Killing Joke live à L'Hammersmith Palais diffusé en 1982 dans l'émission Megahertz présentée par Alain Maneval. Killing Joke at the Hammersmith Palais in 1982 only 6 songs were broadcasted by the french TV.
This is how I remember the Joke the first time I saw them around 82 at Cardiff Top Rank and I have never been able to exorcise them completely from my memory since!
When Empire song 1st released is the 1st time i see K.J. previously i had mainly seen bands like Hawkwind. When K.J. came on stage it was total mayhem & blew me away, i then proceeded to see them for the next 35 yrs. Awesome🎵🎼👍
It's so amazing to see high quality footage with youth and see the band at their early peak before Jaz became a parody of himself just beauty and intensity and madness.
Loved KILLING JOKE back in these early days. I saw them in Barrie, Ontario in the early 80's in the middle of the day at an event like this. On a sunny day they pulled off a great set, shocking many who had come to see the Go-Go's and lighter fare. Iggy Pop played a great set too. The energy these guys injected into a crowd was intense. Not so sure everybody appreciated/understood their music. That show made me a KJ fan for life.
This is when Killing Joke were simply the best band of all time, it's not about musicianship , it's about the pure excitement & frenzy the band whipped the audience in, they may still exist but it's not the same (I agree with Jora)
Thatcher in power, mass unemployment , unrest and riots, and the cold war. I guess the government sending out Protect And Survive leaflets to every home in the UK advising you on how you could "survive" a nuclear war helped to create a doomy and gloomy atmosphere!

Thanks for upload ....i didn't know Youth played any of the 'Revelations' tracks live before Jaz 'went to Iceland ' ( unless kj played those on the 'delayed 81 tour' ?)
Saw them first on "The Tube" playing "Empire Song" and such was the impression that they made, I bought the follow up Album "Revelations" with my hard earned but meagre cash! I then bought their earlier single, "Follow the leaders!" And that was that?
I prefer the original, primitive and raw Killing Joke and Jaz Coleman to the heavier but more sophisticated and refined model today. I just wish Jaz would shave off that classical composer's mane and get back to basics!
What happened to the clip with Killing Joke singing Empire Song on Top of the pops in 1982. I used to pick the clip on my IPad, now it's disappeared. Please bring it back!
God that Punk crowd looked like a tribal army ... the difference with Punk and Rave was one 1 was natural and the other too drug infused but shame Punk died after that
My GOD Big Paul Fergusons Drumming is so intense, he should be inducked in into the Greatest Drummers Hall Of Fame. LEGEND

Cool to see the crowd having fun. It's all about posing and holding damn cameras high these days.
Brilliant video of a live gig, all the excitement and mayhem. Thanks for posting these.

Superbe! Merci!
Ha Ha Ha.....love it!!!
Jaded punk rock! What a great band.
Great Stuff from the Eighties was very limited! Killing Joke fought against the sublime acceptance of that decade! ;-)
RIP geordie
the essence of Punk!
I just love all the doom and gloom of the 80s! Can someone explain why the era was so dark back then?

Didn't say it was any better. And there were ignorant racists back then just as there obviously are now.
Pending Nuclear War
@@Morphstock Pretty much summed it up for me although you can't please everyone, eh Chris!

Z Buckridan, yes that is the one.
Unfiltered Fury!

Have you heard "I Am the Virus?"

Was that the one when Paul Ferguson sang because Jaz buggered off to Iceland?
Z Buckridan Yes! They improvised with some guy dressed up in a beekeeper's outfit playing keyboards with drummer Paul miming the words!
Nevertheless, that was the song that made me aware of this unique band called Killing Joke!
But why get rid of the clip as it was one of the few end of Punk eras tunes...same as Punkabilly King Kurt Destination Zululand
