am watching video on 4K first time on my new computer. HOLY SHIT!!! It looks soooo good. Anyway good video Marques. :)
Thanks for another great video. I'm curious as to why I haven't seen Mr. Brownlee wearing his Moto 360 lately.
I'd just like to take the time and comment something that has happened. This is the first video I've ever watched in 1080p without buffering. I think it's a sign if the apocalypse... Or that Australia's internet is getting better.
A real big milestone in my life and I'm glad to say it was on an MKBHD video.
Thank you all.

i love your channel mkbhd! Keep it up
Goddamit Marques! Surprising me and making me excited for a new video like that! *****
Nice video like always! As an aspiring developer I'm happy to hear about android kernel development and cyanogen. Cyanogen and Franco FOR THE WIN!!
At last you have spit out something super awesome in your channel.....
Thanks for all your videos , my friend. They're brilliant !
shoutout to the speaker volume thing in the back goes up whenever MKBHD is talking!!
I believe the bug with the lock screen gestures activating in your pocket has been fixed a long time ago & also you can order a OPO without an invite every Tuesday, all day long, 24 hours (I know you mentioned it at the end) :)
Aaand nice video as always!
This was the death of Cyanogen Mod and the birth of Oxygen OS. Damn, can't believe how things turn around.
Shout out to everyone else who says "Hey what is up guys MKBHD here" perfectly in sync every video
Am I the only one who gets a feeling like a tv series finale when his video is about to end!
If only it could be a little longer :p
I've been using CM12 nightlies on my Nexus 4 and it's very fast and stable and finally Android doesn't look like a trainwreck.
Never cared about the OnePlus One. The invite thing bugged me by default and the low price for the hardware made me suspicious. I got to examine one for a bit and I wasn't surprised to feel how dodgy the device really was.
Hey, I recently found your channel and so far it's been amazing! I had seen you on an Austin Evan's video. Keep up the informative and amazing work! You've got a subscriber.
I enjoy watching the leds of the audio monitoring your voice :D (That thing behind you)
It's amazing how this phone stays fresh compared to other more commercial flagships like a Galaxy.
New microphone? Your audio sounds awesome!
1+1 is still a beast and will be for a couple more years, I would think.
Now that MKBHD says the combo is good. Everyone will follow that trend. :)
The option of launching something from screen off by drawing a sign is amazing
This video is the reason why I install L on my OnePlus today! Cheers!
Very nice upload as usual. I think it's time for you to change your intro (the music at least) and the way you start your videos.
waited for this video all day since i saw it on snapchat!
That included file manager is so ugly. Cabinet Beta is the best one out there.
***** agreed. Pretty to look at but not that functional. The best FE is defiantly ES file explorer.
***** Ive found solid explorer to be quite good as well
Yes, but Cabinet is still in Beta and at least on my M8 you notice that. It has slowdowns, simply cannot copy files from time to time, shows wrong information (-2 files in folder) and has some folder color bugs :)
My favourite is definitely Root Browser, it's fast, efficient, has a lot of functions, looks decent and very organized and simply works best for me :)
Yeah, ES File Explorer has to be the best. Looks great, works great, tons of functionality.
mi explorer beats cabinet beta. Cabinet beta is so overrated cos it has materila design
Now OP and CM are working together
I love you more than you can know Marques.
I got CM12 on my Galaxy Note 2 - it's a fucking nightmare.
How many YEARS will it take CM to sort out radio and Bluetooth issues?

I'm glad ***** will be going to Barcelona Spain for the 2015 MWC, can't wait for all your coverage

Good ole days
Everytime i watch a Marques browlee video, i get the sudden disire to buy an android!, i... must... resist.
Nice! Love my one+ The audio shutter seems to be getting better as you update your ROM..well for me at least.
I still like my Nexus 6. Really don't need Roms for it. Its good the way it is. I can't believe I overlooked this video. Lol keep it up dude. Great info

Can you flash the Sharp Aquos Crystal??

By the way, why won't this video work when safety mode is enabled?

Desperately needed- Review of Dell XPS13 (2015 edition)
MKBHD, Maybe you didn't know but Cyanogenmod 12S will still come out.
Correction: CyanogenMod 12S is still coming to the OnePlus One mid-March.
Oxygen OS will also come out around mid-March (around the same time).
Oxygen OS will be flash only, will not come OTA (it won't come through Software Updates, but CyanogenMod 12s will.)
Also, while CyanogenMod 12S support will last two years from the launch of the phone, Oxygen OS will have an additional two years support, starting on the day it is available.
