He bought us another 53 F100 and we was to build it when covid hit, he passed. Im slowly getting there but still far from a runner. Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ I had a friend with a 67 Bonneville with a 428 8 lug Wheels, absolutely impressive car. You my man definitely scored finding this gem 💎 Jess, beautiful job painting the center caps 👍 JD, it was funny you calling out your old man on butchering the floor pans 😂 I'm in agreement Dalton just drive it and have some fun, improve things as you go along. Thanks for all your hard work and awesome videos ✌️🇺🇲
3k for that sweet vintage Pontiac ??!! Are you serious ??!! Untamperd , with 428 c.i. stripped of any options ❤ Those OEM long tube exhaust manifolds are probably worth 3k alone !! Even with the rust molecules floor delete you're still , WINNING ‼️ 🏆 You CAN'T lose on this particular car .
Dalton, you've got some competition there my friend. Your son is a smart guy, it's also nice to see someone of the younger generation taking an interest in something other than their phone. Most set with their noses in it 24/7. Stay the course young man, YOU ROCK.
Dalton, I love this car! You’re going in the right direction. Fix the brakes, get the carb fixed and then drive the shit out of it! Along the way you can clean up the interior, and get other things, like the speedo and maybe a heater working and just enjoy it. I think one thing you could do is wire brush the interior roof and Rustoleum flat black it and you’d be happy. It sounds amazing and looks like that motor is a beast, so drive it!
This is easily my fav get it going video. I’ve watched countless “get it running, and back on the road” videos. By far, yours(this one) is THE BEST ONE! BRAVO! It was ALL UPHILL! YOU ROCK BUD! I was a Pontiac guy in the 60’s. I had a ‘63 Catalina, 2 Dr hardtop, 389, 4V, 3 spd manual on the column, switched to the floor, with posi. It was a weird combination of stripper, but had some weird options like a factory Motorola Reveb unit in the trunk. No rugs, a rubber mat. It was my first full size car.
Now that's a nice surprise on a Saturday afternoon to see a PBG video with a real rare car. Ppl are gonna stop calling it craigslist rebuild and start calling it PBG special lol.
Mr. Jealous, the Poncho lover here. I have never seen a stock 428 run or perform (I've seen a few at car shows). I was immediately hooked when I saw what you got. That thing is BAD ASS! NO amount of rust could delete the pure enjoyment that 428 H.O. provides. I was thinking put it into a GTO, but after watching the test drive (and burnout), KEEP the 2+2 complete! I used to have a '67 Buick Wildcat w/ a 430. There is nothing like seeing an old "beater" land barge pouring tire smoke out of the fender skirts! Congrats, and Enjoy.
I love the fast motion on the remove the rear drums was Great. Your Tuff. Just remember what Your Grandfather would Say. 😂 Your are the Best TH-camR . And Your numbers are going Up.
Another great video. That was fun. My dad bought a 1957 Ford county cop car in about 1963. It was bare bones too. Not even a radio. But it did have the spot light and a 312 Police Interceptor engine with 3 on the tree.. I got to drive it on weekends. It also had an alternator at a time when all other factory cars had generators.
New dream car unlocked, I consider myself a big Pontiac fan I have NEVER heard of this car and instantly fell in love as soon as you started describing it and then started it up good lord… now I need to find one
Definitely a cool car with a cool story. Bring something like this to a car show most people would think it's a clone since it has a factory bench seat and it's a column shift. With the potential of your grandfather working on this car at the factory, It definitely needs to be preserved and not changed.
Another beautiful pontiac you are becoming the patron saint of pontiac. Please save the old girl. They don't need to be perfect just keep them on the road or send them on to someone to appreciate and finish them up. You represent all of us with "pole barns" and projects. You show us what we can do with what we got. And remind us about not forgetting the fun. Thank you
This thing is a beast! It'll pass damn near anything aside from a gas station! You may want to borescope down into the cylinders and see if it's been punched out at all. Regardless, it runs like a scalded dog! Cant wait to see the exhaust done on it! Ride on Beauford!
One of your best episodes ever! I especially liked the note on accumulating the proper sheet metal over time, thoughtfully, and drive the vehicle until you can do the body in one go. Solid practical advice. Thank you PBG team. This one was a well put together episode. I might even make a purchase from your sponsor.
The throttle control is a very rare option usually for police type vehicles or ordered by farmers My 60 impala has one There is supposed to be a cable to the brake pedal to shut it off when braking Mine works great
This is maybe your best video. You've got an incredibly rare car to begin with and in an hour and a half you managed to get it into really decent shape. Going by the underside of the deck lid looks like it was originally burgundy in color. Keep up the good work!
The sound. When you first pulled it forward man, that's why I am the way I am. Stay safe oh man just heard you start it the second time lol! Gettin over something, just danced the crown vic around 2 round abouts, helped alot too. Thank you for real. You're a born racecar driver.
I could tell when you gave it right at the beginning of the video that thing was spicy as heck. I am right there with you, it's a really badass car. I wasn't sold on the looks originally but actually it grew on me significantly. I'mm gonna bet the reason the sherif that owned it had it on manual steering was he steered it with the gas pedal most of the time.
Dalton this is seriously awesome! I can't wait to see this old girl get a new lease on life! As Derek from VGG would say, this is DEFINITELY a going to town rig!
Bought a 1967 Catalina 4 door sedan back in 2014. Replaced shocks, stainless brake lines, master cylinder, brake booster and front disc conversion. Petronix electronic points conversion. New aluminum radiator and hoses. New tires and wheels. Now in the process of fitting new exhaust but everytime I touch a bolt it breaks. Can't wait to get her big ass back on the road. They are fast even with the 400. You did an incredible job. Enjoy it!
Hey Dalton, just a suggestion. Get you a small sandblaster from HF and get you some walnut blasting shells and you can blast around the frame and suspension areas to remove the surface rust and then you can treat the metal with paint. The walnut shells won’t be too abrasive and it’s cheap. Just some ideas that may help out. Great video and great find!
@@PoleBarnGarage Yeah it can be a pain in the @$$ as it can get very humid here in Indiana. I’ve had the best luck with black diamond sand but it can take a lot out very quickly. And it’s expensive unless you can recover it with a tarp. I think last year I used extra fine walnut and that worked pretty well. I feel like I also removed the sacrificial tip and that helped with the walnut 🤔. Getting ready to start on a 53 Plymouth Cranbrook Belvedere that I will have to get the walnut treatment soon. If I have a foolproof method figured out I’ll pass the info down.
Another name for the dissimilar metals reacting is Galvanic Corrosion. Also known in electrical terms as a dielectric, since the two metals are actually reacting electrically.
Always love a new PBG video from the PONTIAC king. EDIT : This is probably the nicest car you've bought and one of my favorites. I've never heard of it before, so that makes it fun, too. The smile on Jess's face when you test drove it was priceless. You lucked out in finding a woman who is as much of a motorhead as you are.
57:16 Dalton, don't apologize. 😉Rebuilding these floors with actually new sheet metal? ... is already a thousand percent better than throwing old number plates with self tappers in it. The trunk floor turned already out absolutely great and I'm sure with a little McGyvering the floorpans will be solid and durable for the next 40 years also. Absolutely love the whole build! 👍👍👍 59:02 🤣🤣🤣 love it ! 1:00:45 Ahahahaahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can't breathe. 🤣
I have a 69 GMC SWB. Got a wild hair, decided put a 460/C6 in it to pull an implement trailer. I used a oil pan from a E250 . Motor looks made for it. Once you hit high speed 69 Vac booster brake drums will not hold in a panic stop. You can smell them trying but they can't do it. I love my pickup. I enjoy your vids and love that Indian Chief Land Yacht.
Yes, what you have here is special....and I really look forward to what you do with this one. I will always look to you for being the go-to guy for Pontiac....this one is a gem! Wishing you well.
I have a 64 Catalina Ventura Sports Coupe, this car reminds me of when I first got it. No carpet, no headliner, rust in the trunk. It's a California car and has been sitting in a barn since '79. Numbers matching the original 389 w/2bbl with a little blowby married with roto-10 hydramatic that gets a little hot. I just got the correct gas tank+sending the unit because the previous owner put the wrong tank on her. I'm jealous because you're lucky to have the 8-Lug wheels and factory floor mats, I'm still waiting for mine from OPGI. Nice video and I love the sound of that beast!
The throttle lock isn't originally meant for cruise control. they are meant to set rpms while parked to charge the battery faster. They were also used on semi trucks to build air faster or run hydraulic systems. For cop cars it would be to run lights and radios without running down the battery. Everyone just happened to use them for cruise.
That thing is an ANIMAL! Get that thing a bit more right and mount some belts in it and bring it to Norwalk for the Pontiac Nationals next year. Get some passes on the best track in the country! Summit Motorsports Park does have lots of shutdown. 😁
Definitely keep that Pontiac. The power of that motor is amazing slowly fix it up as you drive it. That’s something you will not see often on the road and definitely go to duck tape drags with that car.
You actually could get a 67 2 + 2 with disc brakes. I drag raced mine so put a fuel cell in it I still have the stock fuel tank if interested. One more thing they did not all come with a 3:43 posi. Mine was ordered with a 4.11 posi which made a big difference in performance at the drag strip.
The Pontiac spoke to you in that 15 min ride. It said, " I AM WORTHY" 🔧🔨⚙ 🏁 That's a sexy car. Call it "Breaking the Law" on behalf of the Sheriff. Looking forward to more on the 2 + 2 ☮✌🏻
What a cool ass car. Good find. The drive train and brakes are probably worth twice what you paid to the right guy. I know doing things the long and complete way isn't great for YT metrics, but I'd sure like to see this thing get saved and restored.
That engine is a damn hot rod unit, it'll be amazing with a rebuilt carb. I've always heard that you can't kill the torque of a Pontiac, no matter how wild the cam is you stab in it. It's like Pontiac's version of a hardtop Impala coupe.
I love the look and sound of this thing!!! Great find. Also, has JD grown by 2 feet in the last year? He's gonna be patting you on the head in no time dad ;)
As an Australian I am envious of your ability to be able to get cheap classic muscle cars, down under its a thing of the past, that car is a bloody belter , I hope you keep it around 👍
Im so happy to see this! Im 62, when I was 17, my dad gave me his 66 GTO that had that same 428 that he had put a Ram 3 cam in, and it was and is the fastest cars I have ever owned! Im jealous!
That motor should have been the silver blue like you painted it. The motor ID is on the front of the block below the passenger head, and the vin is below the code just above the pan. Early 67s came with afb carbs and later came with Q-jets.
Love the old Pontiacs. I had a '68 SJ Grand Prix with the 428 HO. 390 HP as I recall. I really enjoyed this video. I agree...drive as is and make little improvements along way. "Perfection" is very often the enemy go "good enough."
Notice the quick cutaway after the swig of AG1 so we didn’t see the struggle to actually swallow it. 🤢 I’m sorry but I don’t buy for a second that you use it everyday. And if you are it’s only because they are sponsoring it and giving it to you. With how frugal you portray yourself to be there’s no way you’re going to pay $79+ a month for that. It’s been proven time and time and that AG1 is extremely overpriced and there are way better products out there for far less money.
$79 a month is stuff all when it comes to your health, and clearly you don't know this channel very well, I've been a follower for a long time and he wouldn't back something he doesn't think works.

Not sure if you noticed but the window sticker stated "3 Speed Floor Shift", which was included in the 2+2 Sport package. I believe the car may have been converted to a column shift sometime after it left the factory.
No, on the build sheet it shows turbo-hydramatic. The way the red outline is done on the paper makes it difficult to see. If he could make a better copy (of the whole sheet it might be easier to read.) The window sticker shows turbo hydramatic for $226.00.
On my one and hopefully, floor patching on a c10, I used stainless steel rivets and used black indoor/outdoor window and door caulk. Like you, added sound deadening mats and a rubber floor mat. Sometimes there are few options, but what a great car you found!
Behold the brilliance ! Yes, these cars are great, but this particular one with it's spec and history is really very special. My favourite of the Pole Barn fleet. Oh man, that sound. There must be stories to be told, and perhaps even old photographs, of this old Sheriff's special. So glad to see you so pleased with it, Dalton. Smiling and laughing and also looking at that speedo when you kicked it down. And you build your cars the EXACT same way I do. You may not read this long of a text but long story short, my true first build with my dad was a 53 Ford F100. Was gonna be my 16th birthday truck. His company closed and we sold it. He bought us another 53 F100 and we was to build it when covid hit, he passed. Im slowly getting there but still far from a runner. Just so you know, It's because of this channel I want and wish I could make my own channel. Keep up the great work man!
Untamperd , with 428 c.i. stripped of any options ❤
Those OEM long tube exhaust manifolds are probably worth 3k alone !!
Even with the rust molecules floor delete you're still , WINNING ‼️ 🏆
You CAN'T lose on this particular car .
What a steal!
Absolutely totally agree. man. Cool as beast of a car. Find another one....Might take a while aye???
I think a headliner is fairly inexpensive, and definitely needs new seat foam and upholstery. I can do most of that in house though to keep it cheap
Ooo the reverb. Very cool
Awesome job on those caps, Jess! She's right there rooting you on when you floored that car! Awesome job, dalton. 😊😊😊😊
Now that's a nice surprise on a Saturday afternoon to see a PBG video with a real rare car. Ppl are gonna stop calling it craigslist rebuild and start calling it PBG special lol.
I didn't get it until Saturday evening here in the UK for some reason? You'd think the video's are up all over the world at the same time?!
@@Brooke52528 Members get it earlier.
Love those 428 SD motors. You are right, it's perfect for the duct tape drags!
Thanks!
Thanks as always man
Cheers Mate! 🍻
Thank you!
I love the look of the black drums with the 'machined' fins.
I love the fast motion on the remove the rear drums was Great.
Your Tuff. Just remember what Your Grandfather would Say. 😂
Your are the Best TH-camR .
And Your numbers are going Up.
"get the hell over it" 😂
Another great video.
It's the Pole Barn Garage "Pontiac 428 2 + Screw". This is my favorite PBG cars!
New dream car unlocked, I consider myself a big Pontiac fan I have NEVER heard of this car and instantly fell in love as soon as you started describing it and then started it up good lord… now I need to find one
WOW she did a damn nice job painting those hub caps! She came out like she was holding a big plate of fresh hot Christmas cookies
Heck yeah, Jess did a great job!
Thank you
I'm glad you get it man, I'm afraid this car might have been parted out if I didn't snag it
THIS ONE IS A KEEPER!!!!! Really you should keep it and work on it when you can. 😍😍😍
You should do a shirt that says "2+2= Holy shit!!" With the 2+2 emblem. I loved both of your reactions on that first full throttle stomp.
I am so proud of you buying pans instead of using the roof off and old LTD or some such. This is a damn fine car- I love it
I really hope to see more of this car! Nothing beats a beefy full size GM
These cars are ten times cooler than you even think. Hope you keep it. Great stuff bud
The throttle control is a very rare option usually for police type vehicles or ordered by farmers My 60 impala has one There is supposed to be a cable to the brake pedal to shut it off when braking Mine works great
I shall very much enjoy watching this tonight, at work, on overtime at time-and-a-half
Re started the video lol that sound.
I love these big old Pontiacs. My friends dad had a 67 convertible and then a 66. My friend has that car now. My grandpa had a 65 4 door.
Enjoy it!
Def my fav car of yours so far! I think this one might deserve some extra "love" on down the road! Great video! A+++++
Hey Dalton, just a suggestion.
I've tried on of those but I had so much trouble with moisture in the media
@@PoleBarnGarage I bet you could bake the media at low temperature to evaporate it out.
@@PoleBarnGarage to much moisture hate when that happens
59:02 🤣🤣🤣 love it !
1:00:45 Ahahahaahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can't breathe. 🤣
Love this one man - great job! Personally, wasn't familiar with the car, did some googling on it, HP and torque numbers, crazy! Thank you, once again!
Totally gotta repaint it back to it's maroon color. Very elegant
Awesome 428 HO car... exactly what we subscribe for,,, let the self tapping begin... great content Dalton...
It is meant to prevent carbon buildup in the engine. The low RPM’s from idling for hours is terrible on an engine.
Far out, man! That is one gorgeous ride, the epitome of a sleeper hotrod! 👍 Love the tugboat sound at idle.
Kudos for keeping that Q-jet!
It said, " I AM WORTHY" 🔧🔨⚙ 🏁
That's a sexy car. Call it "Breaking the Law" on behalf of the Sheriff.
Looking forward to more on the 2 + 2 ☮✌🏻
One of your better finds for sure. I think a restoration as you go would be just fine.
What a cool ass car. Good find. The drive train and brakes are probably worth twice what you paid to the right guy. I know doing things the long and complete way isn't great for YT metrics, but I'd sure like to see this thing get saved and restored.
If I did it TOO right I would never drive it, but I would like to get a proper floor in it
@@PoleBarnGarageThat car was made to drive.? ?
I’m a Ford guy personally, but I must admit that 428 sounds badass. Can always appreciate the classics. Regardless of brand! Love the videos bud!
I have seen a lot of stuff in all my years but I have never seen wheels and hubs like those. That is the coolest.
Right on time! I was wondering if you'd upload something this week, because you weren't feeling well. This is going to be good again!
That engine is a damn hot rod unit, it'll be amazing with a rebuilt carb. I've always heard that you can't kill the torque of a Pontiac, no matter how wild the cam is you stab in it. It's like Pontiac's version of a hardtop Impala coupe.
You made the right decision doing TH-cam for a living brother! It’s so awesome that you get to work with your son!❤
Thank you Dalton
I love the look and sound of this thing!!! Great find. Also, has JD grown by 2 feet in the last year? He's gonna be patting you on the head in no time dad ;)
Yes that's a fact
As an Australian I am envious of your ability to be able to get cheap classic muscle cars, down under its a thing of the past, that car is a bloody belter , I hope you keep it around 👍
She’s absolutely stunning, I can’t look away.
Good enough. I had a 1968 Bonneville and the same problems due to window seal failures. Still worth doing what you can. Thank you...
Love the old Pontiacs. I had a '68 SJ Grand Prix with the 428 HO. 390 HP as I recall. I really enjoyed this video. I agree...drive as is and make little improvements along way. "Perfection" is very often the enemy go "good enough."
Greeting from Switzerland
16:39 Dalton gets younger 😂
Dalton man I would be proud to have that in my driveway ! Keep doin what your doin ! It’s fantastic content and enjoy everything you are doing! Thank you man !!
Ps. You now have me looking for one of these beasts on the marketplace !!!
So natural, I’m in awe.
On my one and hopefully, floor patching on a c10, I used stainless steel rivets and used black indoor/outdoor window and door caulk. Like you, added sound deadening mats and a rubber floor mat. Sometimes there are few options, but what a great car you found!
AMAZING!! realy informative, creative, and a lot of fun. i was delaying a restomod project and after this I'm gonna go ahead. Thanks
The reactions from both you and Jess on the first drive were a real treat. Thank you.
"Commence the tappage" 😂
1:19:54 - What a badass car!
I love to watch all your Videos. Everyone one of them makes me laugh out load at least once an episode and I want to thank you and your crew for that . Keep up the good work
