    very nice, i am a KDE user myself, you did a great job my friend, seems like you really put some thought into this, being able to switch back and forth with windows and linux, simple

      Thanks! Yeah I def gave this a lot of thought. I was tired of having to reboot into windows for certain things. I also just love tinkering. This has changed slightly since this video but still the same concept.

      @djayreed I stream and record from my Linux desktop. What's great about the set up I have is if I'm playing a game on the Windows laptop I can still use my obs on my Linux desktop and just capture the whole monitor and it streams what I'm playing through the Windows laptop. I hope that makes sense. I confused myself while typing it 😂😂

    The last part:
    you are syncing your video files between your devices?
    Wouldnt it be easier just to expose a network share locally or dedicated and mount it on your devices? Or do you need it on every devices if you might go out with your notebook?
    That moonlight + Notebook streaming is a cool idea to workaround the windows issue. Another idea might be the gpu passtrough method (if you have 2 GPUs in your desktop it might be easier to setup) anyway, its a bit of hassle to get it into launch ready, the moonlight + sunshine setup is cool enough, I like!
    I used to use KDE once I started using EndeavourOS but ended up using a specific Hyprland Configuration and now I am stuck on it :-D Aint no chance I switch to anything other if I am not forced to.
    How is the latency when you play e.g. CoD on moonlight? I mean I know sunshine + moonlight is pretty nice and have a good latency, but it has latency, for competitive games + shooters I am curious if its might be a bit too high latency that it make you may think "damn booyyy, if I was on my native setup, I would have won the round!" Or are you more of a regular fun player and some latency is no matter? (I am a CS comp. player and every LAG/Latency in between makes the whole game unplayable for me)
    All in all nice setup!! Cheers

    • @TheBlackDon
      @TheBlackDon  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      First off, love this comment! You did exactly what I asked 💯😎.
      First part: I use syncthing because I also have an asus gaming tablet I use on the go when I'm traveling so my video files are there as well if I need to edit or work on the go. I have thought about doing a local network sharing but I was already using syncthing so it was just the easier option.
      I have also used hyprland. You can check out my other video on that. I used it for a bit before I switched to this. The only reason I did is because of the screen sharing issues with hyprland+Wayland. Other than that I would have prolly stayed on hyprland.
      As for the latency. I would definitely categorize myself in the more casual gamer category. I do have 1 GB up and down Internet speeds so I really don't experience much latency. There is almost no difference. But that is coming from a more casual gamer. So competitively I would probably like a more native set up.
      Thanks for the feedback! 😎💯

      as far as im aware, CoDs anticheat doesnt work inside of a VM, so gpu passthrough might be tough in that case.
      What im more interested in: does this method also work for valorant? i remember hearing vanguard disabling remote cursors. im not sure though.

    I like the idea of not having to leave Linux using Moonlight but that adds delay so no go for me. I ended up just using two pcs and have audio going from one to the gaming one. So only games run on the Windows PC and everything else is Linux on another pc. No delay of any kind, and I prefer to have two keyboards/mice as using a KVM which I have has delay. Got annoying lol

    • @TheBlackDon
      @TheBlackDon  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lol I can see where that would get annoying. I actually have 0 delay I have both my computers hardwired and have really good Internet. I actually experience no difference. I play games like the finals and overwatch and still can perform and get kills as if I was playing natively. Gotta have really good Internet to pull it off tho.

      Thanks! 😎💯. I have a couple questions first..
      What model laptop do you have? And the hardware, like CPU, GPU, RAM amount?
      Also are you playing GPU intensive games?
      I typically don't recommend playing games on laptops without being plugged into power. You won't get the full performance out of the device which will cause your computer to strain a little more causing the battery to die faster.

      @TheBlackDon  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So depending on the games you play with those specs that can definitely affect the battery if they are graphically intensive. Most modern computers it's okay to keep it plugged in while you are gaming for a few hours but I wouldn't just always keep it plugged in if you do need to use it unplugged for other tasks. I hope this helps! I would suggest upgrading your ram to at least 16gb it would help in more than just battery but in performance as well.
