- a video i put together with footage stills and pics of the stones during the exile era. travellin' man is an unreleased song recorded during the sticky fingers sessions and could of fit easily on the exile on main street album.
One of their greatest rockin' songs of all times. Possibly the greatest outtake of all time. Lovin it. The boys could rock.
I agree 100%, my friend
can..lol
Still Can!
Exile outtake I see
Yup yup
How did this song not appear on any Stones album. Mick Taylor is awesome. Charlie is the man.
This killer of a song is raunchier, hotter, and rawer than some of their best numbers ! And, Mick Taylor is just a fantastic guitarist !
Mick Taylor was their best guitarist, period...
Mick Taylor sounds like he never stops picking. He plays a thousand notes a minute and its fucking perfect always.
exile on main street is one of the greatest rock and roll productions of the 20th century
I absolutely adore this song !! Thank you for sharing
I love it! That's a good ole foot stomping and dancing song!! This song is definitely on my favorites Stones songs! ❤🎸🎸
God damn... Mick Taylor was a killer on guitar.
ABSOLUTELY BlazingWalter B.Memphis. 😛☠💥🎸💯
Only the stones could leave a song this good on the cutting room floor.
SERIOUSLY??????
Nicky Hopkins Groovy, Tasty plunking on the piano is what makes this jam TAKE OFF into the glorious
“Tulsa Sound” stratosphere…wOw!!!
💗 I was so lucky to grow up with “IT.”
I'm surprised this is left out of the album, this is pure gold, Stones in exile in its entirety !!!
Jagger just mumbles, so just a showboat for the other Mick. And Mick should have sung Happy! But alas, Rock Gods battle far beyond the walls of the mortal universe!
You just can’t sit still while listening; dancing my socks off on the kitchen tile floor!! 💃
💗
You said it! This is a foot stomping and dancing song! I love the beat! I'm a huge Stones fan and can't believe I just heard this song a few months on TH-cam while listening to the Rolling Stones, of course! I listen to it at least 3 or 4 times a day!
I don't remember this one, wow it's great, really rockin ❤❤❤
amazing how good their throwaways and toss-offs were - miles beyond anyone else at the time
You can tell from the first bars of this number that it is NOT a Richard composition. This is Mick Taylor leading the way and everyone else hanging on for dear life! A truly great unfinished cut, it is a shame it never got the attention is deserves. Its never too late fellas......do it live on the Zip Code tour.
Problem is unless one is a true Stones fans whenever they play a deep cut the casual fans (99%) of the audience sits on their rumps. Mick can't handle this so we have had the same war horses for years. Very few rock fans know the depth of the Stones back catalogue. I think their greatest songs are never played and unknown. That is why they always rank way down compared to other classic rock bands, but we true fans get it and always understood the greatness of the band. Just my opinion and everyone has a right to their own favorite.
No way Keith Richards could duplicate or even keep up with this song. Pry why you haven't heard All Down The Line in concert for about 20 years. Anyone who has watched a Stones concert since about 1998 can obviously see that Keith Richards is not holding up his deal of the bargain. Poor Woody and whoever the guy who sits behind the curtain and plays Keith's parts for him.
great comment, jbstonesfan :)
You're underestimating Keith. These days he's definitely not what he was with those gnarled knuckles and all but if you listen to live Stones from this era you'll know that him not being able to keep up is completely false.
spot on mate!
At the top of the their game during this time. Mick taylor years were insane
99% certain that's Keef
jesse wolf yes you’re right. I just meant the kick Taylor era in general
Mick *
jesse wolf no way keef can rip through or keep some of the vibrato mick puts in some of his licks in this song
jesse wolf possibly playing in the right ear channel just super low in the mix? maybe why this didn’t go further
This shows why the Stones deserve their reputation as a brilliant band. Loved to have seen them live then. I wouldn’t walk to the end of the street to see them live now. Big disappointment .It’s great to have this old track to hear how good they were then . Late sixties for the Beatles and early seventies for the Stones
Jeez, this is hot! I could dance to this stone sober. Mick T years were by far the best for the Stones imo.
I've never heard this until now. You're dead right about Taylor. He was prone to "going off on one". What a fucking player!
Another gem going right into my favorites!
nomadtraveller100 Right On!? Kudos to the Director! 🎸👅😸
Great tune 👌. Thanx 4 da post!
Yahoooo!
This is rock and roll.Keep going bros🎸💖xxxx RIP Charlie.x
SOUNDS...GREAT...wish they go back and finish some unreleased stuff for us fans.
I love these „unknown“ Stones songs!
One can only imagine what else is unreleased from this era! Wow, what a growl from MT's guitar!!!!
Lest we not forget Charlie and Bill..fantastic as always..that kick on the cymbals really gets it goin,it's a true collaboration of some of the best musicians to have ever been on this planet...also Nicky Hopkins on piano if I'm not mistaken
nicky the piano goat, yes!
@@denisliber6740 wow still here after 10 years 😀
@@crazycatlady68 i didnt expect an answer!
long live the stones! 🤩
All these people commenting here are like me stones in stone. Robert Toronto, Ontario Canada. Comments well done, people!
@@robertelder7685everyone on this thread of comments is certified Rolling Stones legit!!
Mick taylor all the way ladies and Gents !!! What a master!!
Asi es bro
The greatest mistake the Stones ever made was not doing WHATEVER IT TOOK,
to keep Mick Taylor in the band.
For starters, they could have PAID him.
He was given no credits on SEVERAL albums---in other words, no residuals.
In addition, his mates should have helped him with drug addiction and got him the help he needed to stay with the band. They did not...
With all due respect to Keith Richards---on Mick Taylor's WORSE DAY,
Keef couldn't hold a candle to him.
Make no mistake, Keith Richards is a very good guitarist.
Mick Taylor is a GREAT guitarist. A guitar genius.
Right up there with Hendrix, Clapton, and Santana.
No doubt about it.
The five albums he produced with the Stones from '69-'74 are all classics.
The band was never the same after 1974.
Mike was lead.
Keith was rhythm and always was.
I totally agree 👍🏻 ✌️❤️🌼
@@zeus-mt7wx They mixed it up a bit.
...agreed...he was key for their best musical output...'68 - '75
Your comment shows you dont understand the band history. They DID all they could to keep Taylor. Keef begged him to stay. Jagger suggeted him to take a 6-month break and come back. Taylor chose to leave. The money thing is debatable, since Charlie and Bill also did not receive as much as Keef and Mick. Woody himself was broke more than once while in the Stones. Years later, Taylor was broke because of his addiction and stated that leaving the Stones was the biggest mistake of his life. The Stones were much more than a specific guitar player. They were at the time the core and soul of rock and roll.
Micks vocals @2:55🎵ahh haa ~ ahh haa ~ haa haa haa🎵One cool lead singer/frontman. When the piano~Nicky Hopkins comes in it starts cookin’.
Love the black/white visuals!!!
💗
Recorded at Olympic studios in London, in October of 1970. The song was never released befor the re-edition for "Exile".
Lead Guitar & Solos: Mick Taylor Vocal: Mick Jagger Keyboards: Nicky Hopkins Drums: Charlie Watts Bass: Bill Wyman
Pretty sure Keith plays rhythm guitar also
@@Bklyn93 4/70 and I actually think that's Jagger on the other guitar
@@apollos_revival Agree it is clearly Jagger on guitar.
Amazing song, amazing band put together back then,Thank you😊
So good it's insane.
By God do we miss him? I had never heard this until about two hours ago. Been playing it non stop ever since.
...A monster of a singer, Jagger!
Some good lyrics in this , too bad they didn't finish it . ' on a high way , near a phone "
You Bet!! 🎵Ahh~Haa Ahh~Haa🎵
sitting in the neighbours garage getting drunk tonite , his I-Pod was going ." That sounds like a stones song , but , what is it ? " I ask . [ I know em all } " travellin man , sticky fingers , outake " Woah , how good is this !!??" never heard it before !!
his answer came out , between a yawn & sips of a libation ,right ?
Thats the sound of an Ampeg V4 amp .. excellent vintage rock sound.
it's a workhorse.
How have I missed this all these years. Awesome track!
Great rhythm pulsating beat and piano in the background. Another gem forgotten or deemed not good enough to release. Other bands would have jumped at it. Stones standards so high.
I really like this jam. I'd never heard it before and I've been dancing along with the Stones since 1964.
That Bass, wow man.
SO AWESOME,VOICE,MUSIC,VIDEO.EXCELLENT.
God I love this one
Mick Taylor and I suppose Nicky Hopkins on keys. Pretty damn good, single hit quality I would have thought.
Great track...Great vid...
stones outtakes really be better than a lot of bands' strongest releases.
I’m blown away, this is awesome 😍🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👍❤️🌹
More effortless brilliance from Taylor riding on a classic smacked Keef groove...
John O'Sullivan no keef riff here. All mick t
@@woody816 I`d argue with you here, my friend. Though Keith`s guitar is very quiet on this mix and MT`s, on the other hand, pretty loud, I can clearly hear Keith playing his bluesy riff on his transparent strtocaster somwhere in my right ear.
@@woody816 I Think Keith’s playing in the left side (ear bud).
why dont they release an album of some of these hidden gems? this song is superb, and mick taylor is/was superb.
Mick and Keith would need to give Mick T. a songwriting credit and neither of them are man enough to do it.
Mr. Taylor !!! 💚💚💚🔥🤸🤸🤸💥
Love love love 💕💕💕 this song! ❄️🌍❄️
first time ive heard this, thanks man
great song man
This song further proves that the classic rockers have more hidden talent than any of the current 'artists' will ever achieve. Great song by one of the greatest rock bands ever assembled, and it was never even released!
Chef-d'oeuvre !
60 années stoniennes dans ce morceau jamais réalisé...
Good tune man, they have some great sounds in the closet, unreleased. ❤❤❤
Fantastic, listening to it several times in a row but dont hear keith but mick taylor is great.
if you listen on earphones u can hear keith strumming some open chords in the left channel

Mick Taylor WE MISS YOU
Those guitars just flow and flow.
Masterpiece!
Imagine yourself flying down the highway in a classic Mustang or GTO, 4 on the floor, not a care in the world. That's this song.
'66 Goat with a 389, 3 deuce carbs and Muncie 4 speed Root beer brown and white interior ( almost bought one back in '76)
How 'bout a '68 Charger? lol
'66 Malibu, way jacked up. My first car, 1978. Always had the Stones cranked up!
Got that right 😁
@@jplew138 I’ll take my ‘2010 Challenger!!❣️
I come back and play this three, four times in a row. Fricken great! THE Roadtrip song and then some and then some more!
Nicky Hopkins was kick ass for this band
@@keeponrollin7922 yes!! Nicky H. boosted so many bands sounds into the stratosphere, doesn’t get enough credit.
My first time to hear. Thanks for the upload.
Great Song ! Love it !
Good find. Congrats!
if I heard this song, even being a huge Stone's and r&r fan, I would never have guessed it's THEM, fantastic
Mick T is playing strong as usual
Keep going forth and back. Awesome sound
I miss this time. Today the rock songs have to be around 3 minutes and not a minute more. 70's were way better.
Greetings form weert a southern country of the netherlands smoking weed stay healthy music lovers
Love this!!
What a jam! This easily could have made Exile!
Thanks for this one... It all comes back to me now.
Greatest rock'n'roll band.
Yesssss!🤘
Thanks for this post I thought I had heard all of the Stones music Can't say I ever remembering this song Thanks again
1 of GREATEST albums and song.
Sounds like the Allman Brothers jamming with the Stones. Wonderful stuff, Mick Taylor is sublime - the UK's Duane Allman and more.
Its the major penatonic riffing that makes it sound country
I hear more of the Tulsa Sound with Leon Russell and J.J. Cale…when the keys come in it starts Cooking … AFunky Groove Party!🎉
merci pour ce super morceau :-)
Wonderful jam by the stones. Taylor on fire and Watts and Wyman backing - you couldn't ask for more. Richards wad probably asleep dreaming of the next great song he would do bless .
Great song and video! Thanks for sending Mysterymusicgirl! ;)
This pics and music is amazing,of course the pics with Keith and Marlon when he was a little child ;-)))
Thanks for uploading this. Hell, now even I'm a "Travellin' Man"!
Charlie Watts is such a great drummer.
yeah, when Charlie hits that driving swinging groove nobody can touch him !! He's great at the slower ones too !
@@petermills2061 him and bill great rhythm section,no charlie no stones,no way
Yes he was RIP Charkie.
The band slummed and starved to be able to afford Charlie. He was already an established drummer; the Stones “golden ticket”. Love Charlie🕊️🥀
I see. Great work!
You did a great job putting this together!
The Rolling Stones : 50 years!!!
damn, great song! love the vid thing w the stills too... such a vivid time. (or is for me). oddly enough.. great freaking song. damn!!!!!!!
Damn this is too GOOD
Such a great album.
I did a little research on the world wide web and found that it was "recorded between 17 and 31 October 1970 in Olympic studios / Stargroves. But just a couple months before that (May 1970) the Stones recorded a song in the same studios called Travelling Tiger."
One of their greatest outtakes. I can't stop listening to it!
When your outake is better than most bands biggest hit you might just be the greatest rock and roll band of all time.
absolutly great... i love this song.. rock & roll
Great job. Great choice of song. Thanks man.
excellent. The Black Crowes had something of this in them...
IF THERE WAS NO MICK,THERE WOULD NEVER BEEN A BAND CALLED THE STONES.VERY TRUE.NO VOICE, NO BAND.
Merci pour cette inédite !;)
The perfect song to end a set with in bar. Play this, take 10, then his the stage again.

Love this, can't believe I've never heard it before! I shall be playing it again, repeatedly. Mick T and Keith are beautiful together.
