Boy Gene's lucky to have friends like you and Mara Eric that would have been pretty expensive having it done at a shop. Good job guy's and thanks for the video.
Hey Eric, Glad to see you got the tensioner pulley refurbished and installed. The up grades on Gene's Jeep should be quite noticeable when taken off road. Take Care
I am old enough to remember when something broke it was rebuilt because a new part was insanely expensive. We have become addicted to cheap throw-away parts from China. There will come a time when those parts won't be available, and we will have to rebuild what we need.
I came across a channel of a Russian guy, in Russia, who needed to replace a wheel bearing on his little Russian whatever mobile. He hunted for months to get an American made (Timkin) replacement. He had a Chinese bearing (if he couldn’t find the American one) that cost $4.00. He finally found the Timkin, for $40.00 and he was happy as a clam. The dude hated Chinese everything!
I like to put a stud on the top hole or maybe two depending on location on the diffs. That way I can simply hang the cover in place and have two hands free to deal with the rest of the bolts. It helps keep the gasket good in place
I'm really liking the tech content, have fun at Sand Hollow, I was out in Nevada, Arizona , and Utah in January. The number of trails in that area is unbelievable.
When I worked in a production shop, change the pulley every time...time is money when you do it for a living. At home, on my own shit, change out the bearings and be done with it.
I remember hunting for where those front seals were, >20 years (and 300,000 miles) ago, on my 1st Gen Dodge. Chitlin's book didn't even give a hint that they existed. I finally gave up and put it all back together. Less than a year ago, I finally found a reference. But ... It has never leaked, oil has always stayed at the same level. They still show no signs of leaking (I was looking it over the other day). Not going to mess with them now, unless/until they go out or until I have to pull the gear for some other reason. Why mess with a good thing ???
IF they put an RCR fuel cell in that jeep, make sure they vaccum out the chips from inside the tank. A buddy of mine used an RCR fuel cell in his race car, and we got plastic shavings in his fuel lines and filters!!!!
I remember replacing the idler pully on 6.0 about 5 years ago its starting to make noise again, but that's the way goes nothing they make now last, great video keep up the good work God bless from GA stay safe
Eric. You’re a very easy going person! Always trying to take care of everybody. You sound like you’re burning the candle from both ends. Take care of yourself man. Take some time for yourself. Let your mind take a vacation. I apologize if I’m wrong.
When doing your piñon seal, apply some EZTurn lubricant. fuel and oil will not get past it! I have used it for years on aircraft engines! It is great Stuff!
Throw a screwdriver in the cooling fins of the rotor and let it bump up against the caliper to stop the axle from turning when torquing wheel spacers or even axle nuts.
Those outer axle seals act like a rubber boot, they do an ok job keeping the water out but eventually the water WILL get in and they do an even better job holding it in the axle tube...
@2:48... I hollered: "Hey Gene!" But, nobody heard me! @12:35... Oof, my back! Man, I thought you knew how to put tires on??? 😜😜 Don't lift to what you can lower. @12:45... At least Gene showed you his bright shiny nuts! 😂😂
Ya ain't getting no younger Eric! Fab you up a wheel handler for them tires! I made one outta a old dolly I had laying around.. put oversize solid tires on it to be able to change tires in my yard.. works a charm
Good morning just a suggestion be careful on lifting heavy stuff that you don't have to because you will have a bad back later in life i know from experience i am paying for all the foolish stuff I did
Those inner axle seal presses are the cats meow.
Great to see help for the YJ build.
$10.00 for bearing, not too bad of a price and quicker to fix.

Don’t forget to mention the Challenger lift made the repair process a whole lot easier! 😊
Definitely!
The jeep for the game is looking good. Enjoy watching the progress on everything you've been working on.
BSF Team (Family) growin by the day❤
Its sooo nice to have good friends
Nice of reinforcements to show up to help with the YJ. The off-road community has the best people.
That Challenger lift makes easy work of projects like that!
Your YJ will be a beast!
Hey Eric,
Glad to see you got the tensioner pulley refurbished and installed.

That is the intent. Budget build. Build with a limited budget. 🥴
I put those outer seals in my front diff. Make sure you clean and dry the axle tubes!!!!
Amazing job everyone can't wait to see the off-road games.
Love my Jeep and much love from Boston Massachusetts keep doing what y’all are doing 🫶🏻🇺🇸😍✌️😎
I really enjoy watching you work and explain what's going on. Keep up the good work. love your channel.

And ya gotta buy 10 of the Chinese crap ta get 1 that semi works.

It came we called it the pandemic.
Or find yourself an old lathe and turn your own parts out and sell to your friends and neighbors
So many things are more rebuildable than people realize and at much lower the cost. People are just lazy.
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Nice job you guy's are doing 👏

IF I remember right it 6203 bearings for the idler pulley. I used to do the same thing.
Great work Eric and Gene don't forget the spare. Look out Gene Myra will keep you honest. Come on Myra you don't want flames.

I took the seal/cover off my pulley and regreased it, 3 years ago and still good.

@@offroadrecoveryteam your welcome.
@@brucestephens2157I noticed that too.
Thanks for mentioning that, and making the excellent suggestions!
Take care all BSF team!
Thank you for showing all of us the behind the scenes work on your projects! Nicely done! 🙏❤️😎🤙🛻💨

Thanks for the info!
Love the YJ, owned a 95 YJ and sold it, worst decision I ever made.....you going to keep that YJ if it survives the wrecker games Eric?

I said oops same time you did Eric
i freaking hate when people pick up tires and dont just let the hoist down you will start when you blow out your back
We were so close we figured we could handle it. But the strugglebus showed up for the FOM
This comment is to help you beat that darned algorithm
Hey Eric !!! What about those "USELESS" press in ball joints on the jeep ?? 😂🙂🙂 Can't they be replaced with the ""OL"" bolt in ???🤔🤔😚
Will be replaced with better when they fail. Gotta get all the “goody” out of them😑
@@genedwg6689 Well hope you aren't in the woods when they let go !!
Who jeep are they building ur showing in video
👍😎✊
Why don’t you drop lift and put tire on ?? Save your back!!!! Then raise lift back up
I didn't think 33" tires would be that heavy.
And we thought we were young and strong, not FOM
Ya ain't getting no younger Eric! Fab you up a wheel handler for them tires! I made one outta a old dolly I had laying around.. put oversize solid tires on it to be able to change tires in my yard.. works a charm
I'm curious. Doesn't it upset your Mom living in the attached apartment with all the noise?
Lift with your back, not your legs, like Eric does!
LOL

Thanks for the tip
If I'd have known I would live this long, I would have been more careful.
This comment is to ask you why you're working on the wrecker outside when you have so much room in the shop. 5:10
Good deal why buy new when u can rebuild it yourself
Its cheeper to by on line and if you're not in a hurry to fix it might as well save some money

How dare you pound in bearings with a Chrome socket? I'm sure there's a rule against that 😅😅😅😂
The “notch” that worn on the edge of the fan yields 11% more power as a result of less wind resistance. 🧐🤪
