Yours is the Chanel haute couture show commentary I wanted to hear because I knew you would be classy and kind. The way Chanel management has treated VV is shameful and gross. I hope you feel better soon. Take good care of yourself.
I’m shocked she didn’t get her final bow! I thought the collection was beautiful. Safe on the hair accessories I agree. Good commentary. Dacob’s coverage has been fantastic. Thanks for linking to him. You are world class Jess!
Turning off comments and not even “allow” or ‘having” Virginie to have a final bow goodbye says a lot about the company/brand. This collection is really speaking to me. Love it!!!
I don’t believe she was let go, I believe that something occurred which made her decide to leave the company immediately. You wouldn’t be taking a bow under those circumstances because you wouldn’t want to, plus it wouldn’t be allowed as you’d no longer be an employee. If she’d decided to leave on good terms Chanel would have announced a final collection and she’d have bowed out with all the pomp and ceremony that deserved. If you truly love your work, you’ll tolerate many changes but the day does eventually come where you decide you’re too old for this rubbish… and off you go. Equally, once you’ve worked for yourself, it’s a big challenge taking direction/orders from others again so I’m not sure some of those older, established designers would want the job for long. Interesting times.
The problem with Virginie Viard her previous collections were Quite Outlandish and Bizarre that made people criticize either She’s sabotaged Chanel’s Class or she’s trying hard to Make Chanel different plus throughout the years Chanel’s styling from celebrities in the carpet had downgraded
Great review! This was my favorite collection by Virginie Viard, so classy, poetic and rock at the same time. Something shady is going on behind closed doors. She should have been on the stairs at the end saying her last goodbye to the brand to which she dedicated her life.
Chanel’s arrogance, it’s so loud and turning off comments, so childish and in some ways, they are a bully. They try to silent people on IG who uses hashtag Chanel by deleting people’s accounts by way of Instagram and no different here. Virginie deserves her flowers, we know what we had, we don’t know what we’re going to get. I wish Virginie all the best. Chanel, good luck!
Ugh. Seems like a real management issue. I think there is more than we even know yet…and we likely won’t figure it out. They def did Virginie so wrong.
Think about this. She had the opportunity to work under Karl and She never gave the vibe that she cared about how she looked herself? Hair always looked a mess and body language was frumpy. Why’d anyone would think that it’s a surprise that she would leave? It had to have been so stressful for her. Yes I had to say that!
Virginie might have just been over everything and left not wanting any fanfare. I legitimately would not accept to take this position. Can you imagine the pressure? If it’s not universally loved the designer will get lambasted! Then a lot of those who made fun of Virginie will be saying “oh she was much better blah blah…”
fashion houses need to know it's different times and most people no longer have the disposable income to spend on luxury stuff, and it is not an investment as once was labeled . Also, once you become frugal and minimalistic you realize it is quite satisfying and you don't really want to go back to unnecessary spending on "stuff" that sits in a closet. Those days are over and designers do not need to push fantasy, unless it's Hollywood, they need to design in the real world. But at the end of the day, even big $$$$ fashion houses should show some respect to their workers cause it leaves a bad after taste in the consumers mouth, and that sticks for a long time.
This collection is the closest to the style of Gabrielle Chanel I've seen. Shame Virginie was let go. She kept the continuity going. I dread to think what's going to happen now. Chanel will probably end up with ridiculous designs like Balenciaga or Mugler.
I found it sad. I liked her gentle elegance and her clothes looked like garments for women who move and are real. Very like Coco, who wanted to get rid of corseted attire. I liked the way she seemed to want to rid women of uncomfortable nonsense that made them look like froufrou poodles or prisoners in need of being freed from the trappings that stifle their humanity.
Agree! Some really good looks here. This is one of my favorite Virgine Viard Chanel HC shows - and it’s not just the instant nostalgia. I certainly have increased respect for her & what she was likely dealing with as management’s (=the owners’) directives all these years. I would 💯wear that over-the-top ultra-80s wedding dress! 🤍 “Such fun!” 🎀
Hi Jessie, you are looking fresh and I see a black hair scrunchie which when they are large like the one you are wearing is just as cute as a hair bow! Lovely 💗Yes, Chanel shut the comments down which I knew they would, they cannot tolerate criticism at this point.....thanks for giving us your take on the Chanel drama!
It was sad to see that she wasn’t credited. I do hope she left of her own accord and is enjoying retirement. I think you summed up why I liked a number of her pieces - cutesy 80’s with a touch of rock I always thought the show staging at a lot of her shows could be better but if Chanel are cost cutting she may not of had much of a say in it
I find it VERY INTERESTING that the news (international, U.S. etc) isn’t reporting any of this!! ……it’s a really big deal that she just QUIT her job after DECADES with Chanel!! Obviously the corporate hush is very real!!!
I believe she left on her own accord as well. It’s sad that the timing was just before the show. Too bad there wasn’t a way to recognize her hard work on the collection. Chanel should have given her the recognition she deserved. Something so simple would have made them look so much better during this.
I like the uniform black bows on the model. I'm sure she left on her own. And when your ready to go in a hurry you could care less about the pomp and circumstance
Beautiful collection despite the unfinished elements (according to Super Dacob). It's clear the people in charge of Chanel are motivated only by profits and don't mind completely watering down the brand, as well as treating their creative talent like crap. Furthermore, it's gross how fashion "journalists" are choosing to regurgitate the BS fed to them by Chanel. Virginie obviously designed these pieces, and the pettiness of Chanel towards her indicates how untenable the situation at the company had become for her to leave.
I hope that Marc Jacobs doesn't go to Chanel, as his brand is fun and reasonably priced; everything Chanel isn't. He's doing pretty well on his own. Also, Chanel would stifle his style and whimsy. It's not like they've done anything fresh and new for a long time (with the exceptions of a few pieces and bags) and the quality has been lacking for years. The price increases are insane, too, especially given the lack of quality and innovation. Virginie will be better off doing her own thing, as she really didn't get to shine at Chanel and I'm sure if she had her own brand or a brand she'd have more creative control, she'd be far more edgy, innovative and fun without the direction of "the powers that be" at Chanel.
I am certainly NOT interested in watching CONCEPT clothes. I love the more practical clothes with a little flair. I am glad V. didn't WASTE that beautiful fabric on NON-WEARABLE nonsense clothes. I wish her well...
I’m sorry but these designs look like they’re stuck in the past century. Who’s wearing all that Tweed? Maybe it’s time for a new version or a shakeup with these clothes. And handbags IMO.

Thanks so so much Miss Mary Black!!!🌹

thanks for your thoughts Stevie!
We don’t really know whose choice it was for her to leave.
you’re literally my comfort person i love you *gtdupe* !

True! Maybe a younger designer would be the answer
Thanks urban gypsy!!
Your and Dacobs videos are always so great… both the best! Thx for the insights n good vibes Jess💝
Thank you for your video. It is not only sad, it is vile. They are cancelling Virginie as if she never existed.
it really seems like that!

Super Dacob kind of spilled the tea that someone hypothesize that Chanel hiked up prices before they sell out or collapse.
Can you imagine!? It is possible though!!
Yes he's doing wonderful feed back on this. ❤
he is!!

That management will have trouble replacing her with any designer who has any self respect,. Good Luck !
indeed!! it wouldn't inspire other designers to go for the job!
I love that you acknowledge Virginie for this collection…because she design it….❤
Heartbreaking!
I liked seeing the reference and influence of Coco Chanel. It was a beautiful show.
I think this was her best collection
Think about this. She had the opportunity to work under Karl and She never gave the vibe that she cared about how she looked herself? Hair always looked a mess and body language was frumpy. Same!!! It would literally take over your whole life!! Thanks makeup 💄
i'm here for the cape, however everything else to me looked catered to older women. thinking trays mom bunny from SATC lol.

@@moca1296 wise comment.
That coat you commented on is beautiful!

right!? hahah it was a stand out last outfit!
I love the longer lengths of the skirts! The mini skirts are cute only if you’re under 40.
I thought it looked very old fashioned; like for senior citizens.
😂 i see what you mean!
Exactly 💯💯💯
True.
Thank you for discussing this! ❤
Any time!

Luckily you are one of the few people who covers this kind of scandal. Something fishy is going on there.
Who buys fancy what she was designing was super beautiful

Very insightful and informative
Super Dacob had some inside info.
Yesss 👍❤️
All those celebrities showing up like nothing , they know something was going on and no one mention Virginie at all………so hypocritical …I can’t ……
I was not really into Virginie’s designs but she always had some pieces I did enjoy, it says a lot about the company how they have handled her exit.
it really does...
The black hair bows are cute 🖤
😍😍😍the collection 🤍🖤💜
Let's do crowdfunding so Jessie can get this wedding dress👰💝
😂HAHAHA aw! Yes please help me live my puffy dress fantasy
😍

The rumor is jacquemus…would take control of Chanel for 1 or 2 seasons…….SuperDacob had the 🍵
Super dacob has all the tea

Lena's HR skills are shamefully rude. She's a robot no wonder they're going to use AI for design.
This is just so sad!
oh gosh....they can't let AI take over! Chat GPT is bag enought😅
I am certainly NOT interested in watching CONCEPT clothes. I love the more practical clothes with a little flair. I am glad V. didn't WASTE that beautiful fabric on NON-WEARABLE nonsense clothes. I wish her well...
I bet they wanted Virginie to read those mean comments from the Cruise collection to force her to retire.
so sad!
She’s gone. That’s all that matters.
And you have shelves of bags that all look alike yet you condemn Chanel's lack of innovation. That's pretty funny.
I think Virginie very much worked on this collection but Chanel is being pettyboots.
What the hell
indeed!
I, for one, am over the moon Virginie is History! Finally, CHANEL can rise like a Phoenix from the ashes of Virginie’s Nightmare!
Dont like this show. No bags
I’m sorry but these designs look like they’re stuck in the past century. Who’s wearing all that Tweed? Maybe it’s time for a new version or a shakeup with these clothes. And handbags IMO.
