The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Two greatest female pop singers from British Isles, perhaps in the world, are Vera Lynn and Petula Clark. They had such a beautiful and impressive voice unlike others who just scream. It’s amazing she is only one besides Matt Munro and Tom Jones that their live performance is good as their studio recording. No one else can sing like her on live performance.

If you recognize the dress & the stage design you have a good memory because the original broadcast was three songs: These two songs, and "The Cat In The Window", which this channel posted separately a few months ago. So they took one performance and made two separate videos. Forgivable in this case because "The Cat In The Window" was the complete song while the two songs in this video were abbreviated versions.

Fabulous in every way. She was a REAL pro. She was extremely popular in England LONG before she hit it big in the US. All of her hits were written by Tony Hatch. So she had great songs to sing. Just like Bacharach and David wrote all of Dionne Warwick’s hit, Hatch wrote all of her hits except “This is my Song” which was written by Charlie Chaplin!!. These were magical collaborations we will never see again.

I really dont care for these two songs. The first one seems to be about a career goal not being reached and the second one seems to describe a roller coaster dating relationship. To me these songs are negative. Otherwise I like her voice, her performance. she wears a beautiful dress and I find her to be a very sexy lady. I saw her perform live at the Okeefe Center in Toronto Canada back in 1969. Of course she sang all her other hit songs and seeing her perform from 70 feet away was quite the thrill.

Petula Clark sang her hit songs with as real good clarity that highly pleased the audience as we all returned to her with hands clapping in high approval. In between songs, she briefly spoke about important personalities back in the day all in good clean cut fun. The lady has a good sense of humour really.
