I just came out of Furiosa. It was good, but still not as good as Fury Road.
@AdamDoesMovies It was good, not great, but good. It's hard to remember that it's not Fury Road.
PROS
- The cast was fantastic, and the characters were great, props to Alyla Browne, Anna Taylor Joy, and especially Chris Hemsworth.
- I appreciate the world building. It's nice to see how the other fortresses and gangs operate compared to the Citadel.
- The action is amazing, not as daring as Fury Road, but great
- THE SOUND DESIGN, OMG!!!
- Margaret Sixel's editing is just good as Fury Road, keeps up perfectly with the action
- (Light Spoiler)The way the revenge was carried out was satisfying to me, and carries a lot of weight towards Furiosa's character in this movie and the influence she might have gotten from the wives in Fury Road.
CONS
- The structure of the story felt shaky and a bit hard to digest when it transitioned.
- There were elements in the story I felt should have been left out and some that should have been expanded more.
- The CGI is pretty distracting. Cars and people felt bouncy while green screens didn't blend well.
- Some of the old characters brought back aren't as memorable if you don't have Fury Road in mind, which sucks.
- The music felt really absent to me, and not as hard hitting in scenes as Fury Road.
Overall, I give it a 6.5/10. It's a good movie.
Too bad it flopped in theaters.
Idk. I feel like the only one who thought this movie was just okay. Amazing action, but I feel like young Furiosa was around far too long, and there was no narrative thrust for the movie.
I looked at the full cast list, no Awkwafina, a bit upset to be honest. Seriously though, I can't wait to check this out. Thanks for the review!

Furiosa and Fury Road are a badass double feature. They compliment eachother so well. Badass

@@Jiff321 that stuntwork and cars exploding sure looks real to me. But yeah most big budget movies do alot of set piece cgi nowadays. It's the only way to bring something super fantastical to life.
A strong female lead done right
I'm having a hard time wanting to see it. I didn't find the character interesting enough to want to explore her backstory and I don't like prequels. If there was something worth saying or showing before the events of Fury Road then it should have been done before Fury Road was made. We know how things turn out already, there's no stakes and it always feels more like unnecessary filler. I prefer stories to keep moving forward, especially when the creator is 79 years old.
Wasn’t planning on watching this movie but man am I glad I did!
Sure, that one motorcycle shot of the mom and daughter in the cave does stand out, but to be honest... it almost felt intentional. Part of the style. I liked it.
Fun fact the silver spray paint is actually silver cake decorating spray so u too can witness me.
This movie surprised me at how much I loved it. I'm not a Mad Max fan or anything, I've only seen Fury Road once, but this movie is beast. This is easily my favorite movie in the past year and a half besides Iron Claw and Godzilla Minus One. But this movie might even be better than those 2. In fact I think it is for me.
I am a HUGE Max Mad fan. I went to the drive in theatre when I was 6 with my parents to watch the 1979 original version at a drive-in movie theatre. Might be why I am screwed up today. Ha!
I thought Fury Road was good. But felt like it left more to be desired. Tom Hardy isn't Mel Gibson. Meh.
Wasn't too connected with Furiosa character in Fury Road, but she had some "bad ass" qualities. So I was stuck with it.
I was extremely skeptical of this movie. I wasn't a huge Fariosa fan and I was worried Hollywood was going to try to spin in some weird woke BS and promote some gross Woke/Alphabet agenda like they do with most movies now. To my surprise and relief the didn't! YAAY!
Finally it was about the movie and not an agenda. It's a honest NOMAD apocalyptic movie that was entertaining from the start to the end. It made me fall in love with the Furiosa character that Fury Road failed to do. It implemented a bad ass "Mad Max" hero type; 'Praetorian Jack' that spun on Mel Gibson's version of Mad Max 2. Even though he played a small role and suffered a cruel death, his impact was very much a positive element. It added more to the film.
This is a must see film for all you Mad Max fans. Go see it on the big screen. You'll be glad you did!
Anya Taylor-Joy is not a big enough star to carry a Big budget Movie. How does Warner Bros keep making this same mistake again and again??
Couldn't take my eyes off this movie. So much stuff that blew my mind. "No family ruining anything for you. " is precisely why I go to the cinema 😂
Saw it on IMAX and enjoyed it! It was a little long especially bc we have to sit through 25 min of previews before the movie starts. Mad max always had shitty people doing shitty things and that’s good they had some of it here but I felt they tuned it down for the audience. It’s supposed to be a world without morality. Action scenes were great. Loved war boys but wished they showed them being better at their job. They kinda sucked at defending the rig 😂. Hemsworth did better than I expected and Anya did well at keeping her pouty sultry thing toned down. Glad to see the villains come back- I wanted to know more about them and their story. There’s another son of Immortan Joe which was cool! It was very good and would recommend 👍🏼 I would definitely want to see more of this world

I went to watch this movie because of your recommendation when you said it's better than Civil War. I forgot that I do not like any of the Mad Max movies. It was not my cup of tea.
I liked it a lot. Much more than I thought I would. I was iffy on it, only willing to see it because there's not much out that I haven't seen already, but I'm really glad I saw it, especially on my local AMC LIEMAX screen.
I saw this in the theater with my son a couple weekends ago. It was a ton of fun, and definitely worth the $6 ticket. I could see about 15 minutes being trimmed off and it would be perfect.

Totally overexposed. It's not charming anymore.
So many problems with this film nobody else is mentioning. It's like they saw a totally different film to me.
Immersion was broken multiple times. Why is everyone going so easy on this and giving it a pass when it is essentially no different to the other poorly written, strong female 'Mary Sue' films of recent times?

The only bad CGI part was the RIG part. You can tell it was green screen heavy

I was gonna skip it when I saw the trailer, looking too CG and cartoony and I hate that stuff, was upset by the trailer. After the reviews, I got more hope and wow! I loved it! It was amazing and Im gonna watch it again!

It was okay but I had 2 issues that made it less enjoyable. 1. The CGI. What happened to all the great practical effects? 2. The last 30 minutes went by so fast, kind of ended like a wet fart. Would have liked to have seen the 40 day war. Anticlimactic

Furiosa Australian movie or Hollywood movie?
Alyla Browne is playing Maria in Sonic 3. So I’m excited to see her in this film since I hope she does Maria justice. Sonic 3 and Deadpool and Wolverine are my 2 most anticipated movies of the year.
Love everything about this post apocalyptic world 🤘🏽. Loved this movie. I’d watch a back story on every single character. Make a series make anime make more movies. 🤘🏽
it was a mistake having this movie lead straight into fury road are better sequel would have had furiosa and imortan Joe having to go to bartertown to deal with auntie
when furiosa cut off her arm it should have been left flipping the bird classic madmax style
I think it's that the budget for this one was smaller and they're testing the waters again to see if people are still interested in this franchise and that's probably why they used a lot more CGI than fury road. It is distracting in some parts.. But that's only after like my third watch

Dune 2 is so phenomenal especially after a few watches.
I liked it a lot. I think i love it. The chase scene in the middle is perfect ! I need to see it again. I really hope George Miller gets to make The Wasteland.
Fury Road was the much better movie. More imaginative, better story and the CG blended in perfect with the movie.Hemsworth came off as a bit of a parody of a bad guy. Even things like the cars all seemed to be repetitive instead of having their own unique character. It was just an ok film.

Saw this last week and loved it. It certainly didn't feel like it was nearly 3 hours long. I thought Chris was great as Dementus and Tom Burke that played Praetorian Jack, nailed the Aussie accent perfectly.

💥💥I saw the first mad Max fury road in 2015 a couple of times with my cousin not because I was interested in the movie or liked it.
I mean i like the old mad Max movie. Mad Max 2015 he was basically strapped to a car the whole time he's basically a side character.
This new mad Max quote on quote fury road I'm not interested in seeing it at all and I'm not going to watch it it's basically the same shit as 2015 im good.
I think maybe it's been too long since you watched Fury Road but to compare this stylized aspect of Fury Road to Furiosa is ridiculous. Furiosa is a cartoon it's 100% way too much CGI everywhere in every single shot pretty much they are not even comparable. Almost this entire movie looks like it could have been shot on a soundstage.
So what? Same with mad max, none of that shit was real. And no lie, I kind of preferred this one to fury road because fury road was just an elaborate chase movie, well done, but still very simple. Furiosa had a better plot, imo, characters, and action

And everything was chaos he somehow stayed in power which made no sense the story was garbage.

I believe why the movie is underperforming is that the first trailer that came out months ago.. the stunts and special effects looked like alot of the movie was green screened... this turned off alot of the audience.. thinking they are getting a mad max film that was mostly digital and not practical effects....which is not the case, when you watch the whole movie....

I thought it was violent and gasoline fueled beauty. It flew by and I think Friosa only had 40 something lines.
The cgi greenscreen is so bad in this one. The movie sadly flops hard.

A spoiler-free review is as stupid as reviewing a trip to Paris and keeping it "spoiler-free" by not mentioning the Eiffel Tower or the River Seine.
Not if you have garnered a lot of trust from your audience. A spoiler-free review gives people a good idea of what to expect. If they often align with the reviewer's tastes, then a positive or negative review might tip the scales for them to see the film.

Yeah I agree. There's some cool stuff, but overall it didn't feel like a credible, sustainable dystopia that humans could inhabit for more than 3 days.
