Something about the Sun God fruit that makes it go from a "you're the chosen one and only you can wield me" to "This is a strong power that requires constant effort and understanding to use correctly" is that before Luffy, there were people who had that fruit, and I am not talking about Joyboy, since the Void Century that fruit has been avoiding the government, been eaten but never awakened, based on the fact that Zoans have wills of their own, it implies that those who ate the fruit had the same potential as Luffy, but nobody awakened it, meaning Luffy is special not because of his potential alone, but due to his efforts in both understanding his fruit and all the sacrifice he made to get far with it.

Ok so this maybe is long and pleas don’t be mad at me! But I started one peace after the live show and started the anime before it came out and I think I like the neeest episode the most of any of the. The art is so good and unique and Too the story has made to be so strong. Nika is the coolest power in all of anime. But when I go on TikTok I see only people be negative and I went on Reddit after one of your videos and everyone hates the show! I am the opposeite. So I wanted to say THANK YOU for seeing it’s ok to like both and that the show is still good and fun. I agree I think maybe the characters get bad I miss usopp but the show has never been BETTER to ME
No man don’t say that no one should be mad at you for your anime opinions lol. But o appreciate this comment a lot! Part of my motivation for making this video was the negative things I’ve seen when people say they like the new direction. I think it’s a vastly different series but I don’t think that means it’s BAD or that there’s anything wrong with liking it. We have had so many years of this series that it’s bound to change
I started One Piece 15 years ago. The first few episodes was a little boring, but then i got hooked. Now I love One Piece more and more. I can't wait for Elbaf Arc. I want this anime never to end.
One Piece is not changing, nor is it getting worse. You’re just in an echo chamber of crybabies who had expectations of how YOU thought the story should go. I think the story has gotten better and better. Dressrosa, Wholecake, Wano, and Egghead are some of the best arcs in the story aside from W7/Enies Lobby and Marineford. And the only difference between those two arcs is that they were “climax” arcs, which naturally makes them feel more significant than the “build up” arcs. The whole entire Yonko saga has been a series of “build up” arcs for a new climax, which will make Marineford look like a schoolyard fight. And as far as your take on the Nika fruit, you’re just flat out wrong. The Nika fruit was one of the best, most thematically consistent reveals/powerups in all of anime/manga history.
Really appreciate this comment and honestly I agree with you on most of this. The only thing I disagree with is that you said one piece isn’t changing and then said it’s getting better. Getting better requires change. I actually really LOVE where the story is going and beyond the worry I have about characters I love being sidelined and flanderized I am really excited to see the direction shit goes in. The egghead arc is hype and my issue isn’t the dichotomy between the build up and climax arcs (which is really a great point) but the way that Oda’s attention to the characters in the story has changed! Definitely appreciate the comment but not sure I understand where the heat is coming from
Dude no, that was a cringe take. Sadly you're flat out wrong and you're the one in an echo chamber. I've been reading this series for over 20 years, since its first English release in Shonen Jump in December of 2002. It's one of my favorite things ever. However, nothing I love is above criticism. Wano was a giant, bloated, jack-off session for Japanese culture. The straw hats were given a backseat to the scabbards for the entire arc and it was 15 volumes long! That means that nearly 20% of the story so far was dedicated to the scabbards. Not to mention, the climax was noticeably less smooth and emotionally satisfying compared to almost every other major arc. It was literally the first time you could tell that Oda was rushed and just wanted to finish the arc. Considering he was working on film red and the live action series all at the same time it makes sense. There's Yamato, I don't know what Oda was trying to do with that. Then you have Kaidou and big mom who just end up in lava and die? Wtf? And Nika? My god, what a stupid retcon. You could have had Luffy awaken his fruit, give him the new appearance and the toon-force powers without coming up with this mythical zoan Nika crap. I honestly think the best parts of Wano were the beginning, with Zoro and Luffy together and the flashback. This isn't just me and the video creator either. In Japan, manga sales were down considerably toward the latter half of the Wano arc. Even the Japanese were tired of the cultural dick tugging and that says it all. The art style has also suffered in recent years. People call it smudge piece and it's hard to fault them. Go back to water seven and compare the paneling and art to what it has looked like recently. Now with that being said, Egghead has been an amazing arc, so hopefully the Wano blip will be rectified by the final saga. Long story short; One Piece is one of the greatest things ever made but it's perfectly acceptable to find faults and nitpicks with it, particularly post-timeskip and the Wano arc in a great example. It doesn't make you a crybaby, quite the opposite. It just shows you're paying attention. Oda has dropped the ball a few times but I have full confidence he will win the game.
@@CaptainPieBeard all i can say is fully agree across the board here man. thank you for this incredible commentary too. i hate when people jump into thinking any criticism means you're saying it's bad or aren't a fan. one piece is still my favorite shit and i've been reading it for 20 years
You're too quick to judge , the things you say were the things fan were complaining about eons ago but it did get it completion , If Oda writes something there is always a reason for it , he wants to deliver the best climax you have to wait for it , do not be hasty in your judgements the "unfinished plotlines and threads" and the incompleted works will be completed and improved when it is time , you have to have patience dawg.
about Zoro's backstory Zoro doesn't care about his own backstory and why would you give an origin for a character that doesn't want it it would feel out of place for Zoro, to learn about his family and feel something about it
Big L here, the story is still very much the one piece that I have loved the entire time, and it is still going strong on its core ideals. Luffy isn't going to do anything because he's the chosen one, he has his own motivations not defined by his devil fruit. Its ok if the main cast takes a sideline for important developments such as momo and his retainers. Its happened before with marineford. Everyone has their turn - Pedro/Roger There are still many mystery's that need answers and everyone still has room for improvement and development. The world is rich with life and so many characters are on their own paths and I eagerly await for them to converge at the time of final resolution.
I don't think Luffy's a chosen one. He's not chosen by fate nor is he the reincarnation of someone. If he is chosen it's because he chose himself. Luffy is a self-made God. Not a child of destiny but rather someone who created his own. At no point was it ever stated that this was all meant to happen like it was with Naruto. Keep in mind thats just a "feeling" you have and not something stated in the story.
@@emperorluffy6001 no way man I love these comments I’m so happy you wrote. Honestly anyone who takes the time to watch my videos let alone comment on them is someone I deeply appreciate
Its okey if you dont like one piece, but pretending that it failed when its on the most popular ever is ridicolous. I like the new arcs, I like nika, I like where the story goes. Also its honestly tireing that people overromenticize old things, and act like it set the bar so high there is no point ever doing anything because it can never be that good. Its a story as old as I am. Obviously oda will change as a person and as an artist during this timeframe.
Oh man! This is not what I said in the video at all lol I love one piece (still) and read the new chapters every week they release. The whole point of this video is acknowledging that the narrative structure and tone of the story has changed and that it’s ok! People shouldn’t shit on new or old fans who like the direction it’s going in. The one complaint I won’t give up on is that I don’t want to see our strawhats flanderized but beyond that I’m ride or die. Literally say that I’ll be along til the end in this video so I don’t know why you think I don’t like it! Criticism isn’t saying I don’t like it
@@fromnoonon that opinion is mutually exclusive with the one you expressed in the video, I agree that wano had its weak points but egg head is every bit as good as the best pre time skip arcs
@@RunD.Ones1s no i don't think it is at all. i said the series is a shell of the series i fell in love with. i think it's one of my favorite arcs to date. this video is about how i recognize that this series is DIFFERENT than the one i fell in love with, but i explicitly say that i don't think that's a bad thing. the only deep issue i really have is that a lot of the characters i love are getting sidelined/flanderized. but two times in the video i directly say that none of this is to say the series is bad now, just that it's different.
@@fromnoonon I never said that you said it was bad, but claiming that “it’s a shell of itself” quite literally means that it got worse and if egg head is one of the best arcs in the series then it by definition couldn’t have gotten worse overall since that’s the most recent arc
@@RunD.Ones1s actually you're right. i didnt mean that but that's absolutely what i say in the video, i just meant its structure isnt what it is but the negative implication of the "shell of itself" comment is valid. but that's more to me misspeaking in my video. apologies for arguing this deep with you when you are correct
Bro ranted for 14 minutes claiming to have watched OP for past 2 decades but never noticed the broken power scaling from as early as Loguetown itself and forgot about Haki and didn't fully understand the Awakening.
Your video is a decade late! OP has been a parody of its former self since the Punk Hazard Arc. I know, that many people would probably say, "It's actually everything after the time skip.", but they are wrong. Fishman Island Arc was still somewhat acceptable. Even if it wasn't that good anymore, it still didn't completely destroy itself yet. But with Punk Hazard the real self-destruction started. Remember when Zorro suddenly revealed, that he was a misogynist in the fight with Monet and Tashigi, even though it was in complete contradiction to his original backstory? That was f*cking weird!
Yeah you’re spot on with a lot here. The only thing I’d say is that Punk Hazard is when the cracks REALLY started, but it was still redeemable. dressrosa dragged but was all in all a classic one piece arc and it didn’t sideline or flanderize characters like Wano did. Even WCI holds up, although Oda didn’t have to balance all the different strawhats for that so he got saved. Post TS it’s been downhill in regards to the reasons why we all fell in love originally, no doubt!
I mean, you can have whatever opinion you want, but the flanderization of its characters ACTUALLY already started before the timeskip even! The thing is, that at that point the story was still generally well-written and still was doing things, that weren't destroying its own premise. Luffy becoming "the chosen one" and the strongest character is in complete opposition to the initial premise of the story. Rembember when Oda suddenly made up a new backstory for Luffy, adding a second brother, who had never been mentioned before, because he had to provide us with at least some kind of explanation as to why Ace was Luffy's "brother", even though he was Roger's son and Luffy wasn't? That was really dumb! But it didn't actually go against the core ideas of the story, so it was acceptable, despite it clearly being a retcon. The issues got a lot worse later, but the writing quality of One Piece hasn't "suddenly" dropped, it has been steadily going downhill for at least the last 15 years! Only, at the beginning, it didn't really catch the audience's eye yet, because it wasn't that bad....yet.@@fromnoonon
@@petermuller9480 agreed completely. To me this issue is so glaring now though because the small amount of redeeming plot points or character developments have dropped off the map in favor of nika screen time / unnecessary world building. Like I said, even in Dressrosa we have Usopp character involvement and development. The flanderization piece of it is just how the characters were always written, but they had parts of them that were fleshed out that made them more than just the tropes. Now we don't get those parts at all, and that didn't start until post Dressrosa really. I don't think you're wrong at all, the writing issues and character problems have been going on since chapter 1 truly lol but the problem is that the story is becoming unforgivable with how much oda is just glossing over the morsels of quality we used to get. I'm saying it's reaching a point of being irredeemable, not saying it used to be perfect.

It's been a while since I read/watched Wano so I could be way off
so for your question about enel and him being rubber...could it be that he believed he was rubber so the imagination to reality aspect of his fruit just sorta...made him? rubber? idk almost feels like a stretch..hahah
Hahah I think this is legit. Or if it’ll just be like that he still has rubber properties. Surely they’ll make it all work right?
@@xgio I want it to end in a really really good way
One Piece is not changing, nor is it getting worse.
Definitely appreciate the comment but not sure I understand where the heat is coming from
Also your name is phenomenal haha
@@CaptainPieBeard all i can say is fully agree across the board here man. thank you for this incredible commentary too. i hate when people jump into thinking any criticism means you're saying it's bad or aren't a fan. one piece is still my favorite shit and i've been reading it for 20 years
@@fromnoonon man, you gave way too kind of a respond for a very aggressive comment. You're too polite man
I don't remember the sourcd, but I remember some ibterview where Oda mentioned he realized he went overboard with the characters in Wano.
Inshallah your vision is true and pure. I have faith.
about Zoro's backstory
Zoro doesn't care about his own backstory
and why would you give an origin for a character that doesn't want it
it would feel out of place for Zoro, to learn about his family and feel something about it
you did Luffy wrong with the cover art!! lmao
LOL
Big L here, the story is still very much the one piece that I have loved the entire time, and it is still going strong on its core ideals. Luffy isn't going to do anything because he's the chosen one, he has his own motivations not defined by his devil fruit. Its ok if the main cast takes a sideline for important developments such as momo and his retainers. Its happened before with marineford. Everyone has their turn - Pedro/Roger
There are still many mystery's that need answers and everyone still has room for improvement and development.
Oh but this is the exact conclusion I arrive at at the end of the video! I agree with you
@@fromnoonon Yeah now I wish I waited before commenting that. lol.
Oh man! This is not what I said in the video at all lol
I love one piece (still) and read the new chapters every week they release. Criticism isn’t saying I don’t like it
L take, most longtime one piece fans consider egg head to be one of the best arcs in the entire series
and i do too
@@fromnoonon that opinion is mutually exclusive with the one you expressed in the video, I agree that wano had its weak points but egg head is every bit as good as the best pre time skip arcs
Yesssss I’ve been saying this 🔥🔥🔥
I think Noon my favorite
what's your favorite arc??
@@fromnoonon idk what an arc even is! so silly!

Bro ranted for 14 minutes claiming to have watched OP for past 2 decades but never noticed the broken power scaling from as early as Loguetown itself and forgot about Haki and didn't fully understand the Awakening.

What are you going on about?

Perfect time for me!
I thought he was the racist since when was he sexist
