Thankfully Lister made arrangements in her will so Walker went to a nice mental hospital that was ahead of it's time and probably would have been a life saver for Walker. Lister knew that Walker had major mental health problems in part due to so many of her family dieing so close together. I believe the hospital was recommended by the doctor Walker saw who was also Marianas' brother. I'm glad that even in the case of Lister dieing before Walker she still wanted her wife to be safe and healthy.
From what she experienced, and from what everyone wrote about her basic disposition, there are such circumstances where an institution, a good one, can be the proper place for a seriously ailing individual. I can’t begin to comprehend the amount of loss Ann Walker had experienced in such a tender, sheltered young life. The poor thing. I feel so sad for her.😢
Many women were rich and privileged. Anne was not lucky to be a rich 'bitch'. She made a choice to follow her heart, to love women. Many other women simply did not. Anne was courageous.
Ann didn't really go insane the fam just had her pronounced as for the the money reasons. Also I'm pretty sure the tale about her locking herself in her room etc. was not what actually happened. Also, she was only at the asylum for a short amount of time.
I just watched an interview with historians who are "experts" on Lister & Walker and they said the story about AW going crazy, locking herself in her room and smearing blood on tbe walls was NOT true. So happy to hear that!

The thing about Anne Lister marrying Ann, and whether or not she loved her as much as she may have loved some of her former, more intellectually equal paramours for example (which isn’t even a fair comparison to make, AW was significantly younger and far more traumatized by life than AL was), is that like according to the standards of the time and Anne’s own religious views, finding a true marriage companion for whom you have any sense of true emotional fondness, which is not to be doubted, that she cared for AW enough that whilst they were together, at least, AW’s mental health saw a vast improvement, and they loved each other enough to risk something by moving in together and writing each other into one another’s wills and all that, that’s a good enough of an arrangement as one can really hope for in a wealthy, landed partner. She was younger and very different match for sure, but it was a smart one financially, which was equally as important to AL, if not more so than finding a wife whom she truly loved. They probably had a very hard time relating to one another since their life experiences were so different, but an opposing personality type can also attract and even bring out traits in oneself that they may not recognize as positive at the time, but we never got to see AL looking back with hindsight on this match because she died so young. At the time, part of that was attributed to the loss of her parents and brother when she was still young. In that time period, little was understood about depression and anxiety. As far as Eliza Raines mental health issues, Raines was likely Lister's first love as a teenager; they broke up and Lister moved on. If you broke up with a boyfriend or girlfriend who struggled with the breakup and later had mental issues, would you be to blame? Is a person responsible for the mental health of someone they break up with?
That's not why the aunt was upset. It wasn't because she didn't want lesbians in her household. It was because she knew Anne didn't care about Ann. She only wanted the money. That's why. She wanted to protect her niece.

I know this because I have read almost all the books written on Anne Lister and Ann Walker, some twice and watched documentaries. Viewers, don't just automatically accept that this video is all true. Even the researchers and experts have different interpretations. Right here in the comments, there are given 2 opposite opinions from "experts" on whether or not Ann Walker smeared blood on her walls; one says NO, and the other says YES. Be wary. That one or the other of these narrators of this video don't know the meanings of some of the sexual slang should be red flag enough.
My advice it's that before doing a video talking and explaining the real history of GJ, you should have read and consult the real history based on documents and diaries that are available on the West Yorkshire web. Because you are so wrong, especially with what you say at the end of Ann Walker. It's clear that you readed the wikipedia so well jajajajajajaja
