@@AthelstanEngland ...i guess strictly 'the editor' is to blame ...the basic video/camerawork coverage is fine...the Clash didn't need visual enhancement at the time - watch the Munich '77 footage ,or the live stuff from 'Rude Boy' a backdrop & a couple of camera angles...but the fit inducing 'zoom in & out' style that appeared in the late 60s (usually to make a drum or keyboard solo 'exciting ') was unfortunately still in use.
Imagine all these young punks....along they come to see the next big thing, The Clash, and they are stunned to hear reaggae! A superb rendition of Police & Thieves, a reggae song. What the fuck?? But man, how bloody good they are, even in these early days. Thats why they changed lives. They were just different, on a completely different level. The Only Band That Mattered.
CharlieDoesNotSurf: Yes! Fantastic group! Amazing Band... Although the group didn’t exist anymore when I discovered it, they really changed my life too. I was around 12-13 years old and since then they have never left my mind. The Really Only Band That Matter ...ForEver!

Bob Marley & The Wailers were quite a big deal in England at the time,in fact I think they were living in London at about this time so not so "stunning" to hear a Reggae cover really.
Topper is...fuking crazy. I was named by them so called Pera "Clash" , I have painted the Clash in the center of Belgrade, and it was there for long time until color is washed out. I am now 50 but when i hear them I am feel like I am 18. Thank you for everything that you gave me, teaches me and make me to be better man.
Life long Clash fan and first time I've seen this (thanks to the wonders of the internety thing). Fuckin fantastic! Thanks for the clarification below that it's Topper on the drums. These guys forever send shivers up your spine. Love 'em!
Well... I come from a very small french town and I've been a big fan of The Clash since forever ... but I will never have seen and heard that without internet and TH-cam! so very sincerely thank you so much for posting videos of this kind!
great stuff of the best band ever!! THANX for the upload...never saw this one---- saw the Cash 5 times live....fist time during the Londong Calling / 16 tons tour in 1980---they were ......like a train ..hitting my face:)---clashical salute from rudy &the Lickshots
Got into the clash when I was 12 years old in 1977,bought the American vinyl version with the blue cover.what musicianship, tight and just on another level.I loved this raw sound period,as also the other music styles they brought in later periods. Always wondered why they never did a John peel session? Anybody out there know the real answer to this.anybody know what is the best unofficial recording live available.yes truly one of the greatest bands ever.
Excellent "Police & Thieves". Greatest rock band ever. I wasn't too thrilled with the camera dude zipping in and out at hyper speed. Everyone wants to be an artist I guess. Was that Terry Chime on the drums?
This is just awesome. Thanks you good person who posted this. I’m just coming up to my 67th birthday and the best present would be the resurrection of Joe Strummer to tell all the half wit youth to get off their arses and go out and fight for socialism! “White riot, white riot, white riot, I want a riot of my own!”
do you really think I was the cameraman & editor in 1977 🤣 Thanks for typical negative internet comment where someone thinks they know something that they definitely don't, I got a laugh at least.
I was lucky to be a teenager when Punk came around, youngsters now a days will never experience bands like The Clash
It's really cool seeing The Clash playing when they first started. The camera man sucks though.
antonius augustus the camera man makes shit
It's not the cameramen it's the producer who decides on this... but I agree it's shite!!

Camera man was maybe as high as Strummer was.Blame it on the times.
I think those zooms are the camera man and the rest is the producer/editor. watcha gonna do?
Am I the only one who came here expecting a 20 minute version of "1977", but was even more pleased when they found out it was a full concert?

I have the first Clash album in the original cassette version. 1977.
Saw The Clash live only once in Liverpool about 1983
Unfortunately no Mick or Topper but still great night
It's not the clash without Mick, barely the clash without topin, I saw them on combat rock, no topin 🤣
Thanks for this !!!!!!!!!
I was there!
Where were they playing?
I loved the clash, but I was ten years late to the party......that was 35 years ago!
I saw the Clash loads of times. Best gig was the Hammersmith Palais.

It's Topper and it's one of his first gigs. Pretty good for the first time.
Brian Clarke: it’s already Topper on Drums 👍
Filmed in house at Sussex Uni... "it's so grey in Brighton town"
Capitol Radio..fantastic.
Is that Terry Chimes? Nice!
Real.
Cameraman/director is trying to add some urgency by his bewildering photography. Great to see though.
he's excited by the sound of The Clash
I didnt see the Clash till 1978. Bit at least i did.

This video needs faster cuts.
What is the name of the second song? anybody know?
Protex Blue - see side 2 of the first album
'Protex Blue' is on the 'proper' debut lp..but not on the 1979 issued 'US version'
A song about condom's,,or rubber Johnnys (Johnny)
This fuckin' rawks...
This is awesome - needs to be listened too and not watched - arsehole of an editor relay fucked up the footage
Still.....
@Thomas probably. lol

Lousy cameraman.
Is there just a regular upload of this? This is making me dizzy! I can’t enjoy it.
It’s a fucking mirical that anything exists at all
it is as I found it. Lucky to have it I guess
just listen to it then, Bozo

Better to let them just play without the effects. You ruined it.
