Cachyos handout edition works pretty good with me and I'm not using it on a handheld I'm actually using it on my gaming PC and it works very good I don't have any problems with it craziest part is that I didn't have a lot of problems with Debian distros
I notice one thing between CachyOS/KDE vs Ubuntu/Gnome; when you put your system to sleep but then wake up after a few hours on CachyOS the cpu is at 30 C but with Ubuntu it is at 50 C for 4-5 mins, quite strange. I am happy with CachyOS; but just 1 problem the wifi hotspot doesn't work yet the wifi internet works, I also have a lan line fast connection. Another thing this USB Flash utility "Impressions" work fairly good on Ubuntu so I had no problem putting the CachyOS iso on a usb thumb drive. The installation was basically as easy as Ubuntu to install; and you get an optimized gaming system out of the box.

I'm using cachy os cinnamon lately and it's working great and gaming also as been great. Cachy os cinnamon comes bare bones but once i installed everything i need it's great not switching anymore found my home.
Would there be any real reason to switch from Nobara to Cachy if running a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Mobile , with an integrated GPU too? Since it's a newer NVIDIA model? When nobara was looking for a new home me and GE went to opensuse to see how viable it was and it didn't pass anything and turned out to be extremely unfriendly. so i tried it and it didn't end well and i have zero plans on touching it ever again
i´m new to linux and i startet about 1 month ago to find the right distro for me. i was distro hopping. i testet almost everything and at beginnig nobara was my 1 joice but than i found out they drop pascal support and i have a strix 1080ti lol.. than i was testen the top 20 distros what you tubers recomenting. then Garuda was my joice about 2 weeks. i loved the 1 klick update menu and ap install and i make a normal dark look . than i was trying as beginner cachy os and yes it runs since 2 weeks now :D i will not go back to the other ones lol. but i also like garuda because in my mint the garuda install/ update menu that also have Cachy is what make a system newbie-frienly. tthank you for you videos. cachy i found because of your videos :)

I mean, more or less any distro that has up to date packages should be fine with gaming, unless it's not configured for gaming. I'm using EndeavourOS and it's fine.
The biggest problem with Stalker 2 is UE5, all games that are using this engine has stuttering issues. I've been using CachyOS on my main rig for the past year and I see no reason to ever want to reinstall Windows. As soon as I get a couple more accessories, I'll be upgrading to the 9800X3D and the FormD T1 case.
I've been running Fedora 41 now since launch. I thought I found my "happy" distro but lets do some bitching shall we? Keep in mind this is my first time using Fedora. I liked my printer working ootb like in most buntu based distros and i like an actual modern looking package manager. Then came the video driver hell. I dont know what happened but fedora started using my intel driver in the wayland session instead of the nvidia one. Switched to x11 and got my nvidia driver working. But gameplay has been inconsistent as shit! works great sometimes...same game a little while later, fire it up and it plays like crap! stuttering graphics or worse. Why is it so hard to find a distro that checks all the boxes? I just dont know. I want to use cachy but i hate the package management? command line in 2024? fuck that! that ugly ass Octopi? ugh....
Thank you for your vids! One of the things I deeply respect in CachyOS is their repos. If I need some good forks of widely-used apps - they are already in there, no need to compile or maintain it to get the latest version, the devs will do the job. chaotic-aur, in contrast, feels 10 times worse - constant "out-of-sync" and mirror issues with -Sy... At least it does the job, sometimes... Another thing is their wiki. Had a problem with my RTX 3080, it basically dropped core freq to 200Mhz (I have no idea for why though), resulting in awful animation stutters, searched for it - nothing interesting or useful. And I had a thought: "Can I change the GPU core clocks? [on Wayland]". Man, their wiki saved my sanity - the stutters are gone for good. And it seems like they are interested in supporting and developing various enthusiast-oriented software, which I also adore! Also, why the timestamps are entirely wrong? I think they are from your older video.
I dislike Spotify's quality settings also, but even having Tidal is a bit bitter on linux as we just can't have bit perfect without something like Strawberry (Tidal streaming there was borked last I checked and it was never perfect anyway). What do you use? Any streaming at all? I've got my flac files too which I'm happy with, but that just isn't the same offer that streaming platforms can offer yeah...
Have you figured out controller support for Stalker 2? Feels very smooth on a 7900xt with Nobara, no hiccups, I think your just experiencing the lackluster nvidea linux support. Frame time graph for me is literally flat well over 100fps native 1440. They patched the mouse thing already. Apparently its an xinput issue.

I have had an issue with Guild Wars 2. May be because I am using Lutris with Wine-GE-8-26 but sometimes I cannot click icons in the game. I don't have the Steam version of Guild Wars 2 but maybe I can try Proton? I installed CashyOS in October of 2024 and it's been quite nice.
I am using Linux mint, and i do have to configure various startup argument on everygame in order to get somewart of good fps, and i have a alright stats. (Intel Core i9-13900KF Asus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB TUF, 32 GB Ram). I have just started with using Linux so i will properly stick with Mint for a while, but i have been looking for other Linux distros with better performance.

@Cosmic_idea you can install mainline to upgrade to a newer kernel. Make sure you use: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cappelikan/ppa sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y sudo apt install -y mainline I tried using the flatpak mainline and it didn't work for me (use the commands I posted) I used this on 2 different laptops and 1 desktop. I am going to try this on my gaming rig on Friday when I build it (still waiting on my motherboard). I would use Cachy or Pika (I really like both) but they both don't come configured to work with NAS devices that are set up for Windows shares. I tried real quick to troubleshoot it but gave up since I have a 1 year old baby and work 2 jobs. I just need the OS to work. @Mattscreative if you can make a video setting up Cachy to work with a windows share, that would be awesome! If not, I understand. I enjoy watching your videos!
I tried cachy on a 5900x.. It was great. Ithen put it on my 7800x3d and it was crazy bad constantly locking up, so I put it back on nobara. I like cachy, it was my first try on arch. I wonder if their kernell is 3d cache optimized or it I need a certain one?

i've swtiched from fedora sway-spin 41 beta to cachyos with sway, in general, 100mb less ram usage, a LOT LOT LOT faster system responsiveness. cant say about fps and gaming, but for cpu demand games it will be better.
Stalker 2 has its issues, but there is mod that edits the game with a ton of fixes One is a Pak file and the other is an Engine.ini; Highly recommend downloading them

I wanted to put CachyOS on my new laptop, but dang.. it just won't run worth anything, it runs maybe 5 to 10 minutes and locks up. Totally unusable. Found out in testing, its almost all Linux Distros, not just Cachy. I finally got Fedora working without freezes most of the time disabling all C states, but that kills the battery life by hours... oh well, Windows works 100% perfect on it though, plus all the extra AMD driver options to throw upscaling and frame gen on any game at all works great.
I tried switching today as my first arch distro but alas, all the things I had heard about arch and its derivatives are true. Installation failed three times for three separate reasons. Cachy has simply too small of a team and community to provide the amount of polish required for them to patch arch while innovating and doing their own thing. I'm going back to vanilla fedora/opensuse. Skipping bazzite because that distro has a whole different set of issues.

On Windows nothing touches Nvidia. Nothing. And it's not close. On Linux the AMD experience is so much better than Nvidia it would require a 6 hour video to cover it.
@@Mattscreative Nope. Known good card. Tested same day in 2 other systems. Card is free of issues completely on Windows. Nobara installs and performs fine but can not wake from sleep .Pika will either not get to first boot or if tried repeatedly will sometimes install but no successful boot after. Card is Asus pro-art 4060ti 16gb
Yeah sadly that one doesn't work. Lm-sensors can't detect the fans if there is an EC chip on the motherboard. I'll be careful from now on when buying a new electronic device and check it's Linux compatibility.
@@fooboomoo pre-programmed chip to control the fans based on the temperature. Only the proprietary software made by the laptop's maker can interact with it or you have to reverse engineer.
I would like to use CachyOS on my main gaming pc but I can't install it because I can't get wifi and I need to install a driver for wifi but to do that I have to install the os and I don't think there's no offline installer. So I'm just using PopOS which works great but I think I do need something newer. Does anyone have an idea how to help me? 😅
I dont think its true, that many multiplayer titles dont work because the developers dont care or hate valve. Afaik the biggest problem is that these games use kernel level Anti-Cheat i.e. Riot Vanguard, BattleEye etc. And these are only compatible with Windows. To develop Kernel Level Anti-Cheat for Linux is just not worth it for the companies, as just a tiny fraction of Gamers use Linux and its not worth the investment at the moment. I hope in the future with the rise of SteamOS and Linux in general it will become viable for companies to invest more in Linux compatibility. Best even would be to ditch kernel level anti-cheat, because fuck that shit.

A huge misconception in the linux community is that it it’s just not supported or it doesn’t work but the truth is the developer didn’t bother to press the button and give it Support. It sucks to hear but it’s not about investing anything it doesn’t cost any money nothing needs to change for the game itself to support Linux or the anti-cheat it’s just the developers think that all Linux users are cheaters and don’t want to click the button.

I have CachyOS Running on my main gaming desktop with a GTX 1070 and it's running on 3 other laptops. One with a Nvidia GT 840m and a really old Acer with a Core 2 Duo 😊. Runs great on everything I have.

I run Zorin os as my primary os but I installed CachOs yesterday to play with and it’s lots of fun.

For quick stuff cider 2 apple has it's own format that isn't compressed at all and musicbee with vinyl rips of hi res masters

nvidia-open doesn't support older cards so 1080ti and back

I have had an issue with Guild Wars 2. May be because I am using Lutris with Wine-GE-8-26 but sometimes I cannot click icons in the game. I don't have the Steam version of Guild Wars 2 but maybe I can try Proton?
I installed CashyOS in October of 2024 and it's been quite nice.

I am using Linux mint, and i do have to configure various startup argument on everygame in order to get somewart of good fps, and i have a alright stats. (Intel Core i9-13900KF
Asus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB TUF, 32 GB Ram). I have just started with using Linux so i will properly stick with Mint for a while, but i have been looking for other Linux distros with better performance.

@Cosmic_idea you can install mainline to upgrade to a newer kernel. Make sure you use: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cappelikan/ppa
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
sudo apt install -y mainline
I tried using the flatpak mainline and it didn't work for me (use the commands I posted) I used this on 2 different laptops and 1 desktop. I am going to try this on my gaming rig on Friday when I build it (still waiting on my motherboard). I would use Cachy or Pika (I really like both) but they both don't come configured to work with NAS devices that are set up for Windows shares. I tried real quick to troubleshoot it but gave up since I have a 1 year old baby and work 2 jobs. I just need the OS to work. @Mattscreative if you can make a video setting up Cachy to work with a windows share, that would be awesome! If not, I understand. I enjoy watching your videos!

I tried cachy on a 5900x.. It was great. Ithen put it on my 7800x3d and it was crazy bad constantly locking up, so I put it back on nobara. I like cachy, it was my first try on arch. I wonder if their kernell is 3d cache optimized or it I need a certain one?
You went from v3 to v4 that requires a reinstall of the os so that was on you sadly

hi, why have you picked cachyos-rc kernel over default cachyos kernel? im on rx gpu + ryzen cpu, and currently on default cachyos kernel, wanted to switch to cachyos-bore, but after your words rewanted doing that. also, is there any options to enable in CachyOS Kernel Manager in "Configure" section for better perfomance? (maybe you have did some adjustments there)
i like to test kernels and report issues so in the end we have less bugs

i've swtiched from fedora sway-spin 41 beta to cachyos with sway, in general, 100mb less ram usage, a LOT LOT LOT faster system responsiveness. cant say about fps and gaming, but for cpu demand games it will be better.

Stalker 2 has its issues, but there is mod that edits the game with a ton of fixes
One is a Pak file and the other is an Engine.ini; Highly recommend downloading them

I wanted to put CachyOS on my new laptop, but dang.. it just won't run worth anything, it runs maybe 5 to 10 minutes and locks up. Totally unusable. Found out in testing, its almost all Linux Distros, not just Cachy. I finally got Fedora working without freezes most of the time disabling all C states, but that kills the battery life by hours... oh well, Windows works 100% perfect on it though, plus all the extra AMD driver options to throw upscaling and frame gen on any game at all works great.

Still need to get that SSD installed and try this on actual hardware.

Debian you would want pikaos4 linked below and for arch cachyos is best
I tried switching today as my first arch distro but alas, all the things I had heard about arch and its derivatives are true. Installation failed three times for three separate reasons. Cachy has simply too small of a team and community to provide the amount of polish required for them to patch arch while innovating and doing their own thing. I'm going back to vanilla fedora/opensuse. Skipping bazzite because that distro has a whole different set of issues.

Bro i face A BUG cachyos grub distory windows boot manager and i have 2 ssd windows and cachyos ok both ssd plug in PC but after some time unable to boot windows error restat . But i unplug cachyos ssd windows boot normaly some time windows boot manager crash 😱😱😱😱😱😱

On Windows nothing touches Nvidia. Nothing. And it's not close. On Linux the AMD experience is so much better than Nvidia it would require a 6 hour video to cover it.

@@Mattscreative Nope. Known good card. Tested same day in 2 other systems. Card is free of issues completely on Windows. Nobara installs and performs fine but can not wake from sleep .Pika will either not get to first boot or if tried repeatedly will sometimes install but no successful boot after. Card is Asus pro-art 4060ti 16gb

Yeah sadly that one doesn't work. Lm-sensors can't detect the fans if there is an EC chip on the motherboard. I'll be careful from now on when buying a new electronic device and check it's Linux compatibility.

I would like to use CachyOS on my main gaming pc but I can't install it because I can't get wifi and I need to install a driver for wifi but to do that I have to install the os and I don't think there's no offline installer. So I'm just using PopOS which works great but I think I do need something newer. Does anyone have an idea how to help me? 😅

I dont think its true, that many multiplayer titles dont work because the developers dont care or hate valve.
Afaik the biggest problem is that these games use kernel level Anti-Cheat i.e. Riot Vanguard, BattleEye etc. And these are only compatible with Windows. To develop Kernel Level Anti-Cheat for Linux is just not worth it for the companies, as just a tiny fraction of Gamers use Linux and its not worth the investment at the moment.
I hope in the future with the rise of SteamOS and Linux in general it will become viable for companies to invest more in Linux compatibility. Best even would be to ditch kernel level anti-cheat, because fuck that shit.

A huge misconception in the linux community is that it it’s just not supported or it doesn’t work but the truth is the developer didn’t bother to press the button and give it Support. It sucks to hear but it’s not about investing anything it doesn’t cost any money nothing needs to change for the game itself to support Linux or the anti-cheat it’s just the developers think that all Linux users are cheaters and don’t want to click the button.

I have CachyOS Running on my main gaming desktop with a GTX 1070 and it's running on 3 other laptops. One with a Nvidia GT 840m and a really old Acer with a Core 2 Duo 😊. Runs great on everything I have.
