    I have my Pelagos 39 for almost 2 weeks now, my bezel also felt "gritty" at first, but after playing with it for some time it now feels just as smooth as any other Tudor diver bezel imo. Obviously, mine doesn't come off when gripping it though...
    Also I honestly love the "pointy" shield, it looks great and makes it easy to open the clasp, but it never hurt my finger, it's not like it's a knife point after all.
    The titanium makes it incredibly light weight, it's a pleasure to wear all day every day.
    I might be biased as a owner, but overall I love the watch and it's specs. It might not be the most exciting watch, but it's the best diver for my personal preferences for sure, it just wears too good and comfortably.
    Still, great review though!

      Also had mine for about a month, never had the pointy shield issue as i always open the clasp as how the sales person demonstrated at the Tudor boutique: using your thumb and index fingers to grab the sides of the clasp instead of using your finger nail on the shield. The lume on the hands are definitely weaker than the hour marks. It’s a little disappointing. Wish they have fixed it by now but I suspect it had to do with the depth of the lume material not nearly as thick as the hour marks, probably something hard to fix at the point without major redesign. My observation with the bezel is that it has a little bit back and forth play in any position other than 12 o’clock. Not sure if it’s common with all timing bezels as it’s my first movable bezel watch.

    I have this watch and I’ve asked the AD to send the bracelet back to Tudor. It’s so damn sharp and uncomfortable. Hoping they can polish some edges.
    Also, the Shield on the clasp!! Who ever thought that was a good design?! It’s cut me up a number of times. Whilst the bracelet has gone back, I’ve been wearing it on the rubber which is very comfortable and looks really good as long as you don’t mind the casual look.
    The bezel is totally fine but 60 click is a little disappointing and certainly not the best quality out there. Aesthetically, the bezel looks great.
    The dial however, under direct light is like a mirror and feels a bit cheap. Bizarrely, when the watch sits on your wrist and is viewed from a steep angle it looks fantastic and is more legible than any other watch I’ve seen.
    You really have to question their decision on the lume on the hands. You can see the rest of the watch clearly at night just not the hands.
    Finally, the size for me is perfect. It sits on the wrist much better than a modern Sub.
    I’m conflicted over this watch. So much to love, let down by strange design decisions and possibly a lack of QC before the watches leave the factory. Alas, the perfect watch doesn’t exist.

    Your criticisms are all valid. I agree that Tudor has slipped up here a bit. That clasp is downright dangerous. The bezel action and the fact it popped off in your hand is simply not acceptable. Thanks for the cold hard facts , I appreciate it when a reviewer tells it like it is.

    After years of watching watch reviews I always thought the wimpiest complaint I've ever heard was reviewers whinning about having to pull their watch's crowns out an extra 1/16 of an inch to get past the God aweful, life ruining "Ghost Position", with some even declaring a ghost position on a watch as a "Buy/No Buy" item. • @cedshred1676

    I’ve heard about the shield stabbing issue before, such a design flaw. I think your friend has a lemon. Bad bezel, bad lume. Tudor has a history of making the occasional lemon, such as the BB GMT with the date issue. I’ve heard people say it’s fixed, then I read about refurbished BB GMTs having the same issue.
    Btw, not sure if you know, but Tudor uses the “hot swap” service model. Meaning, you send in your Tudor for service and they pull out your movement and plop in someone else’s refurbished movement. Then your movement is serviced and is put in another watch sent in for service. Some people don’t care, but I do. I want MY movement serviced and put back into MY watch.
    Kenissi makes many of the Tudor movements now, so I don’t consider the movement in this watch “in-house,” even though Tudor owns 80% of Kenissi. Kenissi movements are used in multiple other watch brands and every one calls theirs “in-house.”
    Also, remember Tudor SA has never manufactured a single watch component, and never will. They are an assembly/testing/marketing company. However, they do use high quality all Swiss third-party components, so they make quality watches at reasonable prices.

    I have huge problems with the bezel on my Pelagos 39. Whenever I have contact with water on the watch, the bezel becomes difficult or impossible to turn until the water drips out or dries out. I sent it to Tudor, who replaced the ball bearing on the bezel. Despite the service, I still have the same problem. We even tested the Pelagos models 39/42 at AD under water, they all had the same problem, that can't be right?

    Had to come here because I was so surprised. The shield - is not sharp and the lume is great too, by the toughest of measures. I've had no bezel issues and any bezel will pop off if you want it too. How many divers are going to wear this watch let alone struggle with the dive extension with cold fingers! I really feel you must have been fishing for views by trying to stand out with odd, controversial comments.

    • @EsbjornWristwatchReviews
      @EsbjornWristwatchReviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bezel came off through simply twisting the bezel in an absolutely normal fashion and it would be unethical to not report exactly that in a watch review. The amount of comments here questioning me rather than Tudor doesn’t stop surprising me tbh. If this was a microbrand, people would keep piling on the criticisms but somehow a very expensive watch from a reputable brand turns into a “you’re using it wrong”. Perhaps the simple answer is that early models were not up to scratch in all the areas I found but this has since been fixed. Thanks for your comment, I’m genuinely glad yours is fine since I love Tudor watches generally.

      @@EsbjornWristwatchReviews yes, also helps the fact the crown is on the left. I already have an almost permanent damaged spot with darker scar tissue on my wrist from crowns digging in when I wear my watches. I like them a bit loose to help with my wrist expanding during the day. So, it may be a distro watch for the right-handed, but me being lefty - it's like a godsend: a Pelagos with a left crown. I think the 39 looks good, but a "true" Pelagos it is not, as you said.

    The bezel issue you have is a problem. The other issues are nitpicks in my opinion. You find the divers extension difficult to operate. Ok I guess. Bizarre though. You don't like using your finger nails? That's fine, I prefer it but I could see not liking it I guess. But your passion around it reminded me of watching a football player throw themselves to the ground with the slightest of touch. It was a strong reaction to a tiny detail. The lume thing is tricky. They had this amazing lume on the ceramic indices but the hands and bezel aren't as bright. By the way - that's what's happening, not that the hands are dimmer than the rest as you thought (I have the watch and have spent a lot of time observing and enjoying the lume). Anyway should Tudor have manipulated the indices to be less luminescent to match the bezel and hands? Maybe, but that answer isn't obvious to me. Those indices pop. I compared it to my BB58 which also has great lume and these ceramic indices are way brighter. Anyway I think the bezel issue set you off. Like a bad first 10 min of a date and there was no recovering. You seemed to lose your balance.

      I was almost bought a LHD because I thought it was just superior to the BB58 which I loved for the aesthetic and size, but felt like was going to be too long until the t-fit made it's way with the gilt styling if it ever did. With that being said, when I learned of the 21mm lug width I went with the horage supersede. It's an "all terrain" watch which is basically a diver with dual time on an integrated bracelet in 904 steel with a 10mm/10 position micro adjust under 10mm in thickness because of the micro rotor. It's 2 watches in one and I am digging it. Only hard part is deciding on what dial color. Ordered white but then saw some photos of the grey that were very striking. Good opportunity to get a non black sports watch as they're common and can always get my next watch with a black dial

    The hand lume is not as bright because it is no ware close to as thick. I mean the indices are a chunk of lume not what little amount that would fill the hands. Makes sense the hands die out faster. i bet the indices are bright enough that you can see the hands just fine though.

    • @EsbjornWristwatchReviews
      @EsbjornWristwatchReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is nitpicking a little bit, I agree but there are plenty of other watches that achieve this and chief amongst them have usually been Tudor! This is a rare slip up

    • @EsbjornWristwatchReviews

      It was shocking indeed! I'd like to think that it was just early copies and there are an equal amount of people here saying they've had no issues. I would go to a dealer and give your intended exact copy some good testing yourself and hopefully it was just a few early ones with issues. It's still beautiful but very different in quality from the larger 42 that I owned (and reviewed here also). All the best and happy new year :)

    The pointed shield is not a design flaw. It looks very nice. I have my BB Pro for 6 months and never got hurt by the pointed shield. This is because I open and close the clasp in the correct way. Those who got hurt has opened the clasp in the wrong way.

    First of all the presentation of your video, the quality is well above most of the watch crowd videos, the artwork you use, the pace of the video and sound is the best I’ve experienced. I have watched many reviews of the Pelagos 39 and the more I watched, the more I knew I needed one. So recently I was at the Rolex dealer to drop off something for service and glancing at the Tudor display, I spotted the Pelagos, I tried it on and bought it on the spot, what I didn’t realize at the time was that it wasn’t the 39 model, I couldn’t figure out why the name Pelagos wasn’t in red color, eventually the mystery was solved that I had the larger brother of the 39. It has no lume discrepancy, lights up like a sign after briefly being in sunlight and the clasp is the ultimate clasp without having to stab oneself.
    I have a beautiful sub that hasn’t seen the light of day since I purchased the Pelagos, definitely the best mistake I ever made. Thank you for your review, I am now subscribed.

    I used to own a Pelagos LHD and sold it last year when I got the call from my AD for the Submariner 124060 and Pelagos FXD in the same month last November!
    Love both the Sub 41 no date and FXD however I was still missing the LHD so was intrigued when Tudor released the Pelagos 39. Having watched some reviews and had experience trying it on, I’m not sure if I want to add it to my collection.
    During my AD visit, l also tried the BB58 Bronze and Sterling Silver which I actually prefer because it had a bit of weight as l thought the P39 was too light.
