As someone who was a recipient of all this shit (canning, "murga", hair pulling etc.) I was so happy when corporal punishment was criminalized but when I went home and to my old school, it was still going on, blatantly. These sick fucks enjoy hurting kids and I'm not surprised that there are those who like watching kids get hurt or derive some kind of "Oh I went through it, so they must go through it as well" feeling.

When I went to live with my grandma in some part of Asia(I don’t want to disclose which region due to privacy reasons) I went in a public elementary school for a year. I know both english and my native language because my grandma taught me it. However one teacher in that school hated that I couldn’t speak my native language properly so she made me close my fingers up tight and hit it with a long stick ruler…
And even threatened us that if we ever tell our parents about it, we will get a more cruel punishment. After going back home in the U.S my mother notice the marks on my legs and arms and I told her the truth. She told my grandmother and even made a flight trip just to sue the school.

My experience were not severe compare to the unfortunate ones who live in secluded places. Sometimes the children didn’t want to confess the teacher’s horrible act because they are in fear of losing access on education since it is the only school in their place.
Its sickening really.. After going back to U.S it took a while before I was able to recover from my trauma. I would always flinch every time a teacher gets near me.

as someone who is used to be in the elementary school and middle school in a 3rd world country I must say this is the norm , not only in villages , heck even if a child goes into a private school there he will probably get the same same treatment , it's either the serious beating or degradation or both , it's an environment where the child realizes that everybody will harm (physically or emotionally or both ) if he's / she's not careful , I remember me and my friends having an American teacher for the first time in high school , she was nice and kind but whenever she gives us a question (no matter how simple it might be) we didn't answer back , she thought that we didn't understand anything from what she had said but the reality is that the fear from our childhood has developed into a serious level , all that abuse we used to have before made us seeing any teacher as some sort of a monster , thus a large part of nice teachers ( or even college professors) are often surprised seeing the students tend to not to interact with them

As a kinkster who has extensive experience dosing consensual pain for mutual enjoyment I want to point out that taped up styrofoam can sting *quite* intensely. Especially on bare skin. This combined with the fact that pain tolerance goes down with fear, and we have a situation where her definition of "harm" is solely in the physical sense. I can't even imagine what kind of angry I would get if someone hit anyone I care about, with something like that, against their will. The psychological harm that does is real and tangible. It's dehumanizing, a nullification of personal autonomy, and damaging to peoples self worth and ability to healthily state and maintain boundaries.
That kind of twisted sickos in the comment section sometimes show up in our community but we ostracize them in short order. It's really disturbing that some people get a kick out of actual missery :-/

I mean, it's torture even used by the US government - making people stand/hold stress positions for extended periods of time is an underrated torture method all around! Plus, there are no marks left - so it's very easy to hide.
The people in charge can just shrug and say, "I didn't lay a finger on that person"...😏

I remember being brutally beaten in school. There were 3-4 teachers who used to take out their day on kids. My school was a good private school in the capital of our country so it's not like some rural area but still there is abuse. There was one maths teacher in 12th grade who used to bully me being overweight and that was the reason I didn't like going to school but he used this as an excuse to bully me, mock me and make fun of me infront of the entire class. It wasn't until I cried in front of him that you torture me he realised what kind of harm he was inflicting on me. I don't care if this comment doesn't get any attention at all I just wanted to vent. Now that I'm in a decent job and physically fit I don't look back at the horrible memories which only reminds me how much I hated school. My college was the best time of my life though so there was some relief. Teachers used to slap you because you forgot to bring the book she asked for and minuscule things like that. Now coming back to my maths teacher in 12th grade, he used to ask me questions and since I was absent I didn't know the answers he used this as an excuse to mock me in front of the class and make fun of my weight. Now I know being overweight is not healthy that's why in college I started running and got fit but you've got to understand I was a science student we used to go to tuitions for subjects because school didn't cover everything and didn't teach us properly. So we didn't get any time to work out or engage in fun activities. Now when in my tuition I learnt all that my maths teacher was teaching he asked me a few questions stating that I won't know the answers but on the contrary I proved him wrong and knew all the answers. He was left speechless and that was the most satisfying thing ever at that time. He never made fun of me after that because I didn't give him a reason to.

It is a very common practice in India. Teachers get to hit the student because they don't know how to properly approach them properly and they are the worst kind of teachers. My classmates and me have gone through all of that. Slapped, hit by sticks. Pure fear. I'm sure this "tradition" isn't going anywhere. That's why I became a teacher. Hi, fellow Malaysian.
Been through it too, while growing up.
In a way, I understand why our previous generation superiors were strict that way, probably because they truly believe that that is the right way of teaching discipline and respect.
Personally, I wholeheartedly disagree with them, because those actions developed my extreme anxiety issues today.
Due to that, my wife and I are raising our own daughter as lovingly as possible, without ever harming her both physically and emotionally.
I'm grateful that my daughter is growing and developing so well and quickly because of the warmth and trust provided to her.
Hopefully, she becomes the primary example for others around our circle to follow.
That's my way of showing to everyone of the 'old-school' mentality that pain and suffering is not the only way to teach and guide others.

    • @n_aniki
      @n_aniki 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It's probably because of the "old-school" mentality that a lot of South-East Asian country has, including Malaysia, and my country too, Indonesia.
A lot of the parents here still think it's very much normal to "discipline" their kids in a harmful and abusive way, most likely because they too, have been "disciplined" that way before.
It feels like the only way they know how to discipline their child is through verbal or physical abuse, which is definitely wrong. But even if their method is unjustifiable, I understand why they do that and why they keep doing that, And even after years of changes of disciplinary action changes, I've heard some teachers that still justify these methods of physically abusing their students

    • @arthurfine4284

It's ceases being a punishment once "the teacher"
      A) MANIPULATES and COERCES children to do bad behavior so that they get "punished" for it (entrapment), and
      B) RECORDS and PUBLISHES the "punishments" on the Internet (public humiliation).
I dunno if you heard of the case of Michael Fey (American guy who vandalized cars in Singapore that got caned), and while he complained about being caned, I don't remember him ever claiming that the Singapore Government told him "hey, so vandalism is okay, here's a spray can, go paint up cars" and I certainty don't remember hearing that the Singapore Government ever publicly broadcasting Fey's caning on television.

I studied in a major city of india . I was a really good kid, had good grades , didnt talk much and won a ton of competitions for the school . I received corporal punishment for not OVER clipping my nails , being a bit late to school , not braiding my very short and silky hair etc.
Younger kids are more likely to get this form of punishment not because they are more mischievous
than the older kids , its mainly because they can get away with it. Parents are mostly on the teachers side, if the kid gets punished its the kids fault and believe that kids need to be tamed by beating before they reach a certain age . This allows the teachers to be assholes and abuse children for absurd reasons in the name of educating the kids . This needs to stop .

I study in a very reputable school in india (rhymes with "helly public school") and the teachers still beat my classmates and sometimes even me, and if a person gets less than 50% in any subject overall they make them stand on the assembly stage during the morning assembly, it happened to me once in 4th grade. the mental and emotional abuse is too much here , if you get on the stage for even one subject, the subject teachers dont allow you to sit with the other kids and make you sit down in the corner of the class for the whole academic year, the principal tells all of us that we cant get jobs anymore and he wouldn't even admit us into the school as a pune. but our school is still rated as the 2nd best school in our state. bc when the school inspector comes to the school the teacher that made me handstand out of the classroom , not letting me take notes or study, suddenly lets me sit on the first bench and cares about my notes. luckily i only have 1 year left in this hellhole, and you if you tell your parents about this, you are just a bad student giving excuses and you cant leave the school bc they wont refund you the advance of 1 lakh rupees (about 1000 usd) you pay for 9th and 10th grade. I really hope you see this Mutahar
