    Test drove the 2021manual. Solid, well made little vehicle. IMO, this model is Hyundai's best kept secret. Highly underrated and often overlooked because most people opt for the Elantra.

      I had a 2000 Elantra. A great car. In many ways the 2022 Accent is a better. I drove the 2022 Elantra. More room and more power but did not drive any better than the accent. I think the Accent is a bit more responsive and better on gas.

      I owned one for 3 years and fell in love with it. I was unsure about how I’d like it when I was on the initial test drive. But it’s a great car for a budget and I was never let down. I had fun with the accent and have no complaints at all. I drove it smoothly and it was great on gas and had a peppy drive and some soul to it. T he seats were comfortable enough and the trunk was large enough to carry all of my crap lol. It was well equipped enough and I don’t mind cloth seats. I prefer them. Congratulations and enjoy.

    This review has made up my mind. I'm currently driving à Sonata (13 years) and my only complaints have been the loose steering and soft breaking. The 2022 Accent addresses both of these issues. I'm buying the 2022 SEL in Pomegranite Red. Thanks for an excellent review.

    I have a 2017 model SE for 2 yrs now...brought it as a rental with 45000 miles on it.I was totally impressed from the 1st time i drove this to now. it's faster than most people who never drove one says, drives well, brakes really well and the 6 speaker stereo system(on the 2015-17 models)is much better sounding than most stock systems. seats are pretty good and have no problem driving in city traffic.in 2019 they are using the IVT tranmissions but mine has the 6 speed automatic which works great. only had to change the battery in the 2 yrs i had it. i must say that the GDI engine long term i would use premium gas to keep the carbon build up down. other than that for 17,000.00 dollars i would still buy one...really good car!

    I purchased a Accent Blue in 2010 and am still driving it. It has been good to me. With very little spent in actual repair costs. I was considering buying this newer model, but they discontinued the manual transmission. I understand Hyundai/Kia IVTs (CVT) transmissions have been trouble prone.

      Had a 08' model until last year, 218k miles. Tranny went out at 110k. Why? No trans cooler up front. When I put the 2nd used tranny in, I put a aux cooler. Never a problem.

    My daughter just totaled her 06 KIA Spectra SX and she asked me about this car (I drive an Elantra) and I was like - NO WAY - that's a step up from a smart car...then I thought about how many years have gone by (I got that Spectra new in 05) and my have sub compacts grown - I did the comparison and there is literally 1-2" differences between the 2 regarding the interior height/weight - then your review solidified that I will be ok with her getting one - I am with you and would prefer her get an SEL due to the rims and brakes mainly - the radio is a throw in - in my opinion.
    Also - I bought a N Line Elantra a month ago with your review being part of my research - and honestly, I smile when I hit the gas too lol! Thanks for what you do and being so thorough.

    I’m gonna give everyone a heads up regarding the seat comfort, as I recently sold my 2019 Accent:
    The car is fantastic in almost every facet /except/ the seats, if you’re a lightweight person with no posterior cushion. I developed chronic pelvic floor pain during the couple years I owned mine, and an MRI confirmed nerve entrapment. I started having pain in my perineum right around the time I got this car, and the pain only worsened steadily with each passing month. I eventually had to buy a cushion once I started driving for more than just my work commute (DoorDash, Lyft, etc). It got to a point I couldn’t even do that extra work with the cushion, and finally had to sell it and get in a more comfortable vehicle.
    The car never let me down for the 45k miles I drove it, and it was solid all around. But the seats? Brutally firm and don’t breathe at all. Give it a thorough test drive if you’re lightweight and have no butt, you may regret the purchase otherwise

    • @leotide1990
      @leotide1990 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@asmokingp3005 Sold mine, but I later did find a solution, and it’s both weird and really effective:
      I found for my particular pain that I needed a seat cushion with a recessed center seam, thanks to the car I got after the Accent (2006 Sonata). I ride with my partner every so often in their 2012 Tucson, which has really flat and firm seats, so I went to a local Pull-a-Part and pulled out a driver’s seat bottom cushion from a 2006-2010 Hyundai Sonata (specifically driver, as the passenger side has a firm pad atop the foam for sensing weight to trigger the passenger seatbelt warning). Because the foam has a cutout at the rear, I zip-tied a towel beneath that section to the cushion, then put it in the Tucson. Worked flawlessly!
      I’ve since gone and got two more such cushions - one for home, one to tote around as needed. I may look odd, but I am comfortable for the first time in years

    8.5 second 0-60 is so much better than both my cars. I have a 2007 Prius and it take almost 12 seconds for 0-60 and it’s the only car I’ve had to, twice, get to the shoulder when merging cuz the damn thing is the slowest thing ever and when the merge lane is super small then it’s almost impossible to merge. And then my second car (daily, use the Prius for DoorDash and Instacart but sadly Prius is dying at 270k miles) is a 2005 mercury montego. 0-60 in 10.5 seconds. Love the montego for its ride quality and driving in town. But yeah I need a replacement for my Prius for deliveries and I think this car can be used quite easily. Great MPG, looks good, super cheap, maintenance free for 3 years. And thinking that maybe I’ll buy this accent, then when it the maintenance or warranty ends then I’ll sale it and get a new one.

    I have had a 2020 base model as a loaner while my car has been in the shop for the last 10 days. I have been amazed at how smooth, quiet, peppy, and fuel efficient this car is. It's fairly beat up, has 57,000 miles and has a few minor interior rattles, but good grief. It's so zippy, handles great, feels solid, no wind noise, and I'm averaging 40.1 mpg in town, according to the computer. Sound system is awful, no center armrest. tiny backseat. Overall, an amazing value, worth considering for any economy car buyer, even a used one.
