My sister wrote me a check for 1K. It deposited 100 (banks fault for reading check wrong). We went back and forth but were told since we didn’t tell them in 15d, our fault. We ended up eating the 900 & changing banks.

Yet when I demanded they check their video camera on the day the money was taken they outright refused. The police didn't take me seriously either. @@KristenZianourry2015 there's a few things they take into consideration before sentencing. Firstly is the amount & secondly is if the offender has prior convictions. @@sunnyandthechlothere actually is a bit of finders keepers. Often if a bank wires the incorrect money into a personal account, the person is able to keep it. It’s happened many times.
This is what happens when everyone believes they will never be charged with stealing anything. They never get charged with shoplifting because they are "victims". So on to the next level...stealing cash.
This is just like that woman who posted a bunch of tiktoks like "Here's how I grew my business" and it was all just circular transactions where she would invoice herself, pay the invoice with a business credit card, and then use those funds to pay the credit card saying "Then, since I paid the card easily they increase my credit and I can buy stuff with my business card" not realizing it's just fraud
You can do that to your own personal cards; depending on your laws. It's when you do this in a *business* that it becomes fraud; once again depending on laws in your area it ends up causing tons of issues. When you do it for personal cards (A to B to C back to A with no accrued interest) it's called *consolidation* and you take advantage of loopholes; banks don't wanna chase down people potentially consolidating accounts as it might *push said consolidators elsewhere.* My source? My grandfather did insurance adjusting for businesses. Don't commit fraud in businesses, do commit "consolidation" on personal accounts. He made *oodles* of cash from people whom literally *refuse* to read print and sign agreements when they inadvertently would break said agreements. Businesses are not people.
Even better, that doesn't matter as much. Just having a credit card (personal) your credit score goes up. Because not having to pay anything, is the same as an on time payment. Really its only the bad stuff that hurts you. Though not using a card is a good way to get the account closed down for inactivity. Not fraud, not illegal, and your credit score goes up. It's called being a responsible card holder lol. Shocker, these kids should try it some time.
I'm not embarrassed for these people. I'm glad I grew up with sensible parents in a good area away from people like this. I'm not claiming any people who continue to play into stereotypes as “my community” they're on their own.
Check fraud can have dire consequences and can ruin people’s financial lives. Let's all be mindful and take a careful approach to what we decide to engage in.
I just read about a bakery in California that got scammed this way. The owner felt something was off due to the amount the check was for, so she asked someone at the bank what they thought. The person at the bank told her that if the check clears, she's good. The check cleared, so she started on the order. Then she got a call from the "customer" wanting a refund. She said no because she had already started on the order. Then the bank called and told her the check was fake. The story has been getting people to the bakery so she can recoup the funds, but it was a sad story to read.
But you know that you’re going to have to pay it back.. Anyone with a bank account knows that so I don’t understand why they thought it would be any different.. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Like you could just run back there and grab a hot-and-ready 4-piece, complete with a biscuit and two sides? At best a looter could get a 20-pound bag of _RAW_ chicken... probably several of those bag, but they'd need to go home _IMMEDIATELY_ to keep it from going bad. Aside from that, maybe a 50-pound bag of breading? The fact that they were trying to loot this _PROVES_ that they had no idea how any of that works, and the _REASON_ they had no idea how any of that works is because none of them have ever had a job like that. And it wouldn't have needed to be a job specifically at Popeye's - they'd have known that if they'd worked at a Taco Bell, or a Burger King, or any-other-restaurant-EVER. *There's not prepared food sitting. @@markusgorelli5278 depositing a check from your bank into your account just means they can check the funds clearance instantly vs waiting a day or 2 for the batch requests to clear. In any case, there's still a daily ATM withdrawal limit, which for the average person is tops around $500. Sure you can go inside for a teller facilitated withdrawal of a larger amount, but any halfway competent teller would start double checking the situation, not to mention the mandatory reporting for currency transactions of 10k or larger.

So the next day I withdrew all my funds, said some unpleasant things to the employees because they were trying to talk me out of doing that, and have never had anything good to say about that bank since then.
I know someone had to have stolen my money, and a friend that worked at another bank (not for BoA), told me that most likely someone that worked in the upper ranks had probably taken it. I don't know, I don't understand how that's even possible.

I can't believe that in the year 2024 people wouldn't think that a bank would go after you for stealing their money.
The money in a bank is not the banks money. Is some other persons money. When banks loan money it’s someone else’s money they loan, not theirs.
It's like they think banks have infinite money and they'll just go 'oh well.' Or it's like finders keepers, once it's yours no take backs.
Being black is a hell of a drug
@@sunnyandthechlothere actually is a bit of finders keepers. Often if a bank wires the incorrect money into a personal account, the person is able to keep it. It’s happened many times.
But this is clearly not one of those instances.
When you do it for personal cards (A to B to C back to A with no accrued interest) it's called *consolidation* and you take advantage of loopholes; banks don't wanna chase down people potentially consolidating accounts as it might *push said consolidators elsewhere.*
My source? My grandfather did insurance adjusting for businesses. Don't commit fraud in businesses, do commit "consolidation" on personal accounts. He made *oodles* of cash from people whom literally *refuse* to read print and sign agreements when they inadvertently would break said agreements. Businesses are not people.
Just wait until the IRS wants their 30%.
But that's not even the crazy part
Not to mention they take out 45 dollars each day for overdraft fees so that shit still rackin up 😅
Plus the daily fees for each day your account is over drafted.
@little1942 what was the point of commenting a reply to the commenter with pretty much the same comment as them?

At best a looter could get a 20-pound bag of _RAW_ chicken... probably several of those bag, but they'd need to go home _IMMEDIATELY_ to keep it from going bad. Aside from that, maybe a 50-pound bag of breading?
The fact that they were trying to loot this _PROVES_ that they had no idea how any of that works, and the _REASON_ they had no idea how any of that works is because none of them have ever had a job like that. Tik tok has ruined the way people think people respond to things as much as their bank accounts. Surprised equals cover mouth. Upset equals rub face.
This is proof too many people today gave up critical thinking for social media. And these clown all have the same voting power as sensible people 💀
This is the type of shit the boondocks would parody
Guy who made the boondocks probably smart enough to know how many of these videos are clearly fakes
Was just going to say that.
@@chillin5703 Are they really? I can believe quite a few being fake, but are you certain there aren't a good number of real ones _due_ to the fake ones? You can't really fake that one teeth filing thing, thinking it's a legitimate thing with benefits. People can very easily be manipulated in today's landscape.

its so hard to believe people are actually this stupid but were old enough to even open their own bank accounts.
It’s not a glitch and is indeed fraud but by design the program was working as intended. It just so happens there are people dumb enough to fall for trends on tik tok.
Nah dude why would a business do this to catch a bunch of clowns who will likely not be able to pay it back?
@@oldbloke204oh, they will pay it back. They will go to prison. Then any money they make will be garnished before they ever get ahold of it.
They really don't have a choice.
@oldbloke204 Working as intended as the bank lets you withdraw money early with the assumption that the check is good. The simplified reasoning being things like businesses need the money asap. The way they are using that is ofc not intended.
@@oldbloke204 They're not saying the banks intended to trick people with this. Allowing the funds to be immediately available while the check clears is normal operation (my bank has always done it this way). You're just not supposed to use it to commit check fraud, or else this is what happens.
@@THEDubbleHelixx Nope should have been flagged as uncleared and not available.
System failure imo.
The fact that people are so dumb they think they can “glitch”, hack or even steal from a bank without any repercussions or consequences really gives me no hope for the near future.

We need more financial literacy in our country. This almost happened to me with a scam for a job. It's crazy people are doing this crap to themselves.
This is a cultural thing - I'll let you figure out what culture I'm talking about
Really, we had to turn this into racism? I saw your past comments. I'm Black it is not in our culture to do things like this. People of all colors do things like this. It's just a difference in scale. All kinds of people want something for nothing. Demonizing a group of people based on a small group you see on social media shows your ignorance.

You typed too many words. "We need more literacy in our country" is more correct. But, you are also correct!
I work for a governmental financial regulator and this has f****d over people who didn’t even participate in this stupid s**t.
That's interesting and totally not fair on the innocent people. Could you elaborate on how they're being affected too please by this as I'm genuinely curious. I get going after those who used the "glitch" but it's always the few who ruin it for the many I guess.
If this actually is affecting innocent people, it's likely because tax payers are going to have to cover the bank's losses.
😮 How so?
I'd like to know how this is affecting people who DIDN'T partake in this fraud? I'm sure more than a few legitimate Chase customers would like to know this.

Chase doesn’t allow that much to come out of an atm. They definitely don’t give money face to face if the check hasn’t cleared.
I think that was the actual ATM glitch, it was allowing them to pull it out without clearing
Right...i was thinking that ATM withdrawals had a set amount you could withdraw daily.
