Maybe because the family was being inconsiderate and annoying. When people are waiting behind you in line, it's respectful to have your coupons organized and your payment ready. Other customers shouldn't have to wait for 20 minutes because of poor planning on your end. Doesn't mean it's OK she recorded them and put them on blast, but I would've been frustrated too and certainly wouldn't offer to pay for their stuff.

I totally understand. People think I have money because my parents have money and they’ve given me nice gifts. I worry about my bills all the time, I budget before I get paid and make sure I know where every penny goes. Meal plan and I don’t buy lavish things. I have a nice car because it was my mom’s and she passed it on to me when I graduated college. I have a nice phone because my contract was up on my old one and I got a cheap upgrade. Almost all of my nice clothes are from high school when I could spend the money I made on whatever I wanted. I just never outgrew my clothes from then. I’m a barber and we just don’t make a lot of money. People assume a lot of things and maybe we should just have more empathy for other people because we literally have no idea what their situation is. Also, why not save money when you can??

I’m a cashier and I’ve never had “well off” people try to be under a certain amount or get cheap with their groceries. You can tell when someone is worried about their card being declined. But also, even if that family was well-off and just wanted to be under a certain amount or use coupons, that’s none of her business.

I hate how she's using the "They have new tech" as an excuse. My mom has an IPhone 6, and I have an IPhone 8 and a IPad Pro. We are currently in poverty, my mom is on the verge of losing her job for not being able to afford rent, and we can't afford groceries (We only got new groceries because someone we knew paid for them). We aren't rich, we just happen to have new tech due to fortunate circumstances. We do sometimes have to take things off the line at the grocery store. We aren't trying to waste anyone's time.

when my family was poor my parents still had phones, i had a 3ds, we had a tv but we were still poor.
now a days having a phone is a necessity and there are banks that give you tablets sometimes so you can’t really judge a persons financial status based what you see on the outside.

You never know what somebody’s going through, one day you could have a great job and be able to provide for your partner and kids (get them iPhones, tablets and all brand grocery’s ) and then the next thing you know your getting let go from your job or a family member gets cancer and has medical bills or you realize you don’t have enough for taxes and now all of a sudden all your savings is gone. We shouldn’t judge people for what they have or don’t have because we have no idea what’s going on in their lives, so we should try our best to treat people how we’d want to be treated because even if we’re financially comfortable today, just one surprise tragic event, and we could be struggling to survive tomorrow.

I remember when my mom was in the hospital a few years ago and I was staying with her because I didn't want her to be up there all alone (the hospital was a good three towns over from where we lived and was pretty far away), and my grandma gave me $10 to get food from the cafeteria.
I got my food and drink and went to check out, and was about $3 short. From behind me, this sweet little old lady paid for the rest of it. She was so nice about it and I still think about it to this day!

I'm not defending anyone, but it seems like you're assuming they are struggling just to make her look like a piece of shit. Yeah, she insinuated that in the video and she definitely should have blurred them out and not made assumptions about their life. I used to work in retail and I can assure you that people who are struggling are NOT the ones who use coupons or try to use the wrong or expired ones. I had a man throw $1 packs of dog treats at me because I couldn't take his coupon. There used to be a DOCTOR'S wife who would come into our store and lie about price matches and shoplift, so it seems a little petty for you to go after Lia over this, just sayin.

I went through something similar to that not too long ago. At my school before I switched out the class I had a class I physically couldn't participate in, gym, because of an injury. The uniform they sell is about $20 and I couldn't afford it and since I was going to be out of the class soon, I figured it wouldn't be an issue. So one Monday, everyone's getting ready and because I wasn't dressed out I was brought up to the coaches office and one of them got mad when I said I couldn't afford the uniform. They then proceeded to point out my nike shoes (one's I've had for about 6 years now and were from my aunt), a phone (which I only got because of a sale because the brand would be discontinued here), a jacket (another gift from my aunt), headphones (a gift from my grandfather), and a purse (that I got for $10 bucks). I was judged on my financial situation based on how I looked and what I have. Little did they know that weekend my family struggled with affording food and we always barely get by on what we have now will bills and rent, and it's been the same way for years. So yeah, a uniform wasn't on my priority list. I switched out of the class that day and I love the class I'm in now

Exactly! I am fairly poor myself but I have a mobile phone that's still recent-ish. Whenever I complain about having no money, people always say "well what about that nice phone you have there?"
